Best known for her whimsical Kewpie characters, which appeared in several magazines and spawned a whole host of merchandising from dolls, figurines, books, stationary and a musical. Self-taught, she was a professional artist by age 19, working first for Puck magazine, then Ladies’ Home Journal, Life, Harper’s etc. Her ad work included Jell-o, Kellog’s, Oxydol Rock Island and Edison Victrolas.
