when a movie or movie trailer shows you Some Guy with no explanation as to who he is and why you should care, whose role is just to say "let's get this party started" or something similarly empty right at the end, you have to understand that in the mind of the Hollywood Guy, the actor they hired to say that line is, by himself, supposed to be the appeal. They expect the audience to go "wow, it's Brett Cavernmash! They got Brett Cavernmash!! I am so excited by this!"

The assumption that strict Actor Stance is the only valid way to play ttrpgs is a deep-rooted sickness in ttrpg culture, and causes massive damage to people's ability to engage with the medium. "It's what my character would do" is a meaningless statement. A player character is not a real person, what they 'would do' is entirely under your control, and you can alter them however you wish to have them do whatever you want. 'Acting in character' is not a suicide pact.

Not to mention that real people change their mind, or act out of character all the time. so if it’s verisimilitude you’re going for there’s thousand reasons to justify any action.

They should make an anime where various tabletop RPGs are represented by cute girls with personalities appropriate to those games

What I love about this reply was that interdimensional-chaos thought that D&D would somehow have more power than the other systems. Like, ignoring all the fantasy heartbreakers that are similar to D&D and could presumably beat it to death with sheer numbers, you get high-powered stuff like anything in the World of Darkness, Exalted, and Jolene. How does D&D even stand a chance?

It WOULD be funny if, after beating her to death she's just randomly walking around in the background of another episode because she decided that she didn't want to do her own death rules.
