I need your help: I met someone who is in love with me but also has to deal with a breakup himself first to really know if this isn't just a crush. He is super sweet and don't put any pressure on me, he is really a sweetheart and I don't know if it's the same I'm feeling. I get excited when I read his text, I feel calm with him, I tell him things i never told anyone. But I am so afraid because I was never in love before and I don't even know how to tell if this is really love or could change to love after some time, because I don't wanna hurt his feelings....

First off, that’s very sweet and emotionally intelligent of the guy to feel it out first and know the consequences of dating after a breakup. For the love part, as a person actively (deeply) in love right now. Love isn’t something you’ll know right away. I can’t pinpoint when I started to love my husband. It just came a day where I was like “huh I really love this dude and have been for a whileee”. That’s what I want to make apparent, love has so many meaning and so many effects.

Feeling comfortable and safe with some. Feeling at peace, feeling you can say things and not get judged. Those are feelings of love. I never felt love before my husband (coming from an emotionally neglectful family myself) (I still fully can’t say I Love You out loud to my husband). But you will know, not at the moment, but in retrospective.

Don’t think too much of it. Just let yourself feel it out.
