Many people don't understand the deeper meaning of this scene because they ignore Helaena staring at one of Jaehaerys' old toys at first. Her issue is less about marrying than it is about her chances of surviving a family war she has no desire to be embroiled in.

Helaena wishes she wasn't married to a relative that's a claimant to the throne, so that she wouldn't have to lose children to the war, like she did Jaehaerys, because they pose a political threat.

If she was married to a lord, she would've been out of the circle of the power tussle just by a bit. Having children directly in the Black vs Green power tussle is what led to Blood and Cheese happening, and now the risk posed to Maelor's life.

And that's why the people responding to that scene by stating Helaena should've married Jace, Aemond or Daeron (none of whom are lords but princes) are missing the point. Helaena wants no part in the war, but her male relatives have no choice but to fight. And their children would always be collateral and Helaena fears that.
