A wave of his hand was given at the other's words before he slowly made his way into the hallway, glancing about before he made his way down, brows furrowed as his right hand came to rest against his left side, his bionic one carefully moving along the wall for support. With the adrenaline fading, he could tell that he was in much more rough shape than he looked - a few gashes here and there but he could already count how many broken ribs he had, aside the flaring pain he felt in his ankle, also fractured, if he had to take a guess. 

But right now? That was the least of his worry, he'd be fine, he just needed to get out – 

A sharp exhale left him once he reached the exit door. Stairs. Just great. Whatever, this pain was nothing, though he could already hear a variety of voices in the back of his head scolding him for being too reckless, for not caring enough, but in this case? He had been outnumbered, barely scraping by with his life, if anything. Laying low for a long while would be the best plan of action once he could sit and rest. Carefully making his way down the stairs while making sure that he didn't put too much weight on one leg, it didn't take too long before he reached the door, pushing that one open as well.

“ Hhnn – you know where the butcher shop is, right? Near the park? ” James finally broke the silence as he took a moment to stand still, looking over to Ezra. “ The basement of that building - it's only accessible from the back, think you can drive there? There.. There might be a fence in the way, too. ” Honestly, had it been just him, he wouldn't care about driving a truck straight through, but discretion was more than welcome right now. The Winter Soldier took a deep breath, lips pressed together as his face scrunched up from the pain flare up.

Just great. Great! It only meant that all of this seriously punched through his tolerance.

Pistol with silencer is kept at the ready as he walks alongside Bucky. Although an uninjured Bucky, without a doubt, is stronger than him, he isn't in great shape right now. Right now Bucky needs help, needs protecting. Although he personally hasn't spoken with Bucky much before this point, he's heard of Bucky... Bucky is in museums and history books. And Bucky is a mutual friend of Steve's. Although he knows some facts about Bucky, all Ezra really needs to know is that Bucky is a good person in need of help.

As the exit door gives way to stairs, Ezra winces in sympathy. If he was strong enough to carry Bucky, he would. Although Ezra doubts Bucky would let him even if he could. Ezra continues to act as Bucky's bodyguard as he slowly and painfully makes his ways down the stairs. Ezra is quiet as they descend, too focused on making sure there are no surprise guards lurking in that shadows to speak as they finish walking down the stairs.

"Yeah, I know it," Ezra reassures him. As they continue to make their escape they past by limp bodies of their enemies. Not all of them have bullet holes or bruises. Some of them Ezra used is powers on, ripping the oxygen out of their lungs and knocking them unconcious. "I'm not tattle tale. As long as you don't seem like you're actively dying on me I won't tell him a thing." Bucky doesn't know this but Ezra's got his own super-powered sickness that often has Steve going into protective mode. Although Ezra appreciates the kind sentiment, he's not fond of Steve's mother henning.

As they near their escape vehicle, the sheer number of people Ezra has knocked out or shot become apparently. It's a large number, a number one person shouldn't be capable of. His powers make it possible, although he can feel his super powered sickness already eating at him from the inside out due to using it so much in a short amount of time. Thankfully his stolen ride is right where he left in it and they drive away from the facility with no pursuers. Despite no one shooting them or chasing them Ezra knows this is far from over. They'll have to look into this more. But for now he needs to get Bucky patched up.

The detective blinks slowly, forcing down a yawn before she tries to joke about the situation. "Was it the eyebags or frown that gave it away?" The yawn comes back with a vengeance, making her turn her head to cover her mouth; it felt more polite that way. When she faces her companion again, she looks perturbed.

Ezra can be painfully blunt. It's partially due to autism, and also partially due to personality. He doesn't like small talk and he doesn't like dancing around the elephant in the room. She doesn't seem okay and he's concerned, like the good friend he is.

