2. Kissing Eli became a habit after that. They’d pull each other away for a few moments, coming back slightly more rumpled than before, and no one seemed to catch on. Or no one questioned it, at least. They didn’t discuss it, it just kind of happened. They’d be fighting one minute and the next, they weren’t saying anything at all. It wasn’t that she didn’t enjoy all the kissing, but it was strange. There were no rules and it was something so entirely different for her. She never let loose like this. She was afraid of what would happen, but his kisses made every Kesha lyric about love and drugs seem ridiculously true.

3. Things couldn’t stay that way forever. They never do, really. What was once an innocent hook up to ease the tension between them slowly became much more. There were looks. There were smiles and lingering gentle touches that weren’t meant to grow into anything more. Elsa grew nervous at the idea. The last thing she needed was another reason to stay. She wasn’t good at staying anymore. It felt too much like being trapped, like she didn’t have control, and at the moment, the only person she allowed to take control from her was Eli. Elsa was beginning to think that was a mistake. So when he kissed her cheek one day instead of dragging her away to some unknown place, and when her heart skipped at beat at the smile he gave her, Elsa panicked. 

4. She pulled away, started more petty arguments. She rebelled against every single feeling for him she had, knowing she was being more of a bitch than even she thought she was capable. At night, she drowned herself in guilt and cookie dough ice cream. During the day, she made herself the ice bitch everyone called her behind her back, trying not to seem bothered by the way she knew she was hurting him. And then the worst happened and he got hurt and her heart stopped. It took her forever to go to the hospital, knowing she wasn’t welcome. When she got there it had been made even more clear to her. Elsa just took it, knowing it was the truth. She waited, using her connections to visit him after all other visitors had been asked to leave. Elsa sat at his side silently for hours, listening to the steady beep on his heart monitor. When she went to leave, she pressed a kiss to his temple, resting her forehead against his for a moment before she pulled away. She didn’t notice that he had woken up, her back turned to him as he watched her leave.
