Just saw an advanced screening of Dumbo
And it was cute! Dumbo was my favourite part! He was so cute and easy to empathise with despite being completely computer generated and non-speaking. I just fell in love with that little guy all over again!
The acting was good too! The star-studded cast was no disappointment and the production level was (of course) spectacular. The story, though, was where it all stopped short. The beginning was everything I expected, wanted, and got. The ending was sweet, touching, and good. But the climax and the rise just fell a little short. There a lot of nods to underlying stories, but no conclusion to them and it kinda pulled me out of the movie, to be honest. I went from trying hard not to tear up to not caring and being apathetic.
It’s a fun movie for kids, but definitely not for those sensitive to animal captivity. But it’s Dumbo! You should’ve known when you saw the title. Would I recommend it to those who watched the original? No, you aren’t missing out. Maybe just to see how freaking cute the little elephant is, but that’s it. Children will enjoy it and it’ll be entertaining for them!
All in all, I LOVE THE BIG-EARED ELEPHANT! So fucking cute!!! Also, if you cried in the animated one, you’ll cry in the first third of this movie. I did at the right parts.
