"im lazy" i truly sympathize with executive dysfunction, but this is one of those quality-of-life things you need to prioritize. 3 minutes of research/installation will save you a thousandfold in time and energy. it can even help with brain fog (most people don't realize how much mental energy ads actually steal)

Install Firefox -> Settings -> Extensions -> uBlock Origin

this only blocks browser ads, but HOLY SHIT does that matter if you try browsing websites over apps when possible. which you should bc it's awesome and gives you SO much more control. E.g. blocks youtube.com ads and you can play videos in the background. I have never consensually opened the youtube app in my life

Pro tip: toggle on 'Desktop site' to avoid mobile sites that are purposely designed with fewer features (to bully you into using the app).

It was flagged as "Eksplicit", shadowbanned, and every reblog turned invisible. The flagging is also unappealable (unless that is an error, thanks tumblr)

Only found out because I tried to reblog with an update from your local trans unicorn siblings!

I cannot even LINK to my old comic without every new post getting deleted.

The original post was pardoned, but the shadowban still persisted and every reblog was hidden from the dash and flagged explicit. I'm not sure if it recovered by now, or if it's always going to be at risk of banning.

So whatever staff reviewed my complaint agreed that it wasn't explicit. So thank you for that, moderator. This highlights that the problem starts with bad actors reporting anything they don't like, and that it's a tossup if your appeal is seen by a bot, a normal human, or a bigot.

I'm grateful I can still touch people and spread positivity. Many of my queer siblings, brothers, and sisters - especially trans sisters - can't say the same.

But no matter what happens, we will always have each other. Every letter in our alphabet is a pillar holding up a beautiful world that only stands if we're all in it together. The rest of society may call you a monster, but it calls me one too. Maybe you won't hear it from the rest of them, but listen and you will hear it from me.

The thing younger fans need to understand is that 'content creator' and 'consumer' are social media marketing terms that did not exist as labels in fandom spaces until the past decade.

As a side effect of a lot of fan interaction happening on social media, you started reshaping what a fandom IS in order to fit within what a social media platform wants you to be.

See, social media platforms exist to advertise to you. That's it. That is how they make money. It's their reason for existing. You -- your attention, your time -- are the product they sell to advertisers for profit.

Social media companies divide their users into 'content creators' and 'content consumers'. That's where those terms come from. They're technical terms that originated in the Twitter corporate offices.

'Content creator' is the term for people who make things -- videos, funny posts, thoughtful comments, art, etc -- that other people want to look at. 'Consumers' are the people who use the platform because they want to look at that thing, and end up looking at a lot of ads in the process.

I loathe, loathe, LOATHE how we have taken to applying the terms 'content' and 'consumer' to ourselves outside of their business model. You do not exist to make money for a social media company. A drawing someone made is not 'content' for you to 'consume'.

A fandom is an informal social group. That's all. It's you and a bunch of other people who all like the same thing, and sometimes you enjoy the thing together. You don't have to create anything. You don't 'consume content'. You are hanging out with other people.

Stop forcing yourself into their boxes.

I was trying to track down a non-soundcloud version of Chords of Humanity, the song he wrote that when he was 17 was used by Doctors Without Borders, and instead found that it was used in a Fallout New Vegas mod that he may also have made at 17?

which is a sequel to another mod that's also credited to a Dylan Hollis, which I'm not necessarily assuming is him. Could have been a different Dylan Hollis who happened to have found the song by searching his name--oh, wait, there's a video of game play (with the song as background), and there's a tiny bit of voice acting...yeah, that's him.
