Summary. You're Glenn's adoptive sister. You were a newborn and he was two years old when his parents adopted you. He was your big brother from day one. Since the start of the outbreak, you've been separated, but you get reunited in Alexandria.
Authors note: This was a request, I started writing it and then accidentally deleted it so I rewrote it. I hope whoever requested it, finds it!!♡♡
A soft sigh escapes your lips as you sat down on the hard floor. "How much water do we have left?" You asked softly as you glanced at Nina, your fellow survivor.
"Six bottles." She mumbled softly as she stared at the rack of clothes in front of her. He brows eyes were blank and tired. "Not enough to last the six of us to our destination."
"We don't have a destination." You reminded her softly as you leaned your head back against the wall.
"We can't stay here. It's just a matter of time untill the herd catches up." Nina reasoned softly as she slowly shook her head.
Six days ago a herd had came through your camp, and only six of you managed to get away. You, Nina, two men; Neal and Henry, a woman named Jade and a seven year old boy named Rowan. The little boy's mother died at the camp when the herd came, and you've been looking after Rowan since.
You've been taking shelter in a clothing store for three days now, but it was in the exact path of the herd. You couldn't stay much longer.
"Maybe Henry and Neal will find something." You mumbled hopefully. The two men went out to scout the surrounding area, searching for somewhere to go.
A few minutes later, the back door to the store creaked open. "We're back!" Neal called out.
You and Nina got up from the floor and Jade came out from the back office, tying her red hair into a ponytail.
Neal and Henry came through the back hallway, followed by two men. One of the men, was scrawny looking and had short curly hair. The other one looked gruff and even a little dirty, with long dark hair. Both were white.
Immediately you, Jade and Nina pulled out your guns and pointed them at the men. Immediately the scrawny one threw his hands up in defense. The gruff mean looking one, glared at all three of you.
"Whoa! Hey!" Henry yelled as he stepped in front of you, Nina and Jade with his hands up. "They're here to help us!" He explained.
"Help?" You repeated as your eyes narrowed.
"Lower your guns." Neal demanded.
Slowly and hesitantly you, Nina and Jade lowered your guns but neither of you three holstered your weopons.
"This is Aaron and Daryl." Neal told you, pointing at the scrawny one and then at the gruff one. "They're from a community called Alexandria. They have walls and food and houses." Neal explained. "And they want us to go with them."
"Yeah right." Jade scoffed sarcastically as her eyebrows furrowed.
"We have pictures that you can look at." Aaron said as he pulled out a stack of pictures, handing them to Henry who in turn, handed them out to you, Nina and Jade.
The pictures consisted of the high walls and gates surrounding the community, the big houses, a church, a small school, a pantry with food and a garden.
"How do we know this is all real?" Jade asked as her eyes narrowed at the two men.
"It's a chance you gotta take." Daryl replied as he looked between you.
You flipped through more of the pictures, pausing on one of them. You eyes widened a little and your lips parted. Your heart skipped a few beats, you were sure of that.
In the picture there was a group of people standing near a wall. Some were smiling, some just stared. Almost all of them looked intimidating. You recognized Daryl in the picture, standing off to the side and glaring at whoever was taking the picture. An older woman stood beside him, smiling brightly, her hand on his arm seemingly the only thing keeping him in place for the picture.
But it wasn't Daryl that caused your reaction. It was the man in the middle, with a small smile on his face and his arm wrapped around a young brunette woman that leaned into his touch.
"Oh my God." You whispered as you let out a trembling breath. Glenn. He was alive, he was safe and well at this community.
"What is it?" Neal asked, his brows furrowing. Everyone was watching you now, confused by your reaction.
You didn't answer Neal. You flipped the picture around and practically shoved it in Daryl's face as you pointed Glenn out. "Is he with you?" You questioned.
"What's it to you?" Daryl huffed as he grabbed the picture from you, his eyes narrowing.
"Is he with you!?" You repeated, this time louder and more angry.
"Yes! Yes, he is!" Aaron replied, having seen who you pointed out to Daryl. "Why? Who is he to you?" He asked in a gentle tone as his brows furrowed.
"My brother..." You whispered as you let out a trembling breath, tears pricking at your eyes.
"Glenn?" Nina gasped as her eyes widened and she yanked the picture from Daryl. "Which one?" She asked and you pointed Glenn out to her.
"Y'all ain't look related to me." Daryl comment as his eyes narrowed in skepticism.
Your gaze shot towards him. "I'm adopted." You informed him. "My name is Y/n Rhee." You added and recognition flashed in Daryl's eyes. He's heard Glenn mention you before.
You turned around and began gathering your bags. "Rowan!" You called out to the little boy who was resting in the back room of the building.
"Y/n?" Nina questioned as her brows furrowed at you.
Rowan came out of the back room, his eyes widening as he looked at the two strange men that were standing with everyone before his gaze turned to you.
"I'm going to the community." You informed everyone as you slung your bag over your shoulder and picked up Rowan's bag. "The kid is coming with me." You informed the men.
"There's lots of kids at Alexandria. And there's a school." Aaron told you, a small smile on his lips as he nodded his head.
"I'm going too." Henry added as he grabbed his bag from the corner of the room.
"What?" Jade asked as her eyebrows furrowed. "Guys, this could all be a lie!" She reasoned with everyone.
"And it could all be true! It could be a home!" Neal reasoned.
"You don't have to come with us, Jade." Henry told her as he shook his head. "But we're going." He stated firmly.
Jade and Nina did relent and decided to come with you in the end. Even if this community wasn't real, you couldn't stay where you were. The journey to Alexandria was long and you traveled the entire day on foot.
Your nerved build with every step you took forward. You wanted to cry from happiness at the thought of seeing your brother again.
As you walked, holding little Rowan's hand, you looked at Aaron. "The girl he's holding in the picture...who is she?" You asked curiously.
"Maggie. His wife." Aaron replied with a small smile. "Your brother's a good guy." He commented with a nod of his head.
You smiled at the thought of Glenn having a wife. You had a sister-in-law. You had a sister. "Is she nice?" You asked as you stepped closer to Aaron, pulling Rowan protectively with you.
"Maggie?" Aaron questioned and you nodded in response. "Yeah, she's really nice. She and Glenn really love each other."
"We're here." Daryl called out from the front of the group.
Everyone's attention turned to Daryl before shifting to what was up ahead, just at the end of the road.
It was just like the pictures. Big and tall walls, watch towers and a gate. You could hear people inside, kids laughing and running around.
Rowan's eyes lit up when he heard the other children and looked up at you as he tugged on your hand. "Do you hear?" He asked softly.
You looked down at him, smiling softly. "I do buddy. I hear." You assured as you reached down and ran a hand through his hair.
You continued down the road with the group and as you got closer, the gates opened. You were in awe as you stepped inside the gated community. It was big. There were streets, and a playground and big houses that lined the streets. People were bustling around, talking with one another, completing their duties to help the community.
Your steps faltered a little at the gates, your stomach knotting tightly. Daryl noticed as he turned to look at you. "You comin?" He asked as he quirked an eyebrow.
"Yeah..." You mumbled softly but your legs were unwilling to move, ushering Rowan to go with Jade and Nina.
Daryl's brows furrowed as he turned fully and approached you. "What is it?" He asked as he stared at you with slight confusion mixed with annoyance.
"I haven't seen him in so long." You mumbled softly as you lowered your gaze. "I'm a little nervous." You admitted as you sighed softly. You distracted yourself by looking around the community, rubbing your hands against your pants.
