Barty Crouch Junior x Femme Reader
Author’s Note: I’m thinking of making this into a series! I think it has potential but lmk by liking, reposting or commenting! I am willing to write eventual smut and angst <3
Synopsis: Reader is the sibling of Remus Lupin. They are a Prefect and Headgirl of Slytherin. When doing a patrol one night they run into Barty Crouch.
The castle is eerily quiet at night. Everything and everyone is dead quiet: the paintings, the stairs, the owls, everyone seems to be exhausted after midterms. As a head girl and prefect, you’re patrolling the castle halls. As you walk down the halls the only sound is the soft steps of your ballet flats.
Your feet falter as you hear rummaging noises coming from Slughorn’s stock room. It’s not unusual for Slughorn to be up at night, but it’s safe to check.
As you turn the corner you see a taller, brunette, Slytherin boy with a boyish smirk and two vials in his hands. The door behind him— Slughorn’s supply closet door— shuts behind him with an echoing slam.
“How ya doin’ Head Girl?” Barty asks, as if he wasn’t just caught stealing from a Professor. “Why’d you have to chose tonight to be on patrol? You’re ruinin’ my heist.”
You hesitate, shocked by his ignorance and lack of a respect for Slughorn’s materials. “Junior, what on Merlin’s green Earth are you doing?! Slughorn is going to kill you!” You scold him in a whisper.
He smirks, leaning against the stone wall with casual confidence. “Oh live a little Lupin. Slughorn couldn’t find a boulder if it was in front of his face! He won’t notice a thing.”
You glare at him without a word.
“Tell you what— I get to keep one of these, I give you the other… and I won’t tell the school about that one time when you—“
Before he can finish his sentence you cut him off, “Merlin! Junior shut it!! Just put those back right now! No deals. Slughorn already has it out for you.”
Barty flashes at sloppy smirk at you. “Awh, look at you caring for me. Y’know, if it wasn’t you… I’d almost feel touched!”
You purse your lips and snatch the vials from his hands. Walking up to the cupboard he blocks your path.
“Junior, let me through.” You sigh, exasperated.
“Petrificus Totalus.” You mutter, willing him to go rigid and lean against the wall. You watch as his eyes follow you… if looks could kill…
You put the vials back neatly, which stand out upon Slughorn’s tornado of a cupboard. You lock the door and turn back to Barty.
“I’m going to let you go now, and because I’m so nice I won’t tell Slughorn you were out past curfew.”
You hold back a smile “Stay still if you appreciate my kindness and generosity.”
He stays still, besides his eyes which move around.
“Awh! Thank you Junior.” You say before unfreezing him.
The brunette catches himself on the stone wall before he falls flat on his face. With a glare he stands above you. “Lupin, I swear I’m going to kill you.” He won’t, it’s not worth it right now. Too much of a mess.
“Go back to the dorms Junior.”
Despite his lackluster insult he kicks the wall and then slouches back towards the dorm. With a sigh, you get back to patrol.
Crouch has always been the one to test you. Somehow he always found a way to get under your skin. During exams and O.W.L.S. he would summon roaches and release wild beasts into the castle. When you weren’t looking he would slip the wrong ingredients into your potions. One time you woke up to a hundred alarm clocks ringing in your dorm room. Even when he isn’t trying, he always seems to misbehave, bully or tease. “He must despise me.” You would think, shaking your head as you wrote him up, why else would he be so determined to cause trouble? Was he just that cruel?
Perhaps, but there might be a second reason, one you can’t put your finger on. As you shake your head and write a disciplinary letter to Slughorn you don’t see Junior eyeing you across the common room with a faint smile on his lips.
