On May 22nd, I got an email from the people at Animazement about Artistās Alley tables being available at the last minute. This came completely out of left field, as Iād applied to the convention back in January but didnāt get in because theyād hit capacity. But you know what, I took the plunge and bought a table anyway!
I honestly thought I was going to do a lot worse than I actually did, but you guys surprised me! For a display that was mostly cobbled together in 3 days, save for the charms which were printed beforehand and the stickers which were designed beforehand (but printed in those 3 days), Iām happy it did as well as it did.
Everything was kind of a blur to me, because Iād traveled about 8 hours from my home just a little south of Atlanta to get to Raleigh, but in a way it was pretty exciting. I never expected to be able to do my first Artistās Alley so soon!
The guy at the table next to mine was SUPER sweet and I hope I get to see him again at another con. We even did a charm swap at the end of the con - one of my Espeons for one of his Latias+Latios ones.
The watercolor card commissions were a BIG hit, so my Spyro watercolor I did at the last minute did a good job of drawing in customers. I actually spent about as much time on that Spyro as I spent on the actual commissions anyway, so it was good practice!
Even though I offered commissions on my 9x12ā³ bristol paper, people were more interested in the smaller sketchbook pages for their pencil, ink, and/or marker commissions. Therefore, I picked up a new mixed media pad today that was roughly the same size as the sketchbook pages for the next convention (Anime Weekend Atlanta, hopefully?).
My print selection was very limited, as I had barely any time to prepare as it was and I had very little photo paper at home to make prints with, so I settled for a few mini prints in the end. Thankfully, the table did well enough without a big focus on prints, but I hope to offer some at my next con!
Many apologies to the people who wanted to pay with their credit card! I hope to offer card payments next Artistās Alley, now that I have more time to prepare.
To everyone who picked up a business card and decided to check out this blog: hi there and welcome! Pardon the dust; Iāve been pretty busy lately and havenāt posted much art in a while. I have a couple of digital commissions I have yet to post here, as well as all of the on-the-spot commissions I took at the con.
To everyone who commissioned me: thank you SO much! Your characters/your faves were all so fun to draw and paint, and you kept me busy but in a good way!
To those who expressed interest in charms of the remainder of the Eevee family: I may open preorders for Set B soon. Keep an eye out!
To the people whose commissions I havenāt finished yet: I will be mailing those out tomorrow ideally, now that Iāve had a chance to rest from the craziness of the weekend!
