when you and grim arrived in the dining hall for breakfast, ace has to stifle a laugh at your appearance.

"pfft- not only is- is your blazer inside out," he comments, "there's toothpaste all down your shirt! rough, ahaha, morning- ow!!"

deuce, feeling sorry for you, tugs on ace's ear, successfully shutting the ginger up. he offers you a few napkins and an apologetic smile.

you fix your blazer and clean up the toothpaste stain as best you can and go to get food. the options today aren't great, but it's better than nothing, you suppose. picking up a fruit cup and a bowl of yogurt, you return to the table.

of course, misfortune decides it must strike again.

before you can get back to ace and deuce, you trip over someone's shoe. your bowl of yogurt spills off your tray and onto your bottoms. great. what makes the situation better is the way the hall goes completely silent for a few moments. you feel the familiar weight of hundreds of eyes on you, then the chatter picks back up just as it had before.

with a loud sigh, you fight back tears that well up in your eyes. the utter exhaustion that wracks your mind and body doesn't help the way your lip trembles from humiliation. you bend down, pick up the bowl of yogurt, and set your tray in the dish bin. ace and deuce approach you but are ignored as you push past them into the hallway.

alone, finally.

pitifully walking through the empty hall, you wander in the direction of one of the bathrooms. the sliminess of the yogurt that drips down your pant leg spurs you on with some sense of urgency. a few of the tears slip down your cheeks and you let them, submitting to the misfortune of your morning.

"oh? is that the ramshackle prefect i see?"

of course. headmaster crowley has to witness you like this. it's not like he hasn't seen you in bad positions before; after all, he was the one who courteously permitted you to stay at his grandiose school.

you muster up whatever remains of your self-respect and turn around to face the ever flamboyant crowley.

"uh- yeah. good morning, headmaster," you say, your misery evident.

he pauses, looking at your jumbled appearance, before frowning. he crosses his arms across his chest and sighs.

"goodness me," he comments. "what adversity has decided to grace you with its presence this morning.. luckily, as i am so very charitable, i have a solution! follow me."

crowley turns on his heel and walks off, leaving you with the choice of entertaining his alleged solution or sulking in the bathroom until class starts.

well, it's not like the morning could get any worse.

when the pair of you arrive in his large office, a box sits atop his desk. he chuckles and claps his hands together, walking to his desk.

"ahh, yes! prefect, i and several of your professors have noticed your disheveled appearance in class. to combat it, i have put together this gift for you. feel free to sing your praise as i have been so very kind in thinking about my dear student!"

crowley passes you the box. inside is a new uniform and shoes, along with a few basic toiletries such as body wash and hair care.

the tears return, though this time they are ones of gratitude.

"headmaster.. i- this is the kindest thing anyone has done for me in a while," you sniffle. wiping your tears away, you turn to him and smile. "you really are a great person, thank you so much!"

smiling back at you, crowley gleefully laughs and pats your head. "of course, it is all part of my job as the leader of such a prestigious institution!" he ushers you to a bathroom that is only a few steps from his office and insists you change into the new uniform.

it fits perfect, even the shoes. you wonder what kind of magic he cast on the fabric that allows it to be so fitting, but the fact he put in the effort to get you this brings you plenty of satisfaction. additionally, you take the brush that came in the toiletries set and re-comb your hair.

for the first time this morning, you know things are gonna be okay.

he takes you into town and has a list of cafes he wants to try with you heh

offers to pay for you literally the whole time

if you feel guilty he doesn't care cause he will pay for you!! (even if he himself doesn't have all that much money)

but if you insist on trying to pay, he offers to share his drink/pastry with you with a small smirk

uses this as a guise to find out what flavor profiles you enjoy so he can cater to your tastes

best bring your camera so you can take pictures of all the good food and drinks the two of you try!!

first, the two of you go to sam's and get a shit ton of snacks and drinks

when you get to his dorm, he flops down on his bed and asks if you've heard anything interesting about anyone

expect to get clipped a few times... he claims it's for memories ok??

the more the two of you talk, the more vulnerable he is willing to get with you

he starts talking about things like how social media can be a lot to keep up with and his worries about his last year in school

tries to play it off but you know better than to let him suffer alone

give him a few hugs and offer to feed him some ramen--it should help him cheer up

whether you like chess or not....

if you have no idea how chess works, he teaches you the basics

with a little teasing quips here and there, he guides you through different tricks

if you do know how to play, competition to the death

he does not hold back

you accepted and he knows that you can keep up.. maybe

he might be kind and let you win if you're down in the dumps about consistently losing against him

when you inevitably get tired of chess, he offers to let you stay in his room to rest

doesn't force you, but his tail will anxiously thrash as he waits for a response

movie date

pop culture is a huge part of who vil is and you have very little clue about it

he selects a few of his favorite films, maybe even one of his so he can show off how good of an actor he is 😈, and invites you to watch them with him

he comments on things he particularly enjoys and would totally wanna have a conversation with you about the film afterwards

definitely wants to know your point of view on stories and if there are any similar ones in your world

you guys sit on a nice couch and watch them together

unfortunately he accidentally does that cheesey yawning thing to put his arm over your shoulder

just because he's beautiful doesn't mean you don't have any effect on him!!

super chill and you like seeing a side of him that is so laidback yet passionate :)

like trey, he uses this to understand what kinds of things you like

is very upfront about things he thinks you would look nice in

if you happen to comment on something that you think would suit him, he gets a little flushed and makes a big deal about it (he keeps it in mind for later)

he encourages you to buy something, and if you don't have enough, he says he can cover the rest

you guys grab all the freebies you can hehe

when he walks back to nrc with you, he gives you something that he bought while you were distracted

it's something small, like a hair accessory or jewelry, but it means a lot nonetheless

gaming date but from different places

i love idia but i think he needs a little more time to warm up to you, especially the idea of being with you in person

so he offers to get you a gaming setup so you can game together

it's lowkey nothing to him cause he's a nepo baby (sorry) but he does it because it's a way he can show he's making an effort :,)

after getting all set up (thanks ortho!), he sends a few multiplayer games to you to see if any of them interest you

he prays you choose one so he doesn't have to internally freak out over one that will meet your standards

starts out quieter, but the more you play, the louder he gets

gives you a ton of tips because these games are new to you

also likes to poke fun at you if you're losing but he doesn't do it a lot

if you yawn he hurriedly asks if you're bored and wanna switch to a new game

he makes a list of the games the two of you really enjoyed so that on your next date, hopefully in person, you can continue playing them <3

honestly probably doesn't tell you about the date but he does show up way early for your evening walk

the sun is still up and he invites you to disomnia

when you guys get there, the common room is candlelit and a nice table is set up with a bunch of expensive yummy food

he ushers you over to your seat, pulling out your seat and scooting it in for you

as you guys dine, he says that lilia had wanted to cook for the two of you but sebek and silver helped put an end to that idea fast

speaking of... those three definitely eavesdrop and pray he doesn't fumble

afterwards, malleus says he has a new route he'd like to take you on for your walk

it's through a forest by ramshackle and he lights it with his fireflies

his hand brushes yours like seven times intentionally so you'd best just hold his hand

when he drops you off, he takes your hand in both of his and plants a kiss on the back of it before bidding you a good night <3
