I’m sorry but I think this is a good time to bring up something really important. Critique that is directed at writing skills is different from critique that points out racism, ableism, or misogyny, or anything of the like. It is okay to make something badly written, it literally is. Whats not okay is racism, ableism, or misogyny. I’m not necessarily saying that the way Eulalie’s autism and Pluto’s partial blindness are represented is strictly ableist, or if theres any like clearly misogynistic themes at display in the story (its actually attempting to be feminist) (its not doing that great of a job despite that being like the whole point), but what I’m trying to say is that these things that are being pointed out aren’t just creative decisions that someone doesnt agree with or something. People are trying to say “this is racism” “this is ableist” “this is whatever” and it’s not a joke nor is it simply bad writing. It’s a cause for concern, at the very least. It’s a sign of ignorance; it’s almost a reflection of the people in charge of writing a story. Criticism and “callouts” may look similar but serve very different purposes.

Also on a less serious note people can criticize bad writing. In general. And they can also be wrong about their criticisms without getting bashed because this fandom is full of teens that are developing critical thinking. And more importantly they can not care about what the creators think of it?? Like I personally think annabel is a bit under developed in my opinion #myopinion but like I genuinely can not give a single flying fuck what red thinks of that nor if she cares to do anything about it?? Its her story and she can do what she wants? And the people who are pointing out things like, you know, the very blatant historical revisionism thats going on, are expecting an apology more than anything considering it’s probably too late to add the 500 extra layers of depth that the introduction of racism would bring with it 160 chapters in. Hell, you guys know they’re not on tumblr right? Or at least we think they are? No idea why they’d make that stunning 4th of july art after being called out on tumblr for being historical revisionist.

Anyway that nevermore news post deserves to be put in a museum it was amazingly ignorant like I genuinely don’t know what they were thinking. 4 likes after 3 days is impressive. Also “Help! It would be nice to see Anabel rethink the concept of marriage. With Lenore's arrival in her life instead of a cage it turned into liberation, a deception of the rules imposed by society. Instead of a random man who would suppress her will, she has a woman she can trust.

In this case, Annabel is bragging here not that she is someone's wife, but that she has someone on her side.

But for that we need Annabel's reflection scene. AND WE DON'T HAVE ANYTHING LIKE THAT.

In fact considering that we're at most somewhere in the middle of the story I don't rule out that this scene could be one of the lowest points in Annabel's development. Lenore sacrificed herself for her and now Annabel feels even more indebted to her. Perhaps her whole being had never revolved so much around Lenore.

Anyway we still have time to develop the character and find Annabel's personal self-worth! look i'm trying to be optimistic here okay....