"Suppose that's normal if ya'll ain't seen each other in a while." Daryl commented with a shrug of his shoulders. "He'll be happy to see ya." he assured.
You nodded slowly, placing a hand against your unsettled stomach. While everyone else from your group went with Aaron, you continued following Daryl.
He lead you to one of the large houses, taking you inside. In the living room, a few people chatted together as they sat on various furniture.
An older white man with slight curly brown hair and a clean shaven face, sat on the couch with a baby in his arms. A young boy sat beside the man, playfully placing a sheriff's hat on the baby's head to annoy her.
A black woman with long dreadlocks sat on the couch opposite them, watching the young boy and the baby with an amused smile on her face.
In the open dining room sat a large and buff white man with bright orange hair, beside him sat a beautiful Latina woman, having a hushed conversation between them.
At the other end of the table sat Glenn, talking with the brunette woman from the picture. Maggie. He looked a bit older, weary from the weight of this new world resting on his shoulder. But he looked happy as he fondly stared at Maggie while she talked.
"You're home." The man with the baby commented when he was the first to notice Daryl standing in the entryway.
"Yeah." Daryl grunted before his gaze diverted to Glenn. "Brought ya somethin'." he stated and Glenn's eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
Daryl stepped to the side and turned his gaze to you, giving you an encouraging nod. You stepped forward and into everyone's sight, your eyes filled with tears as you looked at your brother.
Glenn's lips parted as his eyes widened. He blinked slowly as he stood up, his eyes growing glossy and red. "Y/n?" he whispered as he slowly and hesitantly approached you, scared this wasn't real, scared you weren't actually there.
"Glenn." You breathed out with a soft sob before rushing to your big brother, wrapping your arms around his shoulders.
Glenn caught you, his arms wrapping around you and pulling you tightly against his chest as he sniffed. His hand rested against the back of your head gingerly, like he was afraid you might disappear and he may never see you again.
Everyone but Maggie seemed to be confused. She had heard him call your name, she knew who you were. She had a smile on her face, a hand over her heart and her eyes teary as she watched Glenn reconnect with his little sister.
The man with the baby stood up, his gaze turning to Daryl as his eyebrows furrowed in confusion. Daryl looked at him, "Found his sister." Daryl explained to everyone.
"I thought..." Glenn began to whisper as he pulled you back at arm's length. He couldn't finish his sentence, his bottom lip trembling as he tried to fight back his tears.
"I know." You whispered as you slowly nodded your head. "I thought I lost you too." You told him. It was all too much for you too keep in and a little sob escaped you. In response, Glenn pulled you back into his arms. "I thought I would never see you again."
"It's alright now. Everything's going to be alright now." he assured as he ran a gentle hand through your hair while resting his head against yours. "We're together, and nothing will ever happen again."
When you pulled back from Glenn, your gaze diverted to the woman standing behind him. You smiled at her. "You must be Maggie." You said softly.
She nodded her head as she stepped closer. "It's good to meet you." She said as she returned your smile.
"So you've met Daryl." Glenn mumbled, eyeing Daryl before turning to look at you and you nodded in response as you pursed your lips. "Well this is Rick, Carl and Judith." he introduced, pointing towards the man with the baby and the little boy. "That's Michonne, Abraham and Rosita." he added as he pointed towards the black woman, the buff ginger and the Latina woman.
"Welcome to Alexandria." Rick spoke as he gave you a nod. "The sister of Glenn is very welcome here." he assured you.
"Thank you." You said sincerely as you nodded your head at him, smiling softly.
Glenn took you outside and you found a nice spot under a tree. You sat side by side on a bench, sharing stories from the lives you had been living for the past few months.
"So you actually walked with the dead?" You asked, eyes slightly wide as you looked at him. "With guts on you?"
"Yeah." He chuckled awkwardly as he scratched the back of his head. "That was the most terrifying moment of my entire life." He insisted.
"Even more terrifying then when mom found a girl in your room that one time?" You asked him as you quirked an eyebrow. You vividly remembered the morning when your mother caught high school Glenn with a girl in his bedroom.
He thought about it for a moment before grimacing. "Okay, second most terrifying." He corrected himself.
You laughed softly in response before you two fell in a comforting silince for a moment. You turned your head, looking at him with a gentle smile. "Tell me about Maggie."
Glenn couldn't help but smile at the mention of Maggie. "She's really great." He told you. "We met on a farm. She's lost so many people she loves, but every day she keeps fighting. She's strong."
"I've never seen you this in love." You said softly as you bumped his shoulder with your own.
"She's an amazing person." He told you softly. "And she really helped me talk about you. It was so hard at first...felt like I was going crazy. It was the not knowing if you were okay, that was killing me."
"It was killing me too." You whispered as you lowered your gaze. "I went to Atlanta to look for you, but I didn't even know where to begin looking." You added as you slowly shook your head.
"Y/n?" Jade called out, hesitant on approaching and intruding on the moment. She had Rowan with her, holding his little hand. You offered her a smile and slowly she came closer. "He was asking for you."
Glenn offered Jade a friendly smile before bending down to Rowan's height. "Hi. I'm Glenn." He introduced himself.
"Glenn, this is my friend Jade." You introduced Glenn to the redhead before looking down at the Rowan, brushing a hand through his hair. "And this is Rowan. I'm taking care of him."
"Hi." Rowan shyly greeted as he looked at Glenn with wide curious eyes. The little boy looked up at you. "Are we living here now?"
You gave him an assuring smile. "We are." You confirmed with a nod of your head.
After introducing Glenn to your people and settling into one of the empty houses, Glenn and Maggie invited you to have dinner with them.
"I thought he was crazy." Maggie chuckled softly, sipping on her wine as she slowly shook her head. "I mean, crazy people go down in a well with a walker trapped inside." She insisted, retelling the story of the time Glenn allowed his group to lower him into a well with a walker inside.
You turned your wide eyed gaze to Glenn. "I don't know if you were incredibly brave or just a big dumbass." You admitted as you shook your head.
"I'd like to think I was a little of both." He huffed defensively, his ears turning red as you and Maggie laughed at him.
"So what's your story?" Maggie asked curiously as she turned her gaze to you. "Any walkers in wells?"
"No. Not any walker guts either." You replied with a shake of your head and Maggie chuckled softly while Glenn playfully rolled his eyes.
When he looked at you, the amusement slipped from his face for a moment. "How was it for you out there?" He asked softly.
"Well...after I couldn't find you in Atlanta I just walked. For days. Then Henry found me and we traveled together for a while. We found people in a school but it turned bad really quickly." You began explaining with both Glenn and Maggie listening. "A small group of us left the school and we found others at a camp. It was good for a very long time. And then the herd came. Then Daryl and Aaron found us."
"You've lost a lot people." Glenn whispered as he looked at you with sad eyes. He wished you guys had found each other in Atlanta, that you could have been together all this time. He didn't know what happened to you out there all this time, but he's seen what people do now and he was scared to ask.
"Yeah." You confirmed softly as you nodded your head. "I think that's just part of this new world." you added as you lowered your gaze. "Loss is part of us now."
"I'd drink to that." Maggie commented softly as she half hearted lifted her wine glass before taking a sip. You and Glenn followed.
"This place, these walls...it really is something." You commented softly as you sat back in your seat.
"The walls came up when everything fell, most of these people have been here since then." Glenn explained as he crossed his arms over his chest. "They don't know what loss is. What life outside is." he commented as he scratched the side of his face.
"I don't know if that's lucky or unfortunate." You commented as you shook your head.
