So, I haven't been able to update about the current situation in Bangladesh for a long time because unfortunately I dislocated my shoulder and got very sick for the past 12 days, it hurts like hell. So anyways, as I was saying, the situation. Ah, yes. Ehm, so lemme explain this really quick below (not really cz there's a huge history behind this whole protest thing)-
The Bangladesh Government is now currently being run by AWAMI LEAGUE party and Sheikh Hasina is currently the leader of this political party. So, I'll call it BAL for short. BAL has been active for the past 70 years. Since Sheikh Hasina is the daughter of the late Sheikh Mujibur Rahman who was the founding father of Bangladesh, the people of BD are quite sympathetic towards Hasina's rule. Even though she had boosted Bangladesh's economic growth over the past years rapidly, there's still some controversy regarding Bangladesh's sensitive political issues which Hasina tries so hard to avoid.
BAL has been the ruling party since 2009. Since then, Bangladesh's been experiencing some democratic backsliding. Even though she has contributed into establishing many national wealth through building bridges, airports, highways etc etc, there's still some controversy surrounding Hasina's political party which includes health Minister, Foreign Affair Minister, Education Minister, Law Minister etc. Now THIS is the main problem, Hasina's political party is filled with her own relatives, her father's close-knitted people, Hasina's own trusted individuals, and the grandchildren of the freedom fighters of BD. Now, why do the people of BD heavily criticize Hasina's choice of people? It's because all of them are totally corrupted, none of these so-called ministers possess any amount of humility, honesty, common sense and I could go on and on forever about the fact that none of them are fit enough to be in those important positions. Money laundering, terrorist funding, embezzlement are done by them regularly and it affects the nation very poorly. They were only chosen because of their connections to Hasina's family directly or indirectly.
All those aside, those who've been following my updates about Bangladesh knows that the students of BD were actually protesting against the law of Quota which previously concluded 56% quota. 30% for the freedom fighters and their descendant. On July 21, the supreme court of BD finally reduced the percentage of quotas from 56% to 7%, which is ironic, considering the fact that BD's PM Hasina said that supreme court had no right in this quota movement and supreme court responded that the laws of Quota reform were not in their hands. But suddenly, when the death toll of innocent students kept rising and people were finally starting to get agitated, out of nowhere, the court decided that they should take matters in their own hands and therefore reduce the Quota percentage. They literally trolled the students for no fucking reason.
So, you must be thinking that since the students got what they wanted, the protest must have ended, right? WRONG! It didn't. Newsflash- it got more violent than before. Why? Because, on 18 July, there has been a HUGE MASSACRE of students in Bangladesh, it is still unknown that how many students actually got killed on 18th July, bcz the sources say that more than 300 bodies were buried in Rayer Bazar- a well-known historical sight in Bangladesh, mainly known for the fact that hundreds of BD's intellectual figures were executed in this exact place in 1971 liberation war.
On 18th July, polices open fired on the students at BD's prestigious universities. Which is why, the whole country suddenly erupted into madness. College and high school students also started to take part in these protests in order to help their big brothers. But the polices did not spare them considering their age. 14,15,16,17 ages of teenagers got brutally killed by BD's police and university students were attacked by BD terrorist student league mobs and teargas fired by the Police forces.
But you wanna know what's the most horrifying thing? On 18th July, when these massacres took place, the telecommunication minister thought that it will be a FANTASTIC IDEA to turn off the whole nation's Internet connections and turn off social medias like Facebook, Whatsapp, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok so that the international News could not get a whiff of what was currently happening in Bangladesh. And they did the exact thing. Things were starting to get from bad to worse on 18th July, 7:00 PM, and suddenly all network connections were turned off without any warning and the Bangladesh cut off its people from the world at that night. You could probably imagine how the people felt when the internet service was turned off. It almost felt like there's a genocide going on in Bangladesh and they could not know what the Govt was implementing on those poor students. My cousins exclaimed that it almost felt like as if there's a war going on from constant helicopter flying over their houses and teargas being released and guns being fired till midnight.
Bangladesh's internet service is controlled by a company named Broadband, so the ICT minister turned off that company and he wrongfully accused the students burning down cables and thus, jamming the network connections. Obviously, the people weren't THAT level of stupid to not know that this was another act staged by the Bangladeshi Govt and it turned out to be true. After the network connections were restored, no signs of arson being committed by the students were found inside that network building.
