//So my dumb ass has been MIA for a while. I'm going to chalk it up to a fickle muse and lack of confidence in my writing. I'm going to try my best to be more active. And here's to hoping my writing actually improves.
Commissioned by @hawkeyesout-punks of Batmanâ66âČs Bookworm and Lydia. If I were to trust anyone to write these characters it would be Lindsey and Amie ( @theimpossiblescheme).Â

It was mid-afternoon in Gotham, and the streets were as busy as ever. One of the more popular store chains was having a big sale, and big sales meant big crowds, and plenty of deep pockets to go around.Â
Crow never took more than she needed at any given moment, but right now she needed a lot. She hadnât eaten in at least twenty-four hours, and if she could get her hands on some money, sheâd be able to afford enough to tide herself over for at least the next few days.
She hid among one of Gothamâs many alleys, turning a gear on her prosthetic leg. Everything was in check, all she needed to do was wait until the right mark showed up.Â
Leaning against her cane, she scanned the crowds. Her eyes locked on a group of people chatting excitedly among themselves. A few of them had cameras, and one was taking pictures of the aforementioned store.
Tourists; excited. Distracted. They might have money to pick, but they were quite far away. Sheâd have to wait for them to come nearer the crowded entrance, but they did seem like her best bet at the moment.
She could wait- after all, she had all day. It wasnât like there was anything or anyone to distract her.
Alexander always hated it when the streets were crowded, especially on the weekends. Â For one thing, it meant that he, Lydia, and young Catherine couldnât enjoy a quiet walk on their days off in peace. Â For another thing, it never meant anything goodâusually it heralded the arrival of some ridiculous new rogue or other, either because some idiot retailers decided to advertise that they were ripe for robbery or someone had included an encrypted message on a television display or sprawl of street graffiti.
This time⊠good lord, there were so many people crowded on this one corner that he could barely see the other side of the sidewalk, much less the sign everyone seemed to be gawking at. The father one wandered away from the academic district, the more so many of these small businesses seemed to blur together. And the constant waves of bloody tourists didnât help either.
âWhat on earth is everyone looking atâŠ?â  Still gripping Lydiaâs hand under his arm, Catherine ambling a few feet behind and skipping on and off the sidewalk curb, Alexander tried to crane his head over the heads of the crowd.  In doing so, he caught a glimpse of a stooped figure flitting through the shadows in the nearby alley.  So⊠there was at least one obvious source of trouble afoot.
Lydia walked holding her husband's arm, frequently glancing back to make sure Catherine was still there. On days where Catherine wanted to be more independent, Lydia was always on edge. Especially when the streets were this busy. Typically Catherine walked in front of them, but to avoid her getting trampled, she was behind them today.
She gripped Alexander's arm tighter, her attention shooting to the crowd, "I have no idea, but whatever it is must be something big. I mean, if a man who dresses as a bat and a clown fighting in the street is just a normal thing, then this many people..." her voice trailed off, "I don't know, but maybe we should have Catherine walk between us now?" she turned to look back at Catherine and stumbled, stopping in the middle of the sidewalk, "Alex? I-I can't see her."

"Can't sleep?" ~Lydia
ââŠI donât really sleep at all anymore, it feels like.â And yet he was constantly tired⊠just not tired enough to sleep. That was something that had always confused Peter about vampires, even during his film career. When they retired to their coffins to apparently hibernate for years upon years, did they do it because they needed the rest? Because they felt safe enough to hunker down in their castle fortresses for years? Because they were bored or satisfied with the dayâs conquest? Why would they even have to consider it, being the physically superior beings to humans in almost every way thanks to their occult spirits? No doubt all of these had answers that he was overlooking, what with his head feeling as though it had been stuffed with cotton and his eyes rubbed over with petrol jellyâŠ
âBut you donât need to lose sleep over me, my dear. You should keep your husband company.â
Lydia sat down next to him, "Normally, I would. But, Alex is sleeping. And since I can't sleep, I don't want to wake him up. It's no one's fault but my own that I can't sleep." she paused, "Honestly, I didn't know if anyone else was awake. But it's nice to have someone to talk to."

