âThe art of seduction ay?â Remus repeated with a slight chuckle. âIâm coming out in hives at the very thought of it, Iâm far too British for the art of seduction, I think Iâm happier burying my feelings- not that I have any to bury anyway.â Despite never having a significant other Remus had never felt lonely. He had noticed that there had come a time in all of their lives where they had longed to share things with people, to walk through life as a pair, a team which they could brace life with. Remus Lupin had no interest being in a team and had no interest in more people knowing about him than already did. Hogwarts had been difficult, hiding in amongst his fellow students, taking sick days and pretending everything was okay. At least at Hogwarts the eyes he thought were trained on him were all inside his head. Now with his name on the register they were very real and he relied on others to decide if he was a monster or not and weigh in on the internal battle that circled in his mind each day when people thought he was particularly quiet or not paying attention.
Marlene clearing her throat brought Remus back to the conversation, a smile spreading across his features as he nudged Marlene playfully. âI will give you the best hugs thing, I think that is definitely true and through years of forced social interaction from you lovely lot.â reaching toward Marlene he pulled her into a quick hug, chuckled and let go allowing her to spin back out as they contained walking. âIâm glad youâve put yourself out there Marlene, I know what you went though canât have been easy so itâs good youâre looking to get back out there.â Remus had been there for Marlene after what had happened at Halloween. The sight of her white jumpsuit stained a ghoulish shade of red heâd seen so many times though his camera lens had been an image that would stick in his memory forever. Marlene McKinnon had always been a fierce and feared woman but that night she looked hollow and frightened grasping at her bare arms for comfort in the Ministry foyer. Their relationship had always been Marlene going to bat for Remus with her loud personality and quick wits, but that night the roles had been reversed and he had only hoped he had supported her in a way that was at all useful. âMaybe we can exchange stories.â He mused, reaching into his pocket and snapping off more of the liquorice wand before popping it into his mouth. âI havenât put myself in but I imagine Iâll end up in a pub somewhere. What I am interested in is how you pitched Mary to Grizel and if youâve got a death wish, but given I entered Sirius, Peter and James I canât really talk.â
âWell clearly I need to take you to spend some time in Scotland.â The witch teased with a light nudge of her elbow. âFire Whiskey and flying away from dragons will ignite some fire in you if the beautiful people donât. You know a little eye glint here,â The witch paused to bat her eye lashes with a delicate smile before continuing-Â âA little toss of the hair there-â Pausing again to toss her hair over her shoulders, before she elbowed him lightly:Â âA little nudge nudge- Iâll cover your hives in a beauty potion and away you go. Youâll be flying off on a broom into the sunset, quicker than you can say lumos.â Free arm looping around him lightly in a hug before she gracefully spun back out on the balls of her feet, finishing with a little wiggle before a bright smile pulled onto her features and a gentle laugh to boot; for once in a long time it finally reaching her eyes. âDonât let my size decisive you, I make a great big spoon-â The witch noted, moving to pick up another one of the strawberries chocolates before popping it in her mouth. âIâll spoon you moon bug donât worry, youâll be safe in my arms.â The witch spoke dramatically a wide grin on her lips.Â
âAre you sure you can fully handle my escapades?â The witch asked a smirk pulling onto her features as she quirked an eye brow lightly. âAs long as you donât dob me to Lily and expose all the places Iâve had sex in our apartment you can know every story in the book. What was that Muggle film called-â The witch paused momentarily before adding with a grin and light eyebrow wiggle: âThe good, the bad and the dirty.â Marleneâs romantic life since James Potter had been simpler and less complicated to say the least; which is exactly what she wanted. Stolen moments of affection with strangers as if the comfort of their embrace and the feeling of their hand pressed against her lower back could some how ease the storm that raged inside her chest. For a heart that felt like it was pieces back together with fragile string, it was the easiest form of distraction Marlene could find. It was hard to think of lifeâs troubles with a beautiful stranger under your fingertips despite how fleeting every moment was. For a girl refereed to so commonly as a star that lit up the night sky, despite what she might portray, she felt flickering in comparison to what others deemed her. She wasnât the sun, she wasnât powerful or even as brave as she wanted to believe herself to be. Perhaps simply getting through the day was enough, maybe if she said it so many times over âiâm fineâ, one day sheâd grow to believe it too. But for now? Risky situations and last nights mascara smudged under her eyes was enough. âRemus- youâre friends with the most troublesome people I know, can you really expect to simply be sitting absently? And I hope they didnât disappoint. And if they did Iâll gladly be taking matters into my own hands. I should put up a poster alongside these-â The witch spoke though paused as her head turned to glance lightly at the papers that hung in the breeze. One shining above all of them, the upcoming March for Equality. Pausing lightly in her tracks as she glanced over the parchment, a light frown of concern pulled onto the edge of her lips. Not even able to begin to understand what Remus could be feeling about the whole situation. Maybe he didnât want to talk about that, so instead she figured sheâd broach the topic from a different angle and lean into it. âDid you get his letter? Dumbledoreâs?â The witch asked quietly a light frown pulling onto her features as she turned her gaze up to him. @luhpxnsâ