For more than 7 days, the network connections were completely turned off and my family could not even call any of my relatives as they ALSO turned off phone connections helping to contact aboard. So, we were completely cut off from our relatives staying in Bangladesh and the BD news channels also stopped their productions aboard after the ongoing protest. It was mainly done by the govt so that people start blaming the students for their country's situation and to stop spreading real information about causalities worldwide. But unknown to them, the people were fuming with anger, and they were throughout disappointed by their own govt for even doing such thing and making their own people suffer from no contact aboard.
The ICT minister later on restored the network connection but it was so poor that people started to use vpn just to get into contacts with their relatives living aboard. My family got into contacts with my cousin after 9 days since 18th July. And the aftermath of all of this was devastating. Because the Net connections were completely off and the Govt suddenly declared nationwide curfew from 18th July midnight till now, netizens weren't aware of the heinous crimes which were committed by the Govt for the past 7 days.
A 7-year-old boy got killed by a bullet shot straight into his head in his own home. The bullet came out of nowhere when the polices were raiding their neighborhood and it is being considered that the shot was fired from a helicopter. The boy was simply closing his windows because the polices were releasing teargas in order to kill the remaining students from protests, but who knew that he will later die that night? Another 2-year-old girl got killed after a shot was fired from a helicopter to the rooftop of the girl's home. The girl bleed to death and was held into her father's arm during her last moment. Another girl was killed who recently had the pleasure of being a mother, she was just simply loitering around her balcony then suddenly a bullet was fired from outside and the girl instantly died because the bullet hit her head severely. Many children died in those past 7 days and the news are now being published one by one and the evil regime of Hasina is now finally being revealed to the nation.
In those 7 days, the people had no other communication ways, and they were only dependent on news broadcasting channels. But unfortunately, out of more than 30 news channels, only one channel called JAMUNA TV actually provided real news with sources. Other news channels already sold their soul to Bd's Fascist Govt and they spread propagandas after propagandas about how the students were committing arson around the whole country and destroying national wealth and weakening Bd's economy etc etc. The ICT minister, a complete garbage and a fucking asshole, accused the students of damaging the internet network connection and not for even ONCE he confessed that he was the one to turn off the internet because Hasina told him to do so. What a fucking idiot and a complete fool, he greatly underestimated the people of Bangladesh, because they already knew that all of this fake news were being spewed by the fascist govt in order to grow hatred for the student protestors.
So, after the internet got restored, the situation got absolutely worse and bengalees got super mad at their fascist govt and from 24th July till now, not only students but also teachers, professors, advocates, lawyers, corporate officers, minimum wagers, garment workers and rickshaw drivers joined this united march against their fascist government. The students formed a group which consists of 6 members titled "Non-discrimination Student Movement" and the 6 members are coordinators. Unfortunately, police detained the 6 coordinators one by one from 26th July to 28 July. One of the coordinators was brutally beaten by police for leading the protest. After their arrest, the public demanded their release and threatened the govt if they don't release them quickly, the protests are going to be much more violent from days on.
On 28 July, six protest coordinators of the non-discrimination Students' Movement, who had been taken into custody by the Detective Branch, issued a statement from the DB office announcing the withdrawal of the protests. However, other coordinators of the same organization alleged that these individuals had been coerced by the DB into making the statement. The remaining coordinators vowed to continue their protest, with or without the support of the six individuals. Their statement was released in the social medias but the polices were foolish enough to not notice that one of the 6 coordinators was actually sending MORSE CODE, and it went like this-" Help the students. This is a trap. We are being forced."
The students instantly got their message, and the protests turned into something that will possibly change Bangladesh's whole history. Previously, the 6 coordinators only issued a Nine-point demand which included the facts that the polices involved with hundreds of students' murders were brought upon in front of the court and the chancellors of BD's prestigious national universities were fired from their position because they failed to protect their students. Since the Fascist Govt wholly rejected the Nine-point demand and continued their massacre, the students now issue only 1 point demand. The One-point demand is-Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina must resign from her position and Awami League must be demolished forever. A very badass demand indeed, but this demand costed more than thousands of lives of innocent student protestors of Bangladesh.
