Inaba of the Moon

So basically city-wide madness happened every couple of weeks or so, from what she’d gathered, with varying intensity levels from climate changes to outright environment alterations. Talk about a real handful.

Reimu grinned a bit. Well, any monster that wanted to pick on Reisen would have to be crazy, or else they’d really be crazy very soon. She looked rather delicate but that certainly wasn’t the case.

"…What sort of transformation are you under that gives you an aptitude for guns?"

To tell the truth, Reisen had basically seen only about half of the city. She avoided the second and third sectors because they had nothing attractive going for them. She has no idea who would voluntarily go to such a choking or criminal atmosphere, because she definitely never wanted to.

This little clearing in the forest had been incredibly calm for the duration of the conversation, usually there was at least something rustling somewhere that she could pick up with her rabbit ears. Hearing Reimu's quip about guns brought a slight look of irritation to Reisen's face, but nothing much.

Man, how exhausting. A person couldn’t even sit still in this city!

"Well yeah," she chuckled. "This area seems very…you." Arms folding behind her back, she surveyed the area at Reisen’s side. The question dragged out this exhausted sigh though.

"That’s right, not even three full days ago. This city’s tangled up in more trouble than Gensokyo’s ever been…So hey, are you doing okay? These woods are pretty dangerous, aren’t they?"

Only three days? Then Reimu hasn't even seen what the city normally looks like. Although if she's met anyone else, they've probably told her that already.

"In case nobody has told you yet, this has a pretty troublesome time for  around the last week. Occasionally things get out of hand, but the entire city has been completely transformed for whatever is happening this time."

These woods are dangerous, but the longer Reisen's spent here, the better she's gotten at protecting herself without resorting to her insanity manipulation. It probably would have made things a lot easier, but now even when she's on the city's cooldown of her ability, she can still fight well.

Yeah, awesome.

She was shaken from this extremely important train of thought by an irritated tone. A familiar irritated tone…

Were those…ears? The cogs started to turn. Slowly…

Oh! It was that rabbit! Raisin, or something? That felt about right. She was kind of boring, but her ears were cool, and those eyes… What was she blabbering about?

"Bright Eyes! I didn’t know you were here." Why hadn’t she seen any communication lasers yet? What a gyp. 

"Well duh, it was really dark, and people were crying about the lack of light! So I made it better for them, you don’t need to thank me. Ehh, it’s not so bad! You can’t make an omelette without cracking a few atoms! Or something. What’s the big deal, are you mad at me? That’s not a very nice way to say hello…"

Classic Utsuho, mostly ignoring what Reisen was saying. She's dangerous and not the uh... brightest star in the sky, but at least you can take anything she says at face value. If there was ever a massive winter, she'd be useful as a heat source, but not one Reisen would hang around.

"Okay, so since you didn't pay attention to at least part of that, let me remind you. NUCLEAR FUSION CREATES LIGHT -AND- HEAT! You managed to not kill anyone with that, but you really need to be more careful."

It probably wouldn't have killed anyone, it's not like she was dropping a sun on people. Oh wait. It was.

"Maybe I would have given you a nicer hello if our meeting didn't start with me nearly getting burnt by you."

"Just following a hunch." She waved her purification rod as she tossed her hand. "But what about you?"

Around them, she could both sense and hear a variety of things. The distinct fairies of the Fairy Wood just made her think of the ones that lived near her shrine, and she averted her eyes again, determined not to let herself sulk.

"Are you taking a breather from all the chaos back in the city?"

"Exactly. As you might know I stay isolated in the forest for most of the time I'm not delivering medicine to people, so I tend to stay in this area even before the forest was this dense."

Out of people in Gensokyo to be with, Reimu is pretty decent. Sure she's a little lazy, but she's straightforward and dedicated to her work. There's also a bit of a temper in her, but Reisen probably could avoid that. Although recently she's made quite a few people mad completely on accident.

The “Fairy Woodlands” at night almost felt like the woods back home.

Almost.

A full moon bathed the magical forest in ethereal white light. Reimu cast it a brief glance before continuing to walk. She didn’t know what she was looking for, but quite contrary to her usual laziness, the events gripping the city were robbing her of a desire to sit and rest.

A spell card was turned over idly in her fingers, the black ink on it reflecting the light above. She could sense all sorts of things around, but…wait.

There was someone up ahead. An awfully familiar someone. Reimu picked up her pace. Seeing literally anyone from Gensokyo was a blessing.

Then there was the full moon, the time which she could see her older home the best. If this world had lunarians, then this would be the only time for traveling between Earth and it.

For the most part, Reisen had been avoiding whatever had been happening in the city for this 'event'. These forests seemed like a good place to avoid contact with others, at the cost of having to fight off various monsters that also hide here. 

Since coming here, her hearing has been getting even better than it usually is, and an ear twitched as a faint crunch could be heard from off in the distance. A silhouette soon followed, and then the crunching became louder and more frequent.

As the person got closer, the moonlight that filtered through revealed a familiar girl in a red holding a familiar rod. That's a new face calling out to Reisen in this city.

That was enough playing along for Pokey.

Scut-Butt! That's terrible if she had any idea what it meant, but the threatening tone in his voice told her to at least give him some information. 

Oh... time to make up stuff at an even faster pace.

"Are people’s eyes really that bad..? Didn’t think something like a bit o’dark would freak ya out so much…"

"Alright! I’ll help ya! So you can stop being whiny nerd babies for five minutes!"

The sun was her jam (the nuclear reactor of its core her bread), restrictions? So what if she couldn’t recreate and actual star yet, she had plenty of power at her disposal, she was sure something would work. So she raised her hand into the air, summoning an orb that was a favourite method of releasing her danmaku.

As the sphere was ready to burst, she pointed her control rod right into it, releasing both of her Flares in a blast of blinding nuclear radiance. 

It was no small effulgence. But no sooner than the orb had started to swell, did it release an incandescent deluge of lambent bullets explosively into the ground below. 

"…Whoops."

Suddenly she realized that there was one person she knew who could make such a light even in the times they were in. Dread filled her as she then remembered how stupid the creator of this light was.

And then she heard it, the splintering off of the little deadly danmaku. Reisen jumped as high as she could, attempting to dodge any falling near her, since a majority tended to hit people on the ground and hoping anything else that came near grazed.

Falling back to the ground, she caught herself pretty well, but was a bit dazed from the bright light. Finding the source from sight, she walked angrily over to the hell raven.
