What have your travels taught you along the way?

There are many ways travelling can impact your life, but it all depends on how you decide to travel. One of these clearly opened my eyes on how I wanted my life to be. I happened to see while experiencing the countries through the eyes of the people living there. When you travel as close to the locals as you can, as simply as you can, you realise that many things in life are not that necessary. We, as humans, tend to complicate every little thing. We love creating constraints. But when you end up meeting people making the most of what we consider like nothing, you start questioning yourself about what should really matter in your life. And what matters to me now is to make sure I make the most of what I have and stop complaining about what I don’t have.

How has experiencing the cultures across 4 continents informed your work, and your point of view?

Even though I have been shooting on and off for the past ten years, I am just starting to grow a proper work vision. I remember being stuck by my lack of creativity. I felt like if there was nothing I could shoot where I used to live. But when I think about it today, it is such a beautiful place, I was just blind. Discovering other cultures is passionating, empowering and intriguing. But more than anything, It gives you a good understanding about your own culture and actually made me more aware and proud about where I come from. And having a cultural identity is priceless. This is why I am going to have a strong focus on France in the coming months. Not saying that I am going to stop travelling overseas, as it is a good way to get some fresh air about myself and my vision. 

What has been your favourite adventure to date?

I have had many interesting ones but my late favourite would be a day hike we did earlier this year with a bunch of good friends. It was the famous Tongariro Alpine Crossing, an 8 hour hike going over an active volcano. To avoid the crowd and arrive at the top for sunrise, we decided to leave the basecamp at 2am. There began an extraordinary adventure, fast-hiking completely alone in a moon-like landscape. We could see almost perfectly without using our torchlights, the moon was strong and the milky-way was right on the top of us. Then we arrived to the top around 6am to experience one of the most magical sunset I have ever seen. We were surrounded by clouds and silence. I will never forget this moment. We finished the hike at 10am completely exhausted. What a fun day!
