hi again! i sent an ask about your american girl art but have figured it out myself that the girl in glasses holding the green book is Melody. i was unfamiliar with her school outfit and hadn't seen her with glasses before! (she was after my time lol and i have mostly kept up just with doll releases to see who the new characters were without diving any deeper) thanks again for sharing such a lovely piece of art!
No worries! I am also an older fan and only after revisiting AG for these drawings did I deep dive a little more with the newer dolls. I haven't read a lot of the newer girls' stories so I only know the broad strokes and adding glasses to Melody does make it a little confusing.
They made a bunch of live actions films like a decade ago mostly for their Girl of the Year characters but there was a Melody film and I saw that they had the actress playing Melody wear glasses. Genuinely a missed opportunity to sell 60s style glasses for her because I LOVE the idea that she has them but just wears them sometimes. It's the most "head canon" thing I put in these AG drawings (if calling the film version a head canon because she literally seems to wear them in most of the screenshots and promotional photos I've seen) but I stand by that there's not enough glasses and I like her wearing glasses as an homage to film Melody.
