Itās been a long, longĀ day.
A day of misfiled reports, unhelpful witnesses, and zero actualĀ clues to help her with her current case. Honestly, sheās not sure why sheād bothered getting out of bed this morning, considering how everything has played out sinceĀ then.
The moment Lei steps into the Choya Cafe, however, she takes that thought back - thisĀ is why sheād gotten out of bed, this morning. Her now-weekly meetup with Eskel, on a night that Amwyl can stay with the twins and allow the Norn some time alone.
She spots him easily, sitting at the back as he always is - a set of plushy armchairs claimed for their little date, two coffees set on the table before him.
Always on time, always thoughtful.
āEskel!ā Lei waves at Laurent at the counter as she makes her way over, mirroring the Nornās smile,Ā āSorry Iām late. Itās been a hell of a day.ā
āNot to worry.ā Eskel smiles as he stands, wrapping an arm around her in a tight hug, and Lei feels all her worries start to melt away.
Then he pauses, chuckling - seemingly at nothing, but the sound is mirthful enough to have her pulling back and squinting.
āNot to sound terribly corny,ā Eskel grins, eyes bright,Ā āBut is that a gunĀ in your pocket, or are you just pleased to see me?ā
She takes a minute to figure out what heās talking about before registering where his hand is resting - on her hip, touching the concealed holster.
Lei letās out a laugh of her own.Ā āThat is, in fact, a gun.ā She tilts her head back, eyes narrowed in invitation,Ā āThough I amĀ pleased to see you, Eskel.ā
Eskel only chuckles again, accepting the invitation - bending to kiss her, much more gently then sheād like, a fleeting touch that leaves her wanting more.
āTease.ā she grumbles, smiling despite her tone.
āWe are in public, you know.ā he grins back, brushing another faint kiss over her forehead before retreating to his seat,Ā āTime for that later, Leilani. Come, tell me about your day.ā
āIf I must.ā Lei sighs, but sheās grinning all the while, already thinking of things to do once laterĀ has come.
