I want to keep it peaceful because Tumblr is a queer paradise yet still having a straight community. And sadly, what we do here, can also be used against us outside of Tumblr.

My position has always been clear, there is always freedom in what you want to do unless it becomes too much.

If I told you "oh, you're erasing this character's sexuality by making them gay and not straight as they should" you'd say "that's ridiculous" because fanfics aren't meant to be canon.

The exclusion thing i said came up due to an anon who came to my inbox claming exclusion is necessary. So just in case I'm repeating it, exclusion isn't the best plan for protection.

I do not want to be more likable, but I do want to be quite far from future problems that can also affect me by just being queer.

I love the queer community, I don't want this community to suffer more.

The queer community is a minority, it likely always will be. Even MORESO when it comes to more mainstream media where very few characters have confirmed queer identities.

The reason it’s done to “straight” characters is because they’re the majority- nothing is being taken away from them at the end of the day because it’s typically ignored. It stems from a time where queer rep existed only in the form of comedy or villains and even then their identities were not confirmed- they were implied due to it still being “wrong” or “taboo” to mention anything remotely queer in media.

So yes, when the straight community tries to erase the identity of a canonically gay man so they can jerk off to the idea of him being with a woman it IS a big deal.

It doesn't help that they are all describing what they would do to him in great detail.
