Lukewarm Overthinker

I feel as though it should be known, as a Washingtonian, that I am 99% certain that “Mountport” is either purposefully based on or just definitively could be Port Townsend in Washington. It fits most of the criteria:

- While not actually on a place where the mountain directly meets the sea it is right next to both the mountain and where the Puget Sound directly goes into the sea

- It does not have a train going to Palm Springs, because they are both on the pacific coast it is not out of the realm of possibilities

the sexism in the community for the most popular ship to be the un-canon ship between two men over the canon ship between two women is absolutely baffling to me.

you can say whatever you want about jayce and viktor being queerbait, i frankly don’t care but i will say that take is frankly sexest and homophobic as well imo.

arcane already touches on queerness and queer relationships and in a world that highly values gay men over lesbians it gives a space for lesbians. it is also not queerbaiting to show a loving friendship between two men and whenever people see that they always jump to this conclusion but let’s be real if cait and vi didn’t get together NO ONE would be calling that queerbait.

just so you know: i do ship jayvik but not in the canon, simply because i do think they are better seen as emotionally available friends and i think viktor fits more on the aro-ace spectrum in cannon.

i also love caitvi but i recognize that as fans of things we have often been less excited to ship something that already exists, people often want what they can’t have.

in conclusion: ship whatever you want, seriously, even if you think jayvik should have been canon go ahead; but i think that the general consensus of calling it queerbaiting and likeing them better than caitvi is frankly a bit sexist and we should collectively consider our feelings on this when it comes to shipping or jumping on a train of calling something queerbait.
