As if she didn’t already know why they were rushing. Every whispered conversation ended the same way. Her first heat was approaching, and no one seemed to think she could survive it without an alpha husband waiting beside her. Her father worried himself sick over who he would give her to. Even Robb looked troubled whenever the subject arose.

The Godswood was quiet tonight, but Sansa was grateful for it. Her body buzzed as the evening's conversation continued to echo in her mind. Talk of marrying her off to Joffrey Baratheon, the King's eldest son, was enough to stir up anger that was very unladylike. She felt a bit embarrassed as she paced near the heart tree that usually brought her comfort and peace.

"Joffrey Baratheon," Sansa laughed, though there was no real humor in it. "Father is mad! No way will I marry that... that idiot of a boy."

Her furs dragged through the snow as she paced, gathering white along their hems. It was freezing out, but the anger only seemed to grow the longer she rambled to herself. Her body felt almost feverish. Hotter than she had ever felt before.

Whether it was her approaching heat closing in like a ticking clock or simply the fact she was upset, Sansa couldn't be sure.

"To think I shall spend the rest of my life in King's Landing with Joffrey. That I would be happy as his wife, as the mother of his children." She let out a sharp laugh. "He's cruel. Everyone knows it to be true. He delights in hurting people."
