There is a specific brand of straight male Adventure Time fan who hates all the female characters for not dating Finn, and it is solely for that reason that I really hope Fionna HW yuri becomes canon.

I suspect that the divisions between fears might be Smirke's doing, honestly. A significant portion of the avatars are familiar with his theories and probably unconciously molding themselves in accordance with them. This would also explain why in the Protocol they seem to be muddied - as there is no Smirke the avatars don't know what the split is supposed to be.

I swear Colin is just speed running Jon's arc from Magnus Archives. In less then a season he's gone from being the grouchy Co worker, to incredibly paranoid, to foolishy smashing haunted objects. If he hasn't become God by the end of this season I'm going to be very disappointed
