just in case anyone needs resources: you may be eligible for SNAP/EBT, food not bombs may have a location in your area, do you know where your local food bank is? did you know that churches often have food pantries, and they may also be in contact with or know of other churches that have food pantries or entire religion affiliated charities that have intricate systems in place to provide more food more reliably and also often offer other resources! ask your religious friends if their church has a food pantry or has connections with any religious charities. these resources are often most accessible in cities, suburbs, metropolitan areas and big towns, but there might be some food pantries in your small town that you don't know about too! if anyone else knows of reliable resources add them!!
even if you don't need extra resources it might save your ass or a loved one, with how unstable the political climate is these days, to familiarize yourself with the resources your community has to offer! also, it's a great idea to get to know your neighbors and see if they need any resources! our country is going to shit and we need to look out for our neighbors, we need to come together. none of your neighbors are expendable. they are people. don't let a single one fall victim to this administration, raise hell if they do!

'middle age' is typically considered to be between 45-65
it is extremely common to switch careers, start new relationships, emigrate, go to college for the first or second time, or make other life-changing decisions in middle age
it's wild that I even have to spell it out, but older adults (60+) still have social lives and hobbies and interests.
you can still date when you get old. you can still fuck. you can still learn new skills, be fashionable, be competitive. you can still gossip, you can still travel, you can still read. you can still transition. you can still come out.
young doesn't mean peaked. you're inexperienced in your 20s! you're still learning and practicing! you're developing social skills and muscle memory that will last decades!

Still thinking about how Leandra told Hawke that she fully expected them to do the deep roads exhibition but then begged them to not take Bethany/Carver with them. How the fuck would that make someone feel. “It’s your job in the family to be expendable but please I can’t handle the possibility of losing the child I actually view as my child.”
And the worst part is is that it makes Hawke’s journey in DA2 make sense?? Like Hawke is the expendable one. But how do you cope with knowing your mother sees you like that as a kid? You turn to stories! And what’s more expendable than the hero? They’re supposed to die at the end, sacrifice everything they are for the sake of everyone else. It’s so easy to view Hawke’s decisions to always be getting involved in people’s problems despite great personal risk and little reward and then Hawke becoming the Champion if you believe that Hawke has internalized their mother’s view of them. It’s their place to be bleed for others. Their heroics are, by nature, self destructive (this is quadruply true if Hawke’s a mage btw). This is especially evident in act 1 imho bc how is Hawke going to be struggling to provide for their family day in and day out and yet still get involved in other people’s problems.
And I know Hawke goes by Hawke bc BioWare needed a neutral name for them but Hawke as a character really is a product of their family. People more eloquent than I have made posts about how Leandra was raised as the golden child in comparison to Gamlen (with the golden child being the role her family expected her to play) and how that ‘assigning roles’ for the Amell family was past on to Leandra when she had kids. (Also how this aligns perfectly with Leandra being from nobility but I digress). Instead of actually transcending this toxic mindset, Hawke embraces it entirely, though on the surface it may seem like the opposite.
