Alright kids say it with me
My thoughts don’t make me a bad person
My feelings don’t make me a bad person
My thoughts, feelings, and impulses only exist inside my head, and none of it matters unless I act on it
Nobody can see my thoughts or emotions
The only things anyone can see and judge me on are my actions
There’s no such thing as a thought crime

INCENSE MAGIC BASICS 🕯️
Simple wand work using smoke 🌀
Perfect for spellwork, cleansing, and intention setting.
🔁 Clockwise – To Attract
Bring in love, luck, prosperity, energy.
🔄 Counterclockwise – To Banish
Release negativity, bad habits, toxic energy.
⭐ Draw a Pentagram – To Protect
Aim the incense at your target and trace a pentagram in the air.
🌀 Spiral Motion – To Cleanse
Circle gently over the target to lift away stagnant or harmful energy.
Use your incense stick like a wand. Move with purpose. Focus & intention. Let the smoke do the talking. 🖤
Please remember these things in your craft:
Essential oils are FLAMMABLE, keep away from fire, don't put it on candles!
Don't pour salt on plants or certain rocks. It kills plants and fucks up some rocks. DO NOT THROW SALT OUTSIDE.
Side note: sunlight won't ruin your moon water and you don't have to cleanse if you don't feel like it.
And most rocks are not water safe, either because they release various things into said water or they break down and dissolve in it. Sometimes both.
Yup, forgot about that one
Also dont drink or smoke out of those crystal cups or pipes. Not safe!
Also, quit stuffing your jar candles with dried plants. Dried plant matter soaked in liquid wax becomes highly flammable. Most jar candles are fitted with a wick that restricts the heat pool from the candle flame so that the glass doesn't overheat. Having the additional material and a larger flame can cause your candle jar to crack or (in a worst case scenario) explode.
Certain crystal chips can also crack and/or explode when heated, especially anything that has shimmery water inclusions.

Just a Reminder
Don't become so wrapped up in your spiritual journey that you begin criticizing yourself for being human. You are meant to make mistakes, to not understand everything, and feel things that come along with the human experience. You were given this experience to expand spiritually. Your humanity is not a hindrance to your spiritual growth, it contributes to it. Even the most human gritty parts of you contribute to your growth, stop criticizing yourself. You're doing your best and you are growing even if all you're doing is surviving at the moment.
You're doing enough, you are enough, your spiritual growth & expansion is enough. 🪷
- Erika, The Clumsy Witch
HEY if ur seeing this, its a sign to do the witchy thing you've been putting off. you know the one. go fucking do it.
Making Your Own Divination Methods
I'm a firm believer in the idea that divination is an extremely flexible tool, and anybody can develop their own unique methods for practicing it. There are a few common elements to all divination types which make them reliable, and they feel pretty obvious but it's still good to make it explicit. As long as your new method has these, you should be good to go.
A way to receive a message/response. Simple enough. Whether it be pictures, the movements of birds, overheard bits of conversation, or the way different symbols fall on a mat, you need to receive something to interpret. Simply asking a question to the Universe with no established way to get an answer wouldn't really be divination. It can be as abstract or nebulous as you want, but you should know what it is.
An established method of interpretation before you start. Depending on your method of choice this could be really broad, but you should have a general idea of how you'd interpret different messages going in. Deciding how to interpret the message after the fact opens itself up to bias since you can just decide what the answer means. Granted, when you're developing new methods you're inevitably going to run into messages you didn't consider, but even if it's just "good symbols=good outcome, bad symbols=bad outcome," that gives you the ability to accept messages you might not want, and that's important. If it only tells you what you want to hear, that's not reliable.
An element of randomness/something out of your control. In my opinion, this is what makes something divination to begin with. You can't control which card you draw from a blindly-shuffled deck, which plant grows faster when you treat them the same, which number a die lands on. If you have complete control over the message, then it's not going to be effective or reliable because it's too easy to manipulate.
Some random examples to show what I'm talking about:
Once I used a simple method of divination when a food company catered the summer camp I worked at for a day. The food boxes each came either an M&M cookie, regular chocolate chip cookie, or oatmeal raisin cookie. It was random which one you got because you couldn't see inside the boxes. I decided that each of these cookies meant yes/good, neutral, and no/bad respectively, then would ask a question before I selected my box.
I also really enjoy using Rory's Story Cubes for divination. You cast them on a mat and use the abstract symbols as different hints toward the message, especially how they worked together in concert with eachother to develop more complex ideas.
A local bar I enjoy has a lot of graffiti in the bathroom stall. When I go there, I let my eyes fall wherever they lay and interpret the first piece of graffiti I see as my message for whatever question is on my mind. That said, I go to this bar a lot and am getting pretty familiar with what messages are where, so I may retire this method soon.
I also collect TY Beanie Babies and have a chest full of them. Sometimes I'll mix them around, then reach in and draw one, using the poem on its tag as my message for the day.

I think what I love most about mythology is that the “Trickster God/Spirit” is an archetypical character found in almost every body of folklore. It’s like “Oh, here’s our God of the Sun, our God of the Sea, our God of Fertility, and our God of Being A Wretched Little Gremlin Who Causes Problems On Purpose”
There's levels to ancestral connection, and you shouldn't skip any of them.
Take this as your reminder to first of all, spend time with your spirits, without expecting anything in return. Heavy on that last part. You don't make and maintain a genuine connection with someone just by showing up to their doorstep every time you need something from them. Treat them as people because they are. Your people. You should care for them as much as they care for you.
Be it ancestors (specifically direct blood lineage or adoptive family, any deceased human relative) or ancestral spirits (in general, that is, all ancestral allies and hereditary connections not just your ancestors). Just make time to hang out. Walk up to their space, a cup of your favorite drink in hand, give them their preferred drink and just chat. Don't ask anything in return. If you have an altar for them, do that. But it can be just going to visit their graves and giving libations and flowers, and telling them how your life's going, sharing memories together, remembrance, or just to listen. It can also be going to the beach or a river, and same thing, pour a drink and talk to them, and listen back. It can be your plant allies, while you're watering them, or putting eggshells or honey or sugar water or other good nutrients and fertilizers on their soil. It can be visiting your ancestors in dreams, and spending time with them there. There's so many ways to do this.
The second level to this is letting them sit in your body too. Listen. Become familiar with how they make you feel. With the signs of their arrival and presence. With the signs they communicate with and what they mean to you. With how they let you know they have a message, or that they're in for a visit. And let them in. Dance to your grandma's favorite beats. Sing your grandpa's favorite songs. Make a family recipe and share a meal with them, enjoy it for them and with them.
Ancestral reverence isn't just the big rituals and they're not the most important aspect of it, it is the everyday coexistence, in your little but constant everyday ways.
Do as you do but also as they did. You're an extension of them and they're an extension of you. They not only walk with you, you carry them within you.
Honor that.
