i am having my point proven lol. for all intents and purposes, unless you have some very specific extenuating circumstances, most of the meat and dairy you eat comes from exceptionally evil and cruel places that absolutely torture the fuck out of the animals involved. so sorry that some vegans are annoying about deer hunting but i think they more or less have the moral upper hand here.

it wouldn't be so easy of a gotcha to point out the labor exploitation in agriculture if vegans didn't focus exclusively on the animal abuse in the meat industry. because humans are also abused and exploited in the meat industry but they almost never talk about it. they come off as the kinds of people who would see a post about a cat being put up for adoption because its owners were kidnapped by ICE who then go on to sympathize exclusively with the cat as if the owners aren't real people who exist.

yeah I was thinking after I posted that and reread that I probably was coming off as needlessly confrontational, my bad I apologize for the hostile tone. I forgot to add an addendum at the end about how I was strictly vegan for like 5ish years and now it's more of an on and off thing. I guess my point was moreso that the way they focus on the animal cruelty aspect and overshadow/ignore the human cruelty is why they struggle so much to convince people who would be on their side otherwise. they have a point there for sure but it comes off as insincere when, at least based off my experiences, it's only one of two primary/common arguments for why ppl should go vegan. the other one being the ppl who treat it like a diet and the secret to being skinny forever lol.
