Every prime number up to 1,000,000 (1000*1000). Each white pixel represents a prime number counting left to right, top to bottom.
Daily #739! I should probably never live by myself. I am not good at the whole “take care of yourself” thing.

These are just some of the hoaxes I keep seeing circling around Tumblr. Here are more of them, including images like John Lennon playing guitar with Che Guevara (no, didn’t happen). Oh and yeah, some of them are awesome but people who post them still shouldn’t lie about what they actually are.
The view from on high
As seen on the National Geographic News the Milky Way galaxy lights up the night above two ALMA radio telescopes in Chile’s Atacama Desert. The altitude—5,000 meters (16,400 feet) above sea level—allows for exceptional visibility. The Southern Cross constellation (Crux) is visible to the left of the radio telescope in the foreground; Saturn is the brightest orb of light halfway down the image to the right.

One would assume that scientists, who are trained to think objectively, are completely immune to gender discrimination. However, a recent Yale study by Corinne Moss-Racusin and colleagues suggests otherwise.
The researchers created a fictional student and sent out the student’s application to science professors at top, research-intensive universities in the United States. The professors were asked to evaluate how competent this student was, how likely they would be to hire the student, how much they would pay this student, and how willing they would be to mentor the student. All of the applications sent out were identical, except for the fact that half were for a male applicant, John, and half were for a female applicant, Jennifer. Results showed that, with statistical significance, both male and female faculty at these institutions were biased towards male students over female students.
Data from the study shows that on average, science faculty was willing to pay the male applicant about $4,000 more per year. source

I had to read this study for class. It is thorough as fuck.
It’s also real with race, similar studies have been done.
I want you to read that. And then read it again and tell me we don’t have problems with representation in the media.

The only known video footage of Anne Frank
I can’t think of any reason why someone would not reblog this.
If this isn’t interesting/sad to you, then I don’t know what you like in life.
These brilliant paintings were made by Duane Bryers, the artist responsible for my all-time favourite pin-up girl. Hilda is not only sexy, but she has a distinct personality that I don’t see in the other girls of her category. While most pin-ups are simply eye candy, Hilda makes me laugh and marvel at her adorable down-to-earth-ness.
Hilda exemplifies my single lifestyle goals perfectly.
Casuarina glauca is in the plant family Casuarinaceae. Commonly known as Australian pine, this species and the others in this genus are in fact not related to pines! Pines are gymnosperms which means naked seed, unlike angiosperms that enclose their seeds in fruit, and produce flowers! C. glauca can also fix nitrogen through a symbiotic relationship with Frankia bacteria. Follow for more plant facts and photos!

Infamous Study of ‘Dark Side’ May Be Guide to Keep it at Bay In 1961, with memories of Holocaust atrocities and the prosecution of Nazi officials at Nuremburg still fresh, psychologist Stanley Milgram undertook a series of now infamous experiments on obedience and reprehensible behavior. About two-thirds of Milgram’s nearly 800 study subjects, pressed by an authoritative experimenter, were willing to administer increasingly powerful electric shocks to an unseen stranger despite cries of agony and pleas to stop. "Milgram claimed to have found sort of a dark side to human nature that people were not quite as attuned to," says Matthew Hollander, a graduate student in sociology at the Univ. of Wisconsin-Madison. "His study participants were much more likely to obey than he expected, and that was an understandably uncomfortable result."
