yes. i know. that's almost always a freaking issue. Especially since for some reason the show is absolutely allergic to even age estimations of any character. It's genuinely hard to create a timeline because none of the character's ages are made clear. Sure, we could guesstimate based off of Pac and his friends' classes since certain courses are available for certain grade levels, and certain grade levels have a certain age gap for students. I did try to take a shot at it using my country's correlating grade/age categories in reference to the courses that Pac and his friends take, but. uh.

yyyeeeahhhh so I posted this image here on this blog before but Algebra 1 is pretty much a "beginning high-school" mathematics course. Ignoring the random trigonometry/geometry graphic with weird pre-calc questions, the equivalency would be that Pac would be in Grade 9. which means he'd be between 14-15 years old. okay, standard. Similar to his Science and History courses, there's some consistencies there.

so then why is Cylindria here. she's taking biology which is at MINIMUM a Grade 11 course. atleast thats when I was able to take it when I was still in school. Is Biology in this universe for grade 9s? Or is Cylindria potentially ahead in that course in particular? okay fine, let's say either of those were true.

this is. BASIC multiplication and financial literacy. from grades FOUR to SIX.

and don't tell me it's because this show's audience is for nine-year olds, these are teenagers. something's up with their curriculum. but that only further makes me scratch my head around how old these kids exactly are. These inconsistencies pile up and lead up to these kids being between ages 9 and 11. ...almost like this show's age rating. sigh. not even gonna get into that.

So, guesstimating ages based on their courses doesn't work consistently (atleast in my country). I've even tried to estimate how far Pac and his friends went back in time in Pac to the Future on the counter, but it's all just nonsense! And I would've assumed that maybe they're all 16 years old because of the episode Drivers Pac (since to get your license you have to be 16 years old) but then I remembered that in some provinces and I believe in some states it varies between them. I'd even try and use the US as reference since they use a learning permit system and the show is. pretty American, if I wanna be real honest. But nope, same issue.

So I can't use a drivers license minimum to try and make an assumption, especially since some states/provinces also imply that every single one of Pac's friends and Pac himself have failed atleast once in their courses and have to retake it, which is just really annoying to work around.

So at that point I just! gave up for a while! None of the characters' ages either make sense or are consistent enough to rely on! And the tells that could very well be used for that purpose of giving an answer to how old everyone or even ANYONE is is either shoved aside (coughcoughepisode2coughcough) or it just never exists.

and then i looked at the damned storyboards.

On Episode 5, Season 2; Scene 59; Shot 12; on Page 97; on the official David Earl portfolio storyboard entry for "That Smarts", there's this panel.

is the ONLY ONE THAT EXISTS that gives ANY indication of how old ANYONE IS EVER.

And it's NOT even the trio, it's for Sir Cumference and Spheria. They are octogenarians, which means that they are between the ages of 80 to 89. Still a stupidly big range, but it's the first time EVER that anyone's ever stated any character's age with a range. And it's NOT even directly in the show. This freaking sucks.

also it implies that Sir Cumference in "Rip Van Packle" is between 150-159 years old. a supercentenarian. Come on now, not even the oldest person in the world is close to that.
