no because i'm not gonna have people going out of there way to come to my new blog as if that has anything to do with anything here so i'm gonna respond to this rn..

first things first: i was not aggressive in my first approaches to this. blunt? maybe but NOT aggressive. this is the same community that feels like they need a paragraph of compliments before they can be asked a wcif or else the person is rude and entitled.

and one more thing to elderwisp. i don't hate you nor do i think you're ableist just like i said before. the entire reason i brought this conversation up again was because i assumed you just misunderstood what i meant when i first spoke to you about it and it was disappointing that your response was what it was. i have no idea if you've had any second glances at this discussion or understood what the issue is at all but i hope you have because accessibility is more important to me than having someone on tumblr i have a mild dislike for.

if anything i hope this serves to explain the problems to at least one person who cares enough to understand why i care about this as someone with terrible vision and someone with a friend who is visually impaired who uses these accessibility features to engage with communities online. people on here have boiled this down to "petty drama" because this community has become so used to people arguing that actual discussion becomes noise.

my "surface level activism" was literally standing up for myself as the disabled person i was talking about. the only reason you see this as surface level is because you don't rely on these things in your day to day life. also if you believe activism is supposed to be gentle and passive then you don't know what activism is. even besides that ive had this conversation BEFORE and was dismissed. they've been told about this in private too and still never cared enough to change it. this wasn't out of the blue whatsoever, just because this was new to u doesn't mean it never existed and no? my friends did not just leave i still have all the friends i had before because they actually agreed with what i was saying (shocker!) this community values marginalised groups only when they are placid and accepting of the shit thrown at them. you don't care about the actual conversation you care about how its presented and how you feel afterwards. people will show time and time again they don't care about what marginalised people have to say and the second they get something that wasn't hand holding they want to cry foul and play like they're being attacked. and yet when i received transphobia in response where was all these cries for civility and being nice? it wasn't there because none of you actually care about that. you care about coddling people who refuse to accept criticism because they play victim enough to play you around.

i don't care if you found me unpleasant, i really don't, but to act like i've been throwing hate at people for YEARS?? you're actually pulling that out of nowhere. i've held my tongue a lot on here. i've had personal problems with multiple people and i kept that shit private. and you know what? i've had people criticise me before where i've overstepped or just acted without thinking and even when it was just 1 person saying these things to me i actually listened because i give a fuck. i had a post with like 80k notes and deleted it long before someone critiqued it because i actually value what i speak on and if i feel i missed the mark then i fix it. its not a bad thing to accept criticism.

something i've learnt is that gradient text is also very inaccessible, i used this text here and i probably used it again somewhere else and yet when i found out that it was unreadable for screen readers i didnt justify it with artistic freedom and talk about policing from disabled people i just stopped using it even if i thought it looked cool because that's how you're actually supposed to respond when you find out people cannot access your work.

and you basically admit here that big creators get special treatment and a degree of protection on this site from criticism just like that person did when i talked about accessibility. if you think i left because of some people on here then you're not at all paying attention. i'm constantly on hiatus from this blog because the game is a broken mess and now its a sinking ship and i have other things i'm enjoying A LOT more.

if you want to actually look at the dialogue that has been happening abt these unicode fonts for YEARS now here's some links. they literally teach this stuff at universities. i am not going to and never will be made to feel like an aggressor and a terrible person for wanting to feel included in a space that prides itself on "community" and "inclusion". inclusion never mattered to you outside of what you found acceptable and cool for you to adhere to.

instead of admitting you know nothing about this debate because you're either not disabled, know no disabled people or simply don't give a fuck, you want to paint me as some awful bastard for ACTUALLY caring abt this shit even in the smallest most miss able places.

and if my own words don't matter because you've already decided on me being a villain to you here's someone else discussing this except i've censored their name because clearly people on here don't know how to accept things that make them mildly uncomfortable and inconvenienced.

thats the last i'm going to speak on this. again. i do not take back anything i've said regarding this because i don't say shit just to say it. i used these unicode fonts when i was like 15 online before someone else explained the issues with them and stopped using them because that really should be all it takes. if you actually took the time to read all of this, thank you.
