Facebook Loves Video
FACEBOOK LOVES VIDEO Facebook has slammed the breaks on newsfeed content coming from brand pages.
But, after doing a comparison test today between link + photo posts with video posts, I found they are still showing lots of love to video.
Conclusion: Facebook wants to be all video all the time.
Be prepared for every other channel on the planet to follow - including offline.
Can you imagine all video ads on billboards and sides of buses?
I can.

OUR INSTACART MARKETING CAMPAIGN Jan 2015
Back in 2013, I helped Instacart launch their grocery delivery service in Boston. Since then I’ve leveraged my Facebook community Secret Boston and my marketing agency LoveTheCool to help build their user base to the huge numbers they have today. This weekend, they hired me for something brand new - > help increase their sales force. Because Instacart is growing so crazy fast the pain point is no longer getting users - everyone uses them! Now it’s about getting great people to shop and deliver the groceries. As you can see from my image, the campaign I ran on Facebook + Twitter was awesomely successful (all the way from the Caribbean - god bless the Internet!). Mainly because my community is filled with 18-34 year olds who love flexibility, occasionally need fast/extra cash and dig startups. So, on that note, while I’m here I might as well drive you to the link. If you want to be an #Instacart shopper SIGNUP HERE! http://bit.ly/workatinstacart

LOUiS Boston (deadpool)
Louis Boston closing is such a shame because it is the only cool retail store in Boston. Yeah there's Barneys, but it's a chain out of New York, right?
I just read the owner's blog post announcement where she claims they are not closing because business is bad, but I don't believe it. I never shop at LOUiS and it's my favorite store in Boston, so imagine how other, shall we say, less fashion-committed feel?
Never-mind the complete lack of foot traffic.
TECH FAIL If you ask me, there's only one reason LOUiS failed: they completely ignored all digital marketing opportunities.
It was a bold, cool move leaving Newbury Street to set up in that lonely corner of the Waterfront. No other retailer would have had the balls to do it.
But when you create such a barrier between you and your customer, you better make sure you're reaching them in some other way, because being great just isn't good enough anymore.
Digital would have been that perfect way.
PERFECT TIMING And 2010 was a great time to be ballsy. Social Media WOM had just begun taking off with the mainstream shopper, making it a ripe pipe to drive foot traffic to this remote location, through digital buzz.
Indeed a good digital strategy was the only way this move would have worked.
But, as forward thinking as LOUiS is in location and style, they seem the opposite when it comes digital (just look at the blog).
CUTTING EDGE ISN'T JUST FOR FASHION It makes you wonder, being such forward thinkers why LOUiS shunned tech? Like turning us on to PUBLIC SCHOOL and TIM COPPENS, they could have been regularly delighting shoppers with the latest cutting-edge digital retail tactics. Tech can be like magic, after all, so proper use of digital would have enhanced their maverick reputation, not conflicted with it, like I suspect they feared.
Take for example iBeacon technology where a retailer knows who a customer is when they walk in the store and can ping their phone with customized promotions and deals. This should be functioning at LOUiS right now. It's not.
POWER OUT Had LOUiS embedded digital into the fabric of their company (pun totally intended) their business could have grown on the back of technological innovations in retail, instead of dying, as it is now, unplugged, on the waterfront. __
About the title: Deadpool normally refers to tech companies who go belly up, not brick and mortar. But, because I believe LOUiS demise is do to tech failures, the Deadpool attribute feels appropriate.

HANGING W/ BASEBALL PLAYERS
I got to hang out w/ most of the Red Sox the other night at the Mandarin Hotel in Boston, where I was able to dance to Dominican music, eat So. American authentic and most importantly, get autographs. It was cool.
We were guests at David Ortiz Children’s Fund fundraiser, and although I’m totally NOT a sports person, I have some little kids in my life who totally are. These boys love all 4 sports, but they’re particularly nuts about the Sox (shout out DANIEL + LIAM!). So, naturally, I totally used this opportunity to become the ‘coolest aunt ever’.

All Starbucks has to do is take down the huge pic of Oprah’s face, since that seems to be the extent of their ‘brand integration’ efforts.

APPLE WWDC 2014
A few observations:
Craig Federighi seems like such a sweetie
Yosemite, the new OSX is launching in the fall and free
Continuity, while very cool, really only matters if your 'all in' with Apple, meaning you use all Apple all the time.
Introducing iCloud DRIVE (like Dropbox); let's hope it executed well
We'll be able to make and answer calls from our Mac
The new and improved SPOTLIGHT looks awesome
I would be backflipping about #MarkUp (ability to edit images in an email) if I didn't hate MAIL so much
IOS 8 is competing just enough in slickness against Android (great new SIRI + KEYBOARD features) while maintaining Apple's commitment to stability
I wish Apple would do MAIL + MAPS better so I could leave Google and do everything on 1 platform
Developers are today's megastars - Apple spent much less time on them than Facebook at F8, but the new SDK and overall services to developers seemed more robust than other years. In past Developers were at Apple's mercy, but the tables seem to be turning fast.
I caught this shot of Thomas Stevenson's Discotransformer being pushed home by Thomas + gang after night 1 of Bushwick Open Studios.