Since the Non-discrimination Student movement vowed to not let their brothers and sisters' death go in vain, the NDSM has declared a Non-cooperation movement from 3 August till 4 August. On 3 August, more than 300K people gathered in the Shaheed Minar- a national monument of Bangladesh located in Dhaka, built in the memories of the language martyrs of Bangladesh's 1952 student movement.
Obviously, the fascist government already got their knickers in a twist, and they've started to piss in their pants so they will try their outmost in order to demolish this student protest forever. This fascist Govt is now planning ANOTHER FUCKING COMPLETE SHUTDOWN LIKE 18TH JULY and the people of Bangladesh has had enough. The Govt already declared curfew from 4 August, started at 6 PM to indefinite time. They have also decided that whoever takes any sort of action to break curfew will suffer a fate worse than death. Which means- break curfew, shoot at sight. And since the Bengalee Students of Bangladesh are bunch of Lions, they are going to do the exact same thing they've been warned not to do so.
I'm writing this now laying in my bed, it's already early morning in Bangladesh and the students are probably getting ready for a "Long March for Justice" which is going to take place on 5th August, including EVERY single citizen of Bangladesh, in order to demand justice for the lost souls martyred in the "July Massacre" till now. The Govt have already deployed Armed Forces, border Guards and RAB Forces to fight and shoot those un-armed students and civilians. Little do they know, is that when you get a whole nation agitated, crippled with fear of losing their freedom for forever, they do not fear death anymore. I'm physically in another state but mentally I'm there with my brothers and sisters in Bangladesh. I wasn't able to post anything for the past 14-15 days since I was very sick and suffering from a dislocated shoulder-crisis. Also, not only that, but we, immigrants were totally cut off from contacting anyone from Bangladesh because of network issue for more than 12 days. We had NO IDEA about what was happening in Bangladesh since the foreign affairs minister completely banned many news channels from broadcasting news aboard.
I'm sorry if I cannot portray my country's situation in a way that's going to captivate people's attention because I completely suck at writing essays so yk. But I have so many things to say but I just cannot say it yet because of my inexperience in writing about serious issues like this. So, forgive me and bear with me and my horrendous, terrible writing. I promise I'll get better than Shakespeare himself just give me some time.
All jokes aside, Bangladesh is facing a very crucial time now which is going to be - 1. shed light on a completely new revolutionary leader that's going to lead Bangladesh or, 2. Bangladeshi students are going to get completely fucked up and even God knows when I'll be a target too because of my constant involvement with writing on social media platforms about educating others on the situation of Bangladesh given the fact that Sheikh Hasina is now completely desperate to keep her position at all costs.
Many well-known judges, barristers', political leaders have already left Bangladesh via private airplanes to avoid persecution of the students of Bangladesh. Which I've already predicted would happen because they're a bunch of pussies with no moral concern of their own nation which is now burning. The students are going to break curfew, so we are already preparing for another massacre going to take place on 5th August. The students of Bangladesh are really brave, they only wanted equal rights but got dirt splattered on their faces by their Fascist Government, which is very sad and disappointing. It is now proven that Sheikh Hasina is nothing but a ruthless dictator ready to pull many strings in order to stay in power. But I personally believe that the citizens of Bangladesh are going to win this time.
If the Government actually falls this time, then the Bangladeshis have to get ready for another revolution. Since the power of ruling the country will go to Armed forces and they are 10 times worser than Hasina. It's either- stay and get tortured for the next 3 years till another election, or- fight your way out of military rule and thus establish a free sovereign state of Bangladesh again. Even though most of the Army officers are now against Hasina's regime, no one can trust them since the higher level of officers are Hasina's relatives and they will 100% betray the Bangladeshi netizens. So, they are fucked in both ways. None of these points are easy, but if we pray hard enough, it will be over one day.
Please reblog this post if you can. This is my longest post so far, and it was very hard to write since I still have so many things to talk about, I think this is enough for people to understand that the students of Bangladesh have started a revolution in order to rebel their fascist Government. Thanks to whoever that's reading this post or read the post. Forgive my grammatical errors bcz I'm suffering from some health issues recently.