"They've been safe, had normal lives. But they can't fight, they can't protect themselves." Glenn explained as he shook his head. "In here, it's easy to forget what's out there." he added with a soft sigh.
"I'm gonna go see if there's more wine." Maggie said as she stood up, reaching out to rub Glenn's shoulder before walking away.
Glenn's gaze turned to you, giving you a sad smile. "I'm really glad you're here." he told you sincerely as he nodded his head.
"I wish I got here sooner...maybe talk your stupid ass out of going down a well or walking down walker invested streets with nothing but your good intentions and walker guts." You commented dryly as you raised your eyebrows.
"You know I actually got kidnaped too." He added as he slowly nodded his head, regretting the words as they left his mouth. "Twice." he added.
"Twice..." You repeated slowly as you nodded your head. "Being a dumbass just comes naturally, huh?" You asked him.
"I see it as...heroic and very brave." He corrected as he clasped his hands together and rested his chin on them. You hummed sarcastically in agreement as you nodded your head. "Tell me about the little boy." he urged softly.
"Rowan." You stated as you smiled softly. "He's a very sweet kid." You told him before your gaze dropped. "He's been a bit shy and withdrawn since his mother died. He prefers being alone." you explained.
"Losing his mom so young, I can't imagine what he's going through." Glenn commented softly as he shook his head.
You looked at Glenn silently for a moment before shifting uncomfortably. "Did...did you get in contact with mom and dad, when everything fell?" You asked hesitantly.
Glenn looked at you, debating whether to lie or tell you the truth. His entire life he shielded you from a lot, but he knew this was different. He sighed as he sat up straight. "I tried. But no calls went through."
Your gaze lowered. "Do you think they're still alive?" You asked him softly.
"They could be...the same way we've managed to still be." he suggested weakly as he lowered his gaze. You could see it in his face, he didn't believe what he was saying.
"Yeah." You agreed softly, not believing his words either. Your gaze diverted, your eyes burning with unshed tears.
Glenn looked at you, smiling sadly. "We have each other again now." He assured softly.
You nodded your head as you smiled back at him. "Okay, no more sad moments." You insisted, sniffing as you wiped at your eyes.
"I found the wine." Maggie announced as she walked back into the room with a new bottle of wine. She didn't comment on your or Glenn's teary eyes, refilling the wine glasses silently.
You smiled softly as you took a sip of your wine, watching Maggie and Glenn share a warm smile between themselves. You let out a soft breath of relief. You had your brother back, you had a new community, a home with walls and safety.
Summary: Spencer is a family man. There is no greater love than the love he has you and your little girl, Charlotte. Even day to day ordinary tasks like breakfast and going to the shops, are a blessing to him.
It was early in the morning, the sun barely peeking over the ranch. You were half asleep with your head resting against your husband's bare chest.
Spencer had one arm behind his head, the other wrapped around your shoulder as he played with a strand of your hair. The morning was quiet and peaceful. That was something rare and valuable of the ranch.
A door down the hall creaked open before thudding against the wall. A small smile tugged at your lips as you tilted your head back to share a look of amusement with your husband.
"Here comes trouble." Spencer grunted softly, a crooked smile slowly making it's way onto his face. Indeed it was trouble, in the form of four year old Charlotte Eloise Spencer.
There was a soft patter of little feet running down the hallway before a bump against the door. You could hear the little girl lean heavily against the door as she reached for the handle. It took her a minute but she managed to get the door open.
Charlotte peeked into the bedroom, her eyes lighting up when she saw you and her father were awake and looking back at her. A smile tugged at the toddler's lips as she stumbled into the bedroom.
"Mornin' sweetheart." Spencer greeted softly as he sat up and leaned over the edge of the bed, helping Charlotte onto the bed.
Charlotte climbed onto Spencer's lap and laid against her father's chest, snuggling into his warmth while you snuggled into his side, your head resting on his shoulder this time, knowing you had to play nice about sharing Spencer with the toddler. Spencer closed his eyes for a moment as one arm wrapped around you and the other around Charlotte, holding you both close.
"Did my sweetheart sleep good?" Spencer asked softly as he brushed a gentle kisses to Charlotte's forehead.
Charlotte only offered her father a nod of her head before letting out a little yawn as she scratched the side of her head. You knew the signs. She was going to snuggle closer to Spencer and go back to sleep, only to wake up a newly transformed demon of some kind.
You weren't in the mood for a cranky toddler today.
You sat up, stretching a little before climbing off the bed, grabbing your silky white robe and pulling it on. Spencer looked you, frowning a little. "Where are you going?" he asked, trying to reach for you and pull you back into bed.
"To make breakfast." You informed him as you approached his side of the bed, leaned down and pressed a soft kiss against his cheek.
"One more." he urged as he pointed at his cheek and when you leaned down to press another kiss to his cheek, he turned his head and caught your lips in a sneaky kiss. You smiled softly at the delightful little surprise, kissing him back.
"Daddy no!" Charlotte whined in distaste as she pushed at Spencer's face. Charlotte was in a phase where she was very possessive over you and didn't like when her father showed you affection.
Spencer groaned as he pulled away from you and turned to look down at the little terror on his chest. "Can't I kiss mommy?" he asked as he ran a hand through her messy hair.
"No!" Charlotte denied as she frantically shook her head at him. "My mommy." She declared firmly.
You picked up the toddler, resting her on your hip as you turned to your husband with a teasing grin. "Her mommy." You declared, sticking your tongue out at him before making your way to the kitchen.
It wasn't often the little girl was more clingy to you then to Spencer. She was born to be a daddy's girl but sometimes all she wanted was all of her mommy's love and attention, and you were more than happy to oblige.
By the time Spencer came into the kitchen, Charlotte was sitting in her highchair, watching you with curious eyes as you made eggs over the stove. He was dressed in a white button up and a pair of beige pants.
"Daddy." Charlotte spoke when she saw him again, her arms held up in the air.
"Sweetheart." Spencer replied as he picked her up, settling her on his hip as he planted a soft kiss to her cheek.
In response, Charlotte wrapped her little arms around Spencer's neck, snuggling as close as she possibly could. Spencer hummed softly, enjoying the early morning cuddle with his little girl.
After breakfast, you, Spencer and Charlotte went into town to do some shopping. As you walked down the side walk, Spencer held your hand while carrying Charlotte on his hip. The little girl already had a bag of candy that she cradled in her hands, that her daddy had bought after one pout from her.
"Did you see those." You spoke up, pointing towards the salesman that stood outside a store, selling household machines.
"What are they?" Spencer asked, eyeing the machines with furrowed eyebrows.
"Apparently, they wash the clothes for you." You explained as you let go of Spencer's hand and hooked your arm in with his, inching closer to him.
"Oh." he hummed softly, nodding his head as he eyed the machine from across the street. "Maybe we can save up and buy one for the house?" he suggested as he glanced down at you.
A small smile tugged at your lips as you looked up at him. "Yeah?" You asked softly as you raised your eyebrows.
"Yeah, if it will help take the heavy load off you." he replied as he nodded his head while staring down at you. If Spencer had enough money, he would pay a whole team of people to take the entire load of household duties off your hands. He would give you every luxury he could. If only he could.
"Daddy, look." Charlotte squealed suddenly as she pointed into the shop window you were passing.
Inside the shop window, hanged a beautiful pink dress with little bows on the puffy shoulders, a puffy princess style skirt and a white lace lining on the bottom.
"Please daddy. Please. Can I have it?" Charlotte asked with big eyes and pouty lips as she looked up at her father. "Please daddy." She begged him, pressing her little face right against his. "Please."
