What if will actualy died in the river, but all the supernatural stuff still happend.

What if will becomes less relevant each season because mike doesnt know how will woud act, because he only knows will when he's younger.

What if vecna captured him, and shows mike what he wishes to be true, for will to be alive and in love with him, because mike is projecting feelings he never got to admit because will drowned.

What if mike got together with el because he saw will in her, wich is why will is really similar to her and later gains powers.

And Joyce actualy took in Jane after hopper died, and mike imagines they would've been close.

And hopper actualy died, and mike also fantasize that he didnt, because 1, he took in Jane, and 2, he was really empathetic with mike and tried his best to find a reason for why will would've drowned, but never found out, and investigated wills death further when supernatural stuff started happening, wishing will was still alive because of said stuff.

I'm not sure abt this : will did technically drown, but vecna had tried to use will as his architect like in season 2, but will died before that, and wills mind lives on in vecna, and holly meets will in vecnas mind because of the connection the mind flayer and vecna both kept alive.

Not sure abt this either : will drowned because a group of kids ambushed him, but when they realized will coudnt swim they just ran. Those kids later got really protective of wills friends, but never tell anyone. One kid had wanted to tell the sheriff two years later, but he wasnt therem the next day it was announced sheriff hopper had died.

Maybe perhaps idk : Jane did recognize will in the picture mike showed her, but only because she recognized his face from memories she'd seen from vecna, who keeps trying to contact her.

Even more : Jane survived, but her possibly dying is mikes way of replacing wills death, because he and Jane are so similar to him that he convinced himself that she died or ran away.
