I am so fucking lonely it’s insane. Is this the price of self respect? It seems like “staying true to your standards” only brings rejection and pain. I feel fine when I’m in a room full of strangers. I have very pleasant conversations and I feel well received. Whenever I enter a certain threshold of intimacy, the love I feel and what I’m willing to give is not reciprocated. I read my old Facebook statuses from middle school, and I was having those same issues back then too. I just really want to change the narrative for myself and grow beyond this. I think I only thrive in very specific environments. It feels wrong to ask people to sacrifice their own self interest for my needs. I’m really hoping that staying true to myself leads me in the right direction and brings lasting love in my life.