Spencer looked down at her and you immediately saw the way his eyes softened up. You rolled your eyes, an amused smile tugging at your lips. One look and Spencer was mush in his daughter's hands.
"Alright." He agreed with a soft sigh as he glanced at the shop window where the dress hanged. "Alright, we'll buy it." he assured her softly.
"Thank you daddy!" She squealed as she wrapped her little arms around his neck and nearly choked him with how hard she hugged him.
"Okay sweetheart, okay." Spencer grunted as he eased her arms from around his neck. He allowed you took hook your arm into his once more as you made your way into the shop together.
Spencer bought Charlotte the dress and rushed her out of the shop before her little eyes could spot anything else she may want.
You continued on with shopping, buying a few groceries on your way before returning home. As you and Spencer unpacked everything in the kitchen, Charlotte ate her candy at the table.
Spencer turned to his daughter, looking at her as she dug into her bag of candy. She pulled a glass candy out and Spencer shook his head. "No. Sweetheart, give me that one." He said a little sternly as he held his hand out.
"Why daddy?" Charlotte asked in a soft voice, her little eyebrows furrowing at him.
"You can't eat that one sweetheart. That one's not for little girls." He explained, making a motion with his hand that insisted she hand the glass candy over.
With a pouty sigh Charlotte handed the candy to Spencer and he in turn, handed the hard piece of glass candy to you. You chuckled softly, popping the candy into your mouth.
After bath time, Charlotte begged to wear her new dress for a bit before bed. You got her dressed and then made her hair pretty after she asked. You were no better than Spencer when it came to spoiling Charlotte.
Spencer laid on his back on the bed, one arm behind his bed. He was still dressed in his day clothes, but a few buttons were undone and they were distracting you.
He had a lazy little smile of his face as he watched you and Charlotte. He was a content man. There was nothing more perfect than his little family. Yet, something felt missing to him.
"Daddy, look." Charlotte squealed with excitement as you finished her hair and placed her on the edge of the bed.
"You look just like a princesses." Spencer told the little girl as he pulled himself up into a sitting position against the pillows, pulling Charlotte onto his lap.
"Do I?" She asked with a little hopeful voice as she looked up at him with big eyes.
"You do. You look just like a real princesses." he assured her as he nodded his head, kissing the side of her head. "You look beautiful." he added softly.
"Can I sleep in my dress?" She asked with a big silly grin as she looked up at her father.
"You can play in it for a bit, but then you have to get in your pajamas." He told her, using his firm dad voice so that she wouldn't try and argue with him. "You can wear it tomorrow." he assured her.
She sighed softly but nodded in agreement, knowing better than to argue when her father used that voice with her.
Charlotte played around the room for about half an hour before you got her into her pajamas. The tired little girl went back to your room, climbed onto the bed and crawled into her father's arms.
Like always, she passed out within minutes when she was safely tucked away in her father's arms, with his hand softly brushing through her hair as he spoke softly to her.
Spencer carried Charlotte to her bed, tucking her in while you got ready for bed. When Spencer returned to the bedroom, he slowly approached from behind.
"You know, I've been thinking." Spencer spoke up gruffly, his eyes finding yours in the mirror as you brushed your hair.
"About what?" You asked curiously as you put the brush down.
He placed his hands on your hips, softly kissing your shoulder before meeting your eyes through the mirror once more. "We should have another baby." he whispered.
"What's brought that kind of thinking?" You asked curiously as you raised your eyebrows, a soft smile curving against your lips.
"You know, I thought hunting was one hell of a job. But being a father...that's a hell of a job." he mumbled softly and you silently furrowed your eyebrows, wondering where his rambling was heading. "It's a damn fulfilling job. And every day I get to spend with you and our little girl, is another day of me being a damn happy man."
You turned around in his arms, softly cupping his cheeks. "Spencer, stop talking." You shushed him as you shook your head and his brows furrowed for a moment. "You've already sold me." you assured softly.
"We can have another baby?" He asked softly, eyes widening a little as he stared down at you, his lips ever so slightly parting.
You laughed softly, slowly nodding your head. "Yes. Yes, we can try for another baby." You agreed softly.
Spencer's arms wrapped around your waist and you yelped in surprise as he picked you up, your legs instinctively wrapping around his waist as you laughed softly.
"Very eager." You laughed as you loosely wrapped your arms around his shoulders, your fingers playing with the short hair at the back of his head.
"You have no idea darling." He replied with a shake of his head as he walked towards the bed, gently laying you down and following you, his body covering yours.
The next afternoon you were sitting outside on the porch, watching as Charlotte walked around in her new dress, carrying around a teapot and filling the teacups of her stuffed animals that lined the porch.
A truck came down the dirt road leading to the house, and your brows furrowed. You didn't get many visitors out here. Not ones that drove cars.
You stood up, approaching the porch steps before looking at the door over your shoulder. "Spencer!" You called out to your husband and a moment later he appeared by the door. "Someone's coming." You told him.
Spencer looked at the truck before stepping out onto the porch. "It's alright darling." he told you softly as he stepped closer with a charming smile. "It's for you actually."
Your eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "For me?" You questioned him softly as you looked up at him. You turned your gaze to the truck as it pulled up in front of the house. On the bed of the truck, stood one of the machines you had seen in town yesterday. Your eyes widened as you looked back at your husband. "You bought it?"
"I did." he confirmed softly as he nodded his head, placing a hand on your back, rubbing softly across the fabric of your dress. "I called early this morning." he informed you.
"Do we have the money?" You asked softly, feeling concern firstly as your brows furrowed.
"We do." he assured you as he nodded his head, offering your a small smile. "You deserve to get some help. I know I'm not around enough to do enough to help you. I hope this helps." he told you softly.
"Thank you." You said sincerely as you cupped his cheeks between your hands, planting a kiss to his lips. "Thank you." You repeated, kissing him again.
Spencer couldn't help but laugh softly against your lips, stealing another kiss from you before Charlotte could notice. He pulled back and helped get the washing machine settled into the house.
The machine took a big loud off your shoulder, especially when you gave birth to a little girl exactly ten months later. The pregnancy did not come as a surprise, you and Spencer knew what you were doing. You were still shocked and overly excited when it did happen.
Adelaide Millie Spencer was a tiny little thing that didn't cry often. She was content just watching the world around her. Content scowling at her sister from a distance.
Oh but Charlotte adored her baby sister. You and Spencer had to keep eyes on Charlotte at all times when she was anywhere near Adelaide. All the little girl wanted was to hold and play with her sister.
It was late and you were sitting in the living room with Spencer. Adelaide laid in the crook of his arms, her tiny brows furrowed into a scowl as she watched everything that happened around her.
"Not much of a smiler." Spencer commented dryly as he stared down at the baby before turning his gaze to you in amusement.
You laughed softly, shifting closer to Spencer's side. "She takes after her father." You informed him and you received a faux sharp side eyed look from your husband, making you laugh softly. "It's alright, I find my brooding husband extremely handsome." You assured as you pressed your cheek against his shoulder.
Spencer playfully rolled his eyes, an amused smile tugging onto his lips as he lightly nudged you with his shoulder.
Charlotte walked over to you, climbing her way onto your lap. You helped the little girl, settling her comfortably on your lap. "Mommy?" She mumbled as she looked up at you.
"Yeah?" You whispered as you looked down at her, brushing her hair off her forehead.
"When will Adie play with me?" She asked curiously as her brows furrowed. Her gaze turned to her little sister and she reached out, patting Adelaide's leg like she was a household pet.
