Jamil’s reality is tough, to say the least, and he would never be selfish enough to drag someone, especially someone he loves, into a life of servitude, borderline slavery. Jamil is also very busy, he wouldn’t have a lot of time to spend with a significant other. Every second of his day matters. If he barely gets time for himself, let alone a lover! But still, he desired someone to look at him, see him, choose him. He was tired of being just a shadow, tired of being reduced to Kalim’s servant, tired.
So when you came along, the little free time he had was spent reflecting. At night, he could barely sleep! But when you did tell him about your feelings on that warm, starry night, you said you fell in love with his diligence, the way he was always so patient and responsible, the way he was secretly so passionate, like when he’d slip out and speak about his interest in dancing, the way he was always so meticulous and worried, the way he looked while playing basketball, or the concentrated look on his face when he cooked, how his hair was always perfect no matter what, the way his personality shifted around others compared to when you two were alone, when he opened up to you about his worries and his exhaustion. You said you fell in love with his eyes, that held such a dangerous power, but you were never scared, because to you, they reflected his soul, and in them you could see yourself. You said you fell in love with his nose, his mouth, his ears, his arms, his hands, his chest, his legs, with him.
It was never what he could do for you... and that shook him. You saw him. You loved him. And so, slowly but surely, as your relationship developed, he started becoming more comfortable too.

And even though he scolded you for being careless with other people around, he couldn’t deny how much he loved it.

And also about the reasons why he couldn’t. He started to be more vocal with you, telling you what he liked and didn’t like, but also using his words to tell you just how precious you were to him, complimenting you whenever he could. And when he couldn’t speak, he’d text you a long paragraph of things he loved about you, or write you a letter about how you were the light of his world!
He found in you his safe space. He found in you a reason to live, not just survive. You brought him so much joy. His heart had never been so full of positivity, he had never felt so happy in his life, all because of you and your love. You were his treasure, his desert rose, so wonderful. How were you real? Someone so perfect could only be a mirage, or so he thought... but you were his, and he was yours...
And although, yes, he never stopped with acts of service, he found other ways to show his care, ways that made him forget his chores and focus on you and him only.
While Jamil did call Minajael a spoiled prince, the fact that they both want freedom from the situations they're in is very interesting to me. We all know why Jamil wants his freedom, to be free from the servitude to the Asims. Minajael wants freedom from being a prince and the old ways that come with it. In fact, Minajael probably being in RSA is the best thing for him, because he "free" in a sense.
There are two sides to every coin and Minajael is another version of that. I wanna know more about him.

Seriously though, I think Minajeal will be such an interesting character, and his dynamic with Jamil seems like it’s going to be SO, so interesting. It’s already been shown that Jamil sees Mina (I’ll start using Mina instead of his full name for practicality) as a spoiled prince who has the world handed to him on a silver platter. Because he’s in a position of power (a prince) Jamil thinks his desire for freedom is unjustified, because what would a prince know about being caged, right? Jamil and his family have been forced into generational servitude, basically slavery, so I feel like he sees the upper class with a certain bitterness.
Meanwhile, Mina feels trapped by responsibilities he never asked for, towards a country whose rules are old-fashioned. He feels overwhelmed with people constantly meddling in his affairs and wants to get away from all of it and live a normal, maybe carefree life. He’s tired of being a royal to the point that he doesn’t want anything to do with it outside of the castle walls. He knows that Jamil thinks he’s just spoiled, because he’s probably used to people seeing him that way.
What I think will happen is that Jamil will try to stay on Mina’s good side, I feel like he’ll develop a kind of obsession with him because it feels like a step closer to freedom. But Mina doesn’t want any servants; he doesn’t want to be in a position of power because he’s tired of it, he just wants to be treated like everyone else, so he wouldn’t go along with it at first. HOWEVER, I do feel like they can become “friends.” They do face similar struggles, and they both want freedom from the lives they’ve been assigned. It’s complicated. I still need to know more about Mina to have any solid theory, but with what we have, this is what I think.
I am SO, so excited for these new characters and interactions!! This feels like it’s going to be really interesting.
I knew the minute you let Jamil & his partner get take out — these headcanons were gonna HITTT. So happy to see that services weren’t his main thing as that’s his obligation. And it felt more focused on HIS ambitions/goals/dreams outside of his servitude/job.
