rejects jenna’s offer at housing at the palace- after taking a moment to be staggered at the fact that she was offered a room by the princess at the palace bc it never quite hit her that she was considered part of the “family”

moves back into the ramblings, because that’s been her first concept of “home”

she paints her front door purple thankyouverymuch

she lives far enough away from silas heap and sarah heap that she could probably avoid seeing them again, but somehow they always manage to run into each other and she doesn’t know if it’s bad luck or if it’s intentional on their part to harass her 

she finds a mean old stray cat bullying some friendly rats outside of her window 

she eventually adopts the mean old stray cat

she names it alther which he does not find amusing (because as it so happens the ramblings room she resides in is one that alther had once entered during his apprenticeship trying to find toad extract from a white witch- who actually lived three floors down) 

she travels often to the port to track down & restore magykal books, spells, objects, and artifacts stolen during domdaniel/the custodian’s rule and fills her house with whatever the manuscriptorium and the pyramid library doesn’t need (she occasionally lets milo help or at least lets him think he’s helping)

after so many years of protecting the castle and so many close calls of its safety, marcia found she couldn’t bear to leave it’s walls, especially once she found she’d made a home there. she would rather be close in case trouble arose, even if she was tired of all the pressure that it put on her.

she is close in case trouble arises- and is a great mentor to septimus and assists him with anything he needs, even if it’s trivial (she did let him take over rather young)- she’s also a pretty wonderful adviser to jenna even if they don’t always agree, after all of those years of keeping the castle safe- and beetle’s pretty much got things handled but they still have lunch fairly regularly.