"Oh, when she's a little bit bigger." You assured as you kissed her little chubby cheek, smiling as she sighed deeply. "She's too little right now."
"Daddy will play with you for a bit." Spencer suggested as he glanced down at Charlotte and her little eyes lit up like the stars in the night sky.
You and Spencer traded, he took Charlotte and you took Adelaide. You sat back on the couch, cradling Adelaide against your chest, watching as Spencer played with Charlotte on the floor.
It was completely peaceful and you and Spencer were both right where you wanted to be. Surrounded by the soft cries and giggles of your daughters.
Summary: On his search for Rick, Daryl finds himself in an Abbey in California, where he meets a quiet and sweet girl living under the false pretense of being a nun with an abusive priest.
Trigger warning: Mentions of physical abuse. Reader is mentioned to be younger than Daryl.
A/N: Also, I used a popular conversation that originally happens between Daryl and Carol, but I just love it so much I had to use it!!
It's been exactly thirteen years into the apocalypse. Eight years in, you found yourself at the Abbey of New Clairvaux in California Tehama County, living under the pretense of being a nun.
In six years, the leader of this little religious and holy safe place, Father Wyatt, has been your personal hell. A year in when you tried to leave, it was made clear that leaving was not an option you had. That notion was firmly beaten into you. Many other things, like dressing in proper attire like the rest of the nuns, speaking properly and not swearing, respecting father Wyatt, it was all beaten into you over the years.
One morning you were in the garden, gathering fresh fruits and vegetables with one of the other younger nuns, Tatiana. Your gaze caught father Emil and two obedientiaries escorting a man across the yard.
The man had dark brown hair that fell to his shoulders in greasy streaks, with a bit of a greying beard. He looked rugged and rough, like he had been out there in the world since the very start, not protected behind high walls.
The man's gaze diverted and his hard eyes found yours. He eyed you silently for a moment before looking away again, continuing to follow father Emil.
"Whose that?" You asked curiously, eyebrows furrowing as your eyes followed the stranger. He stuck out like a sore thumb in a place like this. He looked rough and unkept and his black coat was different from the white robes the men whore here. He had a handsome danger to him.
"I heard they found him washed up by the river." Tatiana explained as she send a glance in the man's direction. "His name is Daryl Dixon. And apparently he took out almost a dozen dead, on his own."
You looked at Tatiana in surprise, your eyes widening in shock. "Half a dozen?" You questioned and Tatiana nodded her head in confirmation. Your gaze returned to the man, watching him as he was escorted into father Wyatt's office.
After finishing all your chores that afternoon, you found a quiet spot at the back of the building, hidden in a corner. You sat on a low wall, smoking a cigarette as you stared blankly at the wall ahead of you.
"Didn't know nuns smoked." A gruff voice commented behind you.
Your heart nearly leaped right out of your throat as your head whirled back, looking at the man with wide eyes. You let out a trembling breath, shoulders relaxing a bit when you saw the newcomer.
He eyed you silently for a moment, eyebrows furrowing a little when he noticed how tense you sat and stared at him. He diverted his gaze to the lowered cigarette between your fingers. "Have any more?" he questioned.
You slowly and hesitantly nodded your head, struggling to find your movements. "Y-yeah." You confirmed softly, picking up your pack and holding it out towards Daryl.
"You always this jumpy?" he asked curiously, quirking an eyebrow at you as he pulled out one of the cigarettes.
"You always sneak up on people?" You asked in turn, diverting your gaze as you took another drag of your cigarette.
"No." He replied with a shake of his head. "Can I sit?" he asked as he nodded to the spot beside you.
"Yeah." You confirmed softly with a nod of your head. He sat down and as he placed the cigarette between his lips, you handed him your matches.
He grunted in response, taking the matches from you and lighting his cigarette. The two of you sat silently for a moment as you smoked. You glanced at Daryl from the corner of your eyes. He was ruggedly handsome, but extremely intimidating.
"I'm Daryl, by the way." he introduced himself.
"Yeah, you're actually the hot gossip today." You informed him as you looked down at your lap.
He raised his eyebrows in response as he stared at you for a moment. Then he cleared his throat, diverted his gaze and took another drag of his cigarette. When he blew out a puff of smoke, his gaze flicked briefly towards you. "You got a name?"
"Y/n." You replied softly as you stubbed out your cigarette.
"I gotta call you sister?" he asked as he looked at the wall in front while taking another drag of his cigarette.
"I'm not a nun." You replied softly with a shake of your head as you brushed your hands off against the soft fabric of your black tunic.
Daryl looked at you, his eyebrows furrowing. "What?" he asked, unsure he had heard you right the first time.
"I'm not a nun." You repeated a little louder as you turned your head to look at him. "I'm only pretending." You added as you pursed your lips while slowly nodding your head.
"Why?" he asked, his eyebrows remaining furrowed as the confusion filled his face.
You were about to reply when heavy footsteps approached and quickly rounded the corner. You tensed up when father Emil rounded the corner, his eyes finding you immediately.
You let out a shaky breath, swallowing hard as a lump formed in the back of your throat. Your hands clenched on your lap, nails digging into the skin of your palms.
"Sister Y/n." Father Emil spoke in a cold voice. The older man's green eyes narrowed, his wrinkly forehead creasing as he stared you down. Father Emil was in his fifties but he carried his years badly. He wasn't as cruel as father Wyatt, but he was stern. "This is rather improper, is it not?"
"I'm sorry father." You apologized softly, head bowed and gaze lowered as you stood up. You began walking away, not looking at father Emil or Daryl.
"Hey, you forgot-" Daryl began to speak as he reached for the cigarettes and matches that you left on the wall.
You spun around, eyes widened. "I did not forget anything." You denied as you tightly shook your head at Daryl. His eyebrows furrowed in response. You turned back around and rushed off.
You helped prepare dinner that night. You sat at a long table, buttering the bread. The chair beside you scraped against the floor as it was pulled back. You looked up, tensing when you saw Daryl sit down beside you.
"Need help?" he asked gruffly as he glanced around at the table, eyes lingering on the bowl of potatoes before turning to you.
You shifted uncomfortably, glancing around as a few of the sister's gave you funny glances. "No." You replied softly as you looked back at Daryl, shaking your head.
Daryl eyed you for a second before looking over at the two nuns who talked in hushed voices as they stared at you and Daryl. He grunted softly in response before grabbing the bowl and pulling it closer.
You watched him as he picked up the peeler and began peeling the potatoes, unaware of the trouble he could get you in.
"So if you're not a nun, what are you?" He asked curiously as he focused on peeling the potatoes.
"I used to be a collage student." You mumbled softly. "And up until eight years ago, I was just an ordinary survivor." you explained as you glanced at him from the corner of your eye.
"So how did you end up here?" he asked as he met your gaze, raising his eyebrows.
"Father Wyatt saved me from a herd of dead." You explained, you hand pausing for a moment as you held the butter knife stiffly above the piece of bread. "I've been here since."
"They gonna make me dress in those ridiculous robes too then?" he asked gruffly. He eyed the way your hold on the knife tightened at the mention of father Wyatt but he didn't comment on it.
You chuckled softly. "If you stick around long enough." You told him as you shrugged your shoulders. He eyed you from the corner of his eyes, head slightly tilted back. "Call you father too." you added and his gaze returned to the potatoes in his hand as he let out the softest huff of amusement.
"So what was the deal earlier?" he asked as he continued peeling the potatoes, his eyes not finding you this time. "With that priest."
