Maddox bent to tug out one crinkled corner of her picnic blanket before he sat down beside her. His blue eyes watched the tall grass blowing like a windy green ocean around them before his gaze drifted to her topless form. He laid beside her, letting his head roll to the side to watch her with a smile.

“If you’re going to ask me to get up, I’m gonna need you to go fuck yourself first.”

Maddox snorted and Marie cracked a smile with her eyes closed, hands clasped behind her to cradle her head. “Actually, I was gonna ask if I could take a nap with you. Also.” He grazed a golden fingertip over the sensitive bud of her closest nipple with a grin. “I was instructed to tell you to report to Mara’s kitchen in two hours. Archer has devised some sort of plan for jam.” He raised a finger and a golden brow. “I’m telling you now if this plan doesn’t involve eating it off naked bodies, I’m gonna protest.”

Marie rolled her eyes and swatted at him without looking. “Only for jam.” She sighed as she settled back into the soft blanket, letting her hands rest beside her.