//I'm making this post as an explanation. My depression and anxiety have been kicking my ass lately. And some days it's not so bad, but as a result, I haven't had the mindset or energy to write for any of my rp blogs. And I wanted to apologise. Hopefully I'll get that energy back soon, but just know that I'll probably be a bit slow on replies and the like for a bit longer. I appreciate all of you for putting up with me. â€

Did my letters not satisfy you? They evoke pleasure and pain in equal measure.
But I have nothing to give you. My hands are empty. Not empty now.

I still have yet to experience fall, but dang if it isnât such an aesthetic
This style is incredibly nice to draw withâŠjust wanted to unwind because this week has been terribly stressful, and sometimes one would just like wellenore drinking coffee on a fall afternoon. And as simple as the background is, I really liked how it turned out.

"Remember me?" ~Lydia
âLydia, my dear, of course I remember you,â Peter beamed, bending over her hand and pressing a kiss to the back of it⊠noticing a ring onher finger with white and blue stones. Well, well, well, how time did fly⊠it seemed only yesterday she was ascared university student sleeping on his couch and devouring his bookshelves.  âYou seem to be doing very well for yourselfthese days!â
Lydia grinned, âItâs so good to see you again!â she paused, âIâm sorry I didnât invite you to the wedding. But youâre right, I am doing very well for myself, if I may say so.â
Lydia shifted her weight to her other leg, her smile widening, âWould it make up for not inviting you to my wedding if I invite you to my baby shower? Youâre the closest to a real dad that Iâve ever had, so I suppose that, if you wanted to be involved in their life at least, this little one would be your grandchild.â
âMy dear girl, it would be my honor.â Â It felt odd calling her a girlâafter all, she was a married woman now, with a child on the way. But Peter could hardly help the sentiment. Â In his mind, she might never cease to be the young teenager who talked about monster movies as if they were grand romances and discussed such far-flung dreams, some of which seemed to be coming true now. Â Mrs. Muir had found her ghost in flesh and blood now, it would seem. Â âNow, I insist that you tell me everything,â Peter added, holding an arm out to escort her. âEverything that Iâve missed these past yearsâwe have quite a lot to catch up on.â
She took his arm, smiling at him, then her smile flickered for a second, âIâve been arrested a few times, does that change anything between us? I promise that I am no longer involved in any criminal activities, but I wanted to be honest with you about whatâs happened.â
âArrested?â  Immediately Peter frowned in concernâof all things he had been expecting to hear after seeing Lydia again after so long, that was certainly not it.  âWhatever for?  Of course, IâI could never suspect you of anything too dire⊠you would never⊠and I still care for you, you know that⊠but I do wish you would have told me if you were in trouble.â  This was precisely why he hated falling out of touch with people, particularly his childrenâGod only knew what this poor girl had been tangled up in since the last time they saw each otherâŠ
"I was arrested for theft. But, it's not all bad. I wouldn't have met Alexander if I hadn't been arrested." she hesitated, "I wanted to call you when I got my phone call, but I was scared. My fear got the better of me, and I didn't want to risk being disowned by someone I cared about."

My biggest fear is that one day my kids will be crying alone to themselves at night and I wont know about it
@lydialimpetslibrary
âHow did you get out? I feel so caught in the cycle that the end is quite possibly a dream, and nothing more. I almost miss the small breaks I could capture before having to run away again, like some jackrabbit during a hunt.â
Lydia leaned back in her chair, "Well, the man I loved almost died during a job, and I hadn't told him I loved him yet. And that was when it really hit me that I was tired of running. That I didn't care about people knowing who I was. I realized I'd rather give back everything I'd take than lose him." she straightened, then took a sip of her tea, "Of course, it wasn't easy, I'm not saying it was. But it's the truth."