"Father Emil doesn't appreciate the nuns and the priests conversing, let alone a nun and a strange man." You explained as you finished the last of the bread. You grabbed another peeler and helped Daryl with the potatoes.
"That why everyone's starin'?" he asked, sending a glance at the two nuns across the table that silently stared at you and him.
"It's regarded as improper." You explained as you glanced at him, quirking an eyebrow. "And I'm already a problem for them." You added softly as your gaze lowered again.
He raised his eyebrows in surprise. "What problem could one girl cause?" he asked curiously.
"Well, smoking with a man, for one." You told him, your voice slightly hushed just in case someone was listening to the conversation. He grunted gruffly in response, slowly nodding his head. "There's other things." You mumbled as your diverted your gaze.
It was clear the way you said it, the way you looked away; you did not want to talk about it. Daryl didn't push you any further for answers, although he found himself very curious about you.
You found yourself curious about Daryl as well. When morning came, you walked through the courtyard with tray in hand. A bowl of porridge, an apple, a boiled egg and some bread with a glass of water laid on the tray.
You approached Daryl where he sat on a bench, placing the tray on the table. "I brought you breakfast."
He looked down at the tray before looking up at you, curiously raising his eyebrows. "Why?" He questioned.
You stared at him silently for a moment before slowly shaking your head. "I don't know." You replied softly.
He stared at you with curiosity a moment longer before pulling the tray closer. "You eaten yet?" He asked.
You shook your head. "I'm not hungry." You told him as you clasped your hands together in front of you.
"Sit." He ordered gruffly as he nodded to the seat in front of him.
You slowly lowered yourself into the seat, watching as Daryl tore the bread into two, handing you one of the pieces. As you slowly at the bread, you watched him pull a knife from his boot and cut the apple in half.
"If they see you have that, they'll take it." You warned him softly as he tucked the knife back into his boot.
"Yeah, I'd like to see them try." He replied as he handed you half of the apple.
"Why do I get the smaller piece?" You asked teasingly as you raised your eyebrows at him.
Daryl glanced at you as he took a big bite of his piece of apple. "Cuz you're smaller." he replied, voice slightly muffled as he spoke with a full mouth.
"You usually speak with a full mouth?" You asked him as you took a bite of your bread, raising your eyebrows at him.
"You usually disrespect your elders?" He asked in turn as he raised his eyebrows as well.
You huffed in amusement, a small smile tugging at your lips. "You're not that older than me." You commented as your head tilted to the side. "Wait, how old are you?" you asked as your brows furrowed.
He looked at you with the corner of his eyes, his mouth ever so slightly pulled up. "Right." he scoffed in amusement as he diverted his gaze.
You laughed softly in response, slowly shaking your head at Daryl. Your gaze diverted as you continued eating your bread. Across the courtyard stood Father Wyatt, watching you.
Father Wyatt was in his forties. He was tall but slim build, his hair pitch black and his face shaven clean. His blue eyes were cold and dead as he stared you down.
"Sister Y/n." One of the older nuns, sister Eugenia, spoke as she approached you. You tensed up as you looked at the older woman and Daryl silently eyed you from the corner of his eyes. "Father Wyatt will like a word."
Your heart dropped to the deepest pit of your stomach as you stared at the older woman. "Okay..." You whispered with a stiff nod of your head.
You stood up on trembling legs, holding onto the table for support. Your eyes burned and your throat ached. You hesitated for a moment, moving a hand to your aching stomach before following sister Eugenia.
Daryl's eyes narrowed as he watched you stiffly follow sister Eugenia with a trembling hand to your stomach. He had a gnawing feeling in his gut that something was wrong around here.
You slowly stepped into father Wyatt's office, lingering by the door as you continued to hold a hand against your aching stomach. Your body felt stiff and you struggled to get yourself to move
"Close the door." Father Wyatt ordered as he stood tall behind his desk, glaring at you with his cold blue eyes.
You swallowed at the lump in the back of your throat, lowering your gaze as you turned and pushed the door closed. You turned back to father Wyatt, folding your hands together in front of you, your head bowed.
"I hear you've been getting friendly with Mr. Dixon." Father Wyatt spoke in a gruff low voice as he continued to stare you down.
"I've only been talking to him." You defended yourself weakly.
"It's improper!" he yells at you. "Father Emil says he caught you smoking with Mr. Dixon." he accused as he pointed a finger at you. "You were preparing dinner with him and now eating with him! Does that sound proper, sister Y/N!?"
"I'm sorry father." You whispered as you slowly shook your head.
"You are a disgrace! This is a filthy way for a sister of this church to behave!" He yelled at you and you flinched as his voice grew louder. "This cannot go unpunished, sister. I cannot let you believe this behaviour is acceptable."
"Father, I am sorry." You apologized weakly as you hesitantly lifted your head, looking at Father Wyatt. You watched him as he picked up a black leather whip with a wooden paddle on the edge. "I'm sorry." You apologized again, sniffing as you began to cry.
"It hurts me to do this, but it is the only way you will learn, sister." Father Wyatt stated as he rounded his table and approached you. He grabbed your shoulder roughly and forcefully bend you over his desk as your cries grew louder.
Your punishment left you hidden in your room for the rest of the day and most of the following day. Your back was littered in sore open welts that bled through your clothes and your bedsheets.
Daryl grew a little angsty when he didn't see you return from father Wyatt's office, and he didn't see you at dinner nor at breakfast the following morning.
He approached sister Tatiana in the garden. "Have you seen sister Y/n? I've been looking for her." he said as he looked at the nun with a weary expression.
"She's in her rooms." Sister Tatiana mumbled softly, slowly shaking her head. "Do not bother her." She told him before turning around and walking away.
Daryl's eyebrows furrowed as he looked at sister Tatiana walking away. That unsettled feeling in his stomach grew bigger. He turned around and went off to search for you.
He managed to lie his way into finding out where your room was and stole a key to get in. He carefully and quietly snuck inside, his gaze turning to your sleeping form in your bed.
"Hey, psst!" He called out in a hushed voice as he quietly closed the door. He approached you, pausing when he saw the pale red color bleeding through your white sleep gown.
Your eyes fluttered open and you gasped when you saw Daryl standing over you. "Oh my God." You snapped as you sat up. "What are you doing in here?"
"What's that?" he asked you as he pointed towards your back and you shifted uncomfortably in response. "Let me see." he demanded.
"No. Leave it." You demanded as you shook your head, your eyes pricking with unshed tears.
"Y/n, let me see." He demanded as he stepped closer to you. He reached for the back of your dress and you let out a shaky breath, letting him pull the dress up.
Daryl's hand froze when he pulled the dress up halfway and saw the open bleeding welts running all over your back. His jaw clenched and his gaze flicked towards your face.
He pulled back from you, turning around and pacing a few steps before turning back to you. "Who did that?" he questioned firmly as he looked at you.
"Father Wyatt..." You whispered as you turned your head to meet his gaze. "He was upset about me spending time with you."
"He fucking hit you for it?" he asked gruffly and you slowly nodded your head in response.
Daryl huffed softly before turning around and storming out of your room. A dreadful feeling settled into your stomach and you quickly got up, getting dressed as fast as your sore and hurt body could manage.
He stormed into Father Wyatt's office without knocking, breathing heavily like a caged animal, staring father Wyatt down as he began pacing the small space.
"Mr. Dixon, can I help you?" Father Wyatt asked calmly as he clasped his hands together on top of the table.
"Y/n." Daryl spat as he glared at father Wyatt. "I went to see her."
