    It was surprising, really. Mae was actually in a decent mood, staring out over the wispy emptiness with a placid expression on her face, heel scraping against a stray piece of turf on the rock, aiming to scrape it off. It felt nice, she could understand why Bruce had set up camp here. Or, well, he used to. She wondered where he had gone.

    Of course, the calm could never last long, not with her luck. The sound of angry footsteps trudging through the leaves made her jolt a bit before turning and looking behind her– and starting. She scrambled to her feet, nearly slipping off of the still slick-from-dew rock as she attempted to stand, breath hitching as she squinted through the fog as she tried to make out who that was.

   Her first thought, due to the cat silhouette, was that it was her mom, or even Casey, but it was too thin to be her mom and too short to be Casey. So who–

                                “ Oh my god. ”

And she continued making her way through. Not caring how lost she got, or where her feet were taking her at this point. She just wanted to go away from everything, and everyone. Finally, tearing her eyes off the ground, though, she thought she’d made it to some sort of destination..

.. Instead, having a strong, sudden moment of confusion. It wasn’t like looking in the mirror, but it was at the same time. The fog around her made the figure look like a ghost of some sort, Mae’s eyes wide as she heard the other feline speak, her face of anger changed to one of confusion, and a big mix of fear into it.. what the f-
