After a long year, the Small family finally had a chance to go on vacation. Of course, this was not Brendon’s IDEAL way to spend his time off school. He’d much rather stay home and make movies with his best friend. The scenery was nice, but the ride itself was BORING; plus, their infant sister would get carsick now and then.
There sat an amusement park on the pier of OCEAN AVENUE. The young director held his video camera against the glass window, shooting the scenery as they passed by the rides. Why couldn’t they stop there first? They’ve been to this town before, but never gone to Wonder Wharf; he only came for a SOCCER GAME. “Brendon, you can’t keep filming the entire vacation. You’ll miss all the fun,” she stated.
The child uttered several INAUDIBLE words and laughed underneath his breath. “I’m not going to miss anything fun, mom,” Brendon assured; camera now aimed at their mother. “And-and besides, even if I did, it’ll be recorded,” he added.
“Well, what about when we eat? Are you going to keep filming that too?” Paula asked as she parked the vehicle and got out.
Brendon imagined the future content. There haven’t been many places for DOCUMENTING the food they’ve devoured on their journey; most establishments didn’t allow camera. Besides, showing their reactions to the food would be GREAT BUSINESS for the restaurant as well.
He glimpsed back at his mom picking up Josie out the carseat. “Yeah! What if I did?” the child responded. Brendon got out of the car, pointing the camera at his mother.
Paula rolled her eyes, sighing at giving her son the idea, and started walking down the sidewalk towards the nearest restaurant. Her attention focused on TWO buildings across from one another. “What are you feeling, pizza or burger?” she asked.
“Burger,” Brendon immediately answered, holding the camera up to record the restaurant’s sign in frame.
❛ louise help your brother wipe down the menus, it’s almost time for the lunch rush. ❜ bob’s voice rings clear from the kitchen, drawing the attention of his youngest child from where she’s perched on a stool across from her mother, tiny fingers drawing back away from the absolutely hideous toothpick house the two had been building. the poor thing topples over and crumbles as louise leaps to the floor and she ignores the cry from her mother as she slides into a booth across from gene.
❛ maybe today we’ll get some stragglers from jimmy pesto’s place. ❜ that earns her a glare from her father and she responds with a smile, eyes twinkling with innocence despite the malicious tone in her voice. it’s unspoken between the youngest of the belchers that there’s probably not going to be any customers today besides teddy and mort. at least until the door opens and a small family of three step through, earning an enthusiastic cheer from linda as she rounds the counter and grabs the freshly wiped down menus from her children.
❛ welcome to bob’s burgers, what can i get for ya? oh what a precious baby! and look at the little film maker! oh, what cute kids. ❜ linda’s quick to start up a conversation while louise turns in her seat to get a look, eyes immediately locking on the camera in the boy’s hands.
❛ last time someone brought a camera here, my dad cemented him under the basement floor. ❜ a blatant lie, spoken quietly enough for only the boy to hear. ❛ he tried to frame my dad as a murderer, so now my dad gets really weird around cameras. i’d watch your back. ❜ a nod of her head and a glance toward the kitchen, eyes narrowing once her father is visible. ❛ he’s crazy. you should try to stay on his good side. say the food is good even if it isn’t and he might spare your life. ❜
