Obidome - also called pocchiri, is a decorative clip worn on obi. In Hanamachi it is worn only by maiko. Obidome is the most expensive part of maiko’s outfit. It is made of real gold, silver, jewels, pearls, corals… and may cost thousands dollars. Each obidome is unique and most of them are antique pieces, kept in the okiya for years.
