"So... dare I ask what that was about?" Jack asked with a not-so-subtle humor in his voice. He kept pace with Robby even as the man bristled.

That said, Robby has been expecting this conversation for ages now. Those lovingly given nicknames aren't said quietly nor shyly. "You've got to know where it came from, no? Get caught at a bad time?" Jack egged, bumping into Robby with his shoulder and causing them both to stutter-step. "Tit-for-tat. You can ask about any of mine after."
"She's just a bit special. Can't read too much into it." Robby dismissed again. Jack scoffed.
"For some, sure. Calling me 'hopscotch' is one thing, but 'fruitcake'?"
"She overheard a private conversation between myself and a colleague." Robby relented, pulling his backpack tight to his back and drumming his fingers on the strap, "A patient came in after he 'slipped and fell'." "Ahh... produce or plastic?" Jack interjected, Robby shot him a look over his shoulder. "We didn't know at the time. Started a betting pool after we got him settled and sent up for imaging." He paused, warmth blooming at his cheeks. "A few people started discussing why someone might engage in such activities." "and..?" "And I mentioned the obvious, there's the prostate and a lot of men find that a pleasurable spot to stimulate." "Huh." Jack nodded in thought, his gaze wandering along the sidewalk as they crossed through the park, "I take it you answered with a little too much insider info?" "I don't think that's anything you need to know." Robby answered with casual defensiveness and a shake of his head. "It really does feel nice, y'know." With that comment, Robby had to do a double take. Jack snorted. "... what?" Robby really doesn't need to know that, nor should he. What Jack does in his free time, so long as it isn't going to get him killed, isn't any of Robby's business. But he was still oddly caught on the idea of Jack... was it with his wife? Was it on his own? A hookup? Robby tried hard to push that aside. That's his coworker. His friend. He should NOT be thinking about the man in a sexual manner. And, almost needless to say, it was a little weird for a straight man to fixate on what another straight man has or hasn't put in his ass. Maybe he had some deconstruction to work on later. Something about this was putting him off. "That's uh.. good to know, I guess." Robby stumbled over his words just as he stumbled off of the curb, almost grateful for the way Jack's hand snapped out to yank his backpack. "Got any nicknames you want to ask me about? Can't say I have too many interesting stories like that." Jack asked as he steered the man back onto the sidewalk until the crosslight changed. He spoke so casually. So comfortably. Like he hadn't just said something Robby was definitely going to be thinking about later. "I have always been curious about 'freckle-puncher'..."

baby daddy!pope who’s always the first one to wake up (and he’s glad he is because you do so much already) whenever your baby’s crying and fussing during the night. he’ll walk over to his crib and carefully pick him up, rubbing and patting his back gently as he tries to soothe him back to sleep. if it’s not working, he’ll carry him downstairs and make him a bottle of formula with his free hand while perfectly balancing your son with the other.

there is something so, so comforting about rabbot to me.