With a muted chuckle, Ezra chuckles as he replies, "a mix of both, really. And the fact you've been so quiet." Harry can be a talker, especially compared to him. Although Ezra supposes the frequency of conversing compared to himself is a bit low considering the fact he's always been more of a listener than a talker.

Batman: Caped Crusader (2024 - )

Mattia hums, nodding at her remark. He's watching the interaction between Frankie and the woman petting if only to make sure the dog doesn't suddenly change his mind about letting this woman pet him, even if he's fairly sure he won't, Mattia would rather not risk the Presa Canario biting her, and being labelled as someone who can't control his dog, or the other things that could happen if Frankie misbehaves. "He's a softie when he wants to be, especially when there's pets and treats involved." Mattia snorts, bringing his hand down to pet along the dogs back.

Mattia doesn't know Harley. If he did, he'd know that even if Frankie bit her, she wouldn't make a big fuss. Dogs bite when they're scared. If she got bit, she likely did something to deserve it. Getting stitches would suck but she'd never brand Frankie as a dangerous animal due to her own missteps. Thankfully Frankie seems to like her, continuing to stand in place as she softly pets him.

" I could not agree more, " he rumbled, his own eyes roving the crowd. They paused on Astarion and merchant, his fingers twitching at his side and the bear within bristling with memory. He half expected the merchant to shift before their eyes to Bhaal's chosen to taunt the vampire and the rest of his companions further. It would not be the first time it happened, after all.

Only when Lae'zel pointed specifically to a group of women paying him particular attention did he shift his attention to them. When their gazes met, half of them giggled behind their hands while the other shot him flirtatious winks. His cheeks and the tips of his ears burns as he averted his eyes back to his githyanki companion. It was not uncommon for him to garner this manner of attention wherever he went, but it did grow tiresome when he spent more time spurning the advances of the city's denizens than fighting the cult of the Absolute. With the threat of dopplegangers taking on the likeness of anyone, it required more vigilance and only made the task all the more exhausting.

As if sensing Halsin's apprehension, Lae'zel's gaze flickers back over to Astarion. Astarion is talkative and outgoing. He chatters almost endlessly with the merchant. Lae'zel would be tempted to shout over to him, encouraging him to wrap it up, it if weren't for the fact he's likely haggling for lower prices. With a disapproving click of tongue Lae'zel's gaze lingers on Astarion for a beat longer before shifting, surveying the scene before them.

Lip curls in agitation as the group of women giggle and bat their eyelashes at Halsin. Although Halsin has an attractive body and agreeable personality, the intensity of the flirting is enough to make her head hurt. The constant attention is annoying, and although the occasional flirting is fine, Halisn is frequently targeted, for better or for worse. Although she notes the blush forming on the tips of his ears, she doesn't comment on it.

"Sugah we're always conspiring against you, it's the curse of being an authority figure. If we ain't causin' problems then we ain't doing our job."

"Keeping me on my toes then," Scott relents with a soft, amused laugh. It's hard to stay agitated with Rogue and the rest of their rowdy crew. They're restless but supportive. He trusts her, trusts all of them with his life.

Something other than Rex, of course. She doesn't expect them to be openly attacked in the middle of the ballroom - more likely discreetly escorted somewhere private where the real trouble will start - but she hopes he won't do anything silly like try to shield her if it turns out she's guessed wrong.

And as for the beard ... she catches the look, and her eyes spark with mischief in return. "I'm sorry." A light lean of her head against his shoulder, a companionable nudge that also lends itself to their cover, "I'd tidy it up for you if I could." She leads the way toward the table where staff are serving drinks, pouring different concoctions into glassware that glitter like the chandeliers overhead.

Much like Thera, Rex doesn't expect any suspicious guards to question or attack them in the ballroom. Although their presence won't go undetected or unaddressed forever, it would be bad buisness for the party to go so publicly awry. Hence, they have a little time, time right up until the party ends to gather intel and give them the slip. Otherwise there will be a fight... Eventually.
