alcohol was a smoldering water

to stop it from consuming.

How we train our eyes to not see

so that we might stop the yearning.

What is it the seeker

hungers for-

It wails in their bones

 a beast that reawakens

like a clawing demon that

 demands more than flesh.

Nostalgia is an epitaph

 that reads of antiquated reasons

for being,

breathing is believing.

What do I have faith in more than this-

Don’t you see-

It is hunger that sustains you

Why then-

if ever living

in this frenzy of fire

 cluttered with color

 do we fill it with small time dress.

It is the ebb and flow of living

 dying and dreaming

that should be worshipped

    in every heart beat

to let this flesh keep breathing

Salt and Earth

 starry eyed

star borns

eye their birth

from unfathomable depths of dusk

take a deep breath

revel in the hunger