"Mr. Dixon, Y/n is a very troubled young woman." Father Wyatt claimed as he sighed heavily, like you were all the cause of his stress and worries. "Whatever she's told you-"
"Told me?" Daryl snapped, cutting Father Wyatt off mid sentence. "She showed me what you did you bastard!" he yelled angrily.
"Punishment is the only authority sister Y/n responds to." Father Wyatt explained with another heavy sigh as he sat back in his chair, staring up at Daryl with boredom in his eyes.
Daryl huffed angrily and launched forward, grabbing onto the edge of the flimsy wooden desk, throwing it against the side wall. "You sick fuck!" He screamed as he grabbed Father Wyatt by his shirt, yanked him up to his feet and slammed him against the wall. "You fucking beat her!"
Daryl pulled Father Wyatt back from the wall and slammed him face first into another wall. When he pulled Father Wyatt back again, he turned the man and landed a hard punch to his face.
The door slammed open and two of the church obedientiaries rushed into the room. Father Wyatt was on the floor and Daryl was on top of him, hitting him over and over. The obedientiaries grabbed onto Daryl, struggling to pull him off the bloody priest.
"You beat her you fuck!" Daryl spat at the bloody man beneath him. "You ain't ever going to touch her again! You're fucking done!"
You rushed downstairs, noticing the few people surrounding Father Wyatt's office. A struggle came from inside.
You glanced at sister Tatiana, stiffly walking to her side. "What's going on?" You asked her in a hushed voice.
"Daryl went in there and attacked father Wyatt." She claimed, laying a hand over her heart as she shook her head.
Your gaze diverted as the obedientiaries shoved Daryl out of the office. He turned around, trying to get back into the office to get at Father Wyatt, but the obedientiaries firmly pushed him backwards.
Daryl turned with a huff and his gaze landed on you. He approached you, a hand wrapping around your arm as he turned you around and lead you back upstairs.
"What happened?" You asked, grimacing as you tried to keep up with Daryl's long steps.
"We're leaving." Daryl informed you, keeping a hand on your arm as he nudged you up the stairs.
You came to a stop at the top of the stairs, turning to face Daryl. "You're taking me with you?" You asked softly as you stared up at him.
"I ain't leaving you in this shithole." He replied with a shake of his head as he gently nudged you to keep walking. He lead you back into your bedroom, closing the door behind him. "Pack what you can carry." he ordered. "Change into something else if you can."
You nodded your head in confirmation and turned to pack a light bag but when Daryl opened the door, you looked at him with furrowed eyebrows. "Where are you going?" you asked him.
"To get my bag." He replied. "Lock this door behind me." he ordered before closing the door and heading for his own room.
You rushed to the door, locking it behind him. You got changed into a pair of plain black pants and a grey t-shirt before continuing to pack a few other things.
Ten minutes after leaving, Daryl knocked on the door and you opened for him. He locked the door behind him again and pushed your cupboard in front of it.
"What's going on?" You asked him, heart pounding with nerves in your chest as your breathing grew a little heavier.
"They're coming for you too." Daryl claimed, taking your bag from you and heading over to the window.
There was a loud pounding on the door that startled you, freezing you up with fear. "Sister Y/n, open this door!" One of the obedientiaries demanded as he continued to pound on the door.
Daryl opened the window and threw the bags on the roof below before turning towards you. He took your arm, pulling you to the window. "We have to go, now." he told you firmly.
You carefully climbed out of the window with Daryl's help, landing with a thud on the roof below. He was right behind you, grabbing both the bags and your hand as he lead you to the other side of the roof.
You climbed down in the courtyard and snuck around the back of the building before climbing the wall. Once outside the walls, you both ran for as long as you could, only slowing to a walk when you thought you were far enough from the church.
"We gotta find a car." Daryl stated as his eyes scanned the surrounding area for any car that looked in slightly good condition.
"There's a farm, not too far from here. The Abbey stores a lot of things there that we no longer use or don't have space for. There's cars." You told him. "There's usually only two people watching the place."
He thought for a moment before nodding his head. "Lead the way." he agreed with a nod of his head.
The walk was about half an hour and Daryl took care of both the men keeping watch of the farm house. He didn't tell you what he did, but by his bloody hands, you knew it was nothing pretty.
"There cars are in there." You told him as you two walked across the field, pointing towards the large garage behind the house. "One of them was still working last month, I don't know what condition it'll be in now." You admitted.
"We'll see." He replied with a nod of his head. He glanced at you over his shoulder, his eyebrows furrowing a little. "So how long has he been hurting you?"
"A very long time." You replied softly. "I've tried running away but when they catch me, it just a lot worse." You explained softly.
"Only way he's getting his hands on you again, is if I'm dead." he assured as he looked back at you over his shoulder for another moment.
"Why?" You asked softly as you took a few steps closer to him, walking by his side. "Why care?"
"If someone sees that, and decide to not give a shit about it, something's really fucking wrong." He commented gruffly as he shook his head.
"A lot of the nuns knew. They said it was because I never listened." You told him as you slowly shook your head. "They always said it was my own fault. That I deserved it."
"That's bullshit." he huffed softly as he shook his head again. He cleared his throat, staying quiet for a few seconds before speaking again. "My daddy was mean ol' drunk. Told me it was my own fault too whenever he hit me." he admitted softly and your heart ached in your chest as you looked at Daryl with sad eyes. "It wasn't. And it ain't yours either."
You came up to the garage and Daryl pulled open the heavy doors. He approached the black car that was inside, looking it over. "Get in and pop the hood." he instructed you as he put the bags down.
You climbed into the car, popping the hood for Daryl. You waited as he checked the engine, fiddling with your hands on your lap as you watched him through the small gap where the hood was bend open.
"There tools around here?" he asked as he rounded the car to your open door.
"There should be." You confirmed as you climbed out of the car and helped Daryl search for tools.
You found a box of tools and two cans of gas and Daryl took all three of the items. While he tried to fix the engine, you filled the gas tank.
"Get in, I'm gonna need you to push the gas pedal." He instructed you and you nodded as you climbed into the driver's seat of the car. "Go ahead, give it some gas. Just a little." he called out to you.
Your foot pressed down on the gas pedal and the car made a terrible noise as it tried to start.
"Stop!" Daryl ordered as he banged against the open hood of the car and you ripped your foot of the pedal. "I said a little." he told you in a scolding manner.
Your brows furrowed as you turned your head to look through the small gap at the bottom of the open hood. "That was a little." You insisted.
"No, that was too much." He informed you as he shook his head.
You sighed heavy as you slouched back in your seat but sat back up with a winch as the cuts on your back burned. "Well...how am I supposed to know how much is too much?" you questioned him.
"Well you listen, and if it sounds like it's too much, then it's too much." he explained as he tilted his head down to look at you through the small gap at the bottom of the open hood.
"Well maybe you're too much." You mumbled softly as you subtly rolled your eyes at him.
"What?" he questioned, raising his eyebrows at you like he was daring you to repeat yourself.
"Nothing." You replied as you diverted your gaze.
"What did you say?" he questioned you as his eyebrows remained raised in a challenging manner.
"I didn't say anything." You told him as you shook your head.
Daryl stood up and rounded the car, bending down to lean into the car. "I didn't hear you, what did you say?" he asked again, his eyebrows still raised.
You looked away, unable to stop yourself as a small chuckle escaped you. "Nothing. I said nothing." You told him as you shook your head again.
"That's what I thought." He replied gruffly as he returned to the engine.
Daryl managed to fix the engine and you figured out how much gas was enough gas for the man. You decided to stick around a bit longer to get cleaned up in the house that had somewhat running water that came from the lake out back.
"So...where are we going?" You asked him curiously as you were in the bedroom, standing topless to apply some old ointment you had found, on your back, hoping it would help.
"Don't know yet." Daryl replied as he walked out of the bathroom after you made him go clean up. He paused when he saw you standing there without a shirt and quickly diverted his gaze. "Sorry."
"I'm sure it's nothing you haven't seen before." You teased softly and you could see the way his cheeks grew a little red as he looked anywhere but you.
Hesitantly he looked towards you, watching the way you arm awkwardly bend back as you tried to apply ointment to a hard to reach cut in the middle of your back. "Need some help?" He asked gruffly.
"Well that's a pretty romantic offer." You commented dryly as a lopsided smile tugged at your lips.
"Shut up." Daryl huffed softly as he walked over to you. "Give me that." he insisted as he held his hand out for the ointment.
You gave him the ointment and as he applied it to you back, his hands were gentle and careful. You looked at him over your shoulder, smiling softly in amusement before turning your head back.
"We should get going." he insisted softly as he finished applying the ointment to your back. "Those pricks could show up here." he added as he turned around when you pulled on your shirt.
"Yeah. Okay." You agreed softly as you turned to him, nodding your head in agreement.
You left the farm and got onto the road, searching for a man Daryl told you on the drive, his brother, Rick Grimes. You didn't have much of a direction in mind, but you two stuck together as you traveled.

i saw that you have a fic in which dean is 6 years late and reader has a daughter, ive not read it yet but i bet its amazing
anyways i had a similar idea and I wanted to share it with you - use it if you want.
Reader gives dean a letter in the motel room, and leaves. leaving the hunting life -she found out shes pregnant and wants a less dangerous life and she wants to give him some space to think about what he wants too. he either doesn't see it because its fallen down the side of tge bed, or hes too angry at the "ive left"part he doesn't bother reading the reason.
As the reader goes through pregnancy J*hn is there for her and keeps telling reader that dean just doesn't want that life. and reader is like well when you get the chance show/tell dean (about ultrasounds, even gender) and J*hn even helps her move into an old farmhouse - it was said to be haunted to the could never sell it which is why she got it so cheap - and even carved sigils into the floor abd the foundations as they rebuilt.
but he never told Dean, not once, even lied and said hed not heard from her - because thats something j*hn would do - he wants his boys finding their mothers killer and a baby just isnt in the cards.
One day theres a case in town and the brothers roll on up, and everyone is like well that haunted farm house. and do they go, and shes in the house watching the horses as her child is in the highchair eating and she hears the Impala pull up. And she walks out all happy, standing tall on the wrap around porch. and dean and sam step out and shes happily like "its about time you showed up" thinking hes come around to the idea and wants to be a family. and Dean is FUMING because from his POV she left when he went to get some supplies, and what shes been here hiding this whole time!.
And then the kid shouts for reader and the bros are like 😮.
And then they find out the the dad never told dean. and reader is like in gunna kill John when i see him tomorrow
and Dean - who has been looking for his father- is like ??? Are you seeing my dad?? and shes like he literally comes over at least 2 times a month, for home cooked meal, time with his granddaughter and get a good nights sleep. Do you not know this?
and then theyre all just like wtf John, and get their stories straight.
(lets-imagine-fanfics)
Left.
I love this idea so much!! And good on you for sensoring J*hn because yeah, I get that!!! I hope you like the story and it's what you imagined!!
Pairing: Dean Winchester x F!Reader.
Summary: You leave the hunting life after finding out you're pregnant. You gave John the letter you wrote to Dean, and he burned it. He wouldn't let you mess up the hunting life for Dean, but John still stayed around from time to time.
You silently stared at the pregnancy test. You had taken it the previous night and you've had about roughly twelve hours to think about your next move.
You knew you were taking the wrong road but talking to Dean would just be too hard. He wasn't a person who did good with emotions in front of other people. It was better for him to do this on his own.
So you would do what you thought was best. You'd write him a letter. You knew you couldn't stay, you couldn't have a baby and hunt. It was dangerous and reckless. You had to leave for your baby's sake.
You walked out of the bathroom, placing the test on the bedside table before sitting down on the edge of the bed. Dean and John were working a case, so you had some time.
You grabbed the pad of paper and a pen from the bedside table and began writing.
Dean, I'm sorry for leaving without a word. I can't do this face to face and I know this way will be easier for you too.
I'm pregnant. This life, it isn't for children and so all I can do now is leave. But you love this life, so I will let you choose if you want to leave it or not.
If you don't call me, I'll know what you've decided.
Love, Y/n.
The room door opened and you tensed as your eyes widened. John Winchester walked into the room, eyebrows raising when he saw your tense expression. He stepped into the room, his gaze shifting to the pregnancy on the table.
"What's this?" He questioned as he looked down at the two little red lines before his gaze shifted towards your bags by the door and the note in your hand. "Oh..."
"I'm pregnant." You whispered as you stood up. "Dean doesn't know but I wrote him this letter." You explained as you held out the letter. "Will you give it to him?"
John took the letter from you. "You leaving?" He asked as he raised his eyebrows at you again. You slowly nodded your head in confirmation. "You have somewhere to go?"
"I'll figure something out." You mumbled softly as you shrugged your shoulders.
John sighed softly, pulling his wallet out of his pocket. He pulled out a few wads of cash, handing them over. "This odd to get you by until we figure something else out."
"We?" You repeated softly.
"Gotta take care of my grandbaby, don't I?" He stated more than asked as he reached into his other pocket and pulled out his car keys, handing them to you.
"Thank you." You said sincerely.
You didn't look back as you left and you didn't stop driving untill the sun rose. You were a few towns over, staying in another motel.
It had been a day. A whole day. And you hadn't heard anything from Dean yet. You tried remaining calm, knowing he would need time to make his decision. But a day turned into two, and then into three and then into four.
John had gotten in contact to know where you were and he showed up a few hours later.
When you opened the door to see just John, you frowned deeply. "Where is he?" You asked softly.
John sighed, running a hand over his mouth. "Let's sit down, kid." He suggested softly as he lead you into the room and towards the table and chairs in the corner. You both sat down and John cleared his throat. "He's not coming."
Your heart clenched painfully in your chest, your eyes burned and a knot formed in the back of your throat. "W-what?" You whispered.
John sighed softly, lowering his gaze. "He's not ready. He's not ready to give up the life, to be a dad." he explained as his gaze returned to you.
"He said that?" You asked softly as a tear escaped your eye and slipped down your cheek, settling bitterly into the corner of your mouth.
John reached out and took your hand, giving it a soft squeeze. "I'm so sorry." he apologized softly. "I thought I raised my boy better than this." he added as he shook his head in disappointment.
"It's his choice." You whispered as you shook you head. You were upset, devastated and completely heartbroken, but you couldn't be angry at Dean for making his decision when you gave him the option.
You still held onto hope that Dean would maybe change his mind, that he would come around and decide that he would be there for you and the baby. John remained in your life and you gave him updates on the baby every now and then, you also gave John a copy of every ultrasound you got, to give to Dean.
One morning there was a knock on your motel room door. Like always you felt a little bit of hope that it was Dean on the other side, and like always it was crushed when you opened the door to see John.
"Brought you some food." John stated as he held up two grocery bags. He entered the motel room, his eyes scanning the space like always, making sure everything was still alright.
You closed the door, placing a hand on your baby bump as you followed him towards the table in the corner. "Thanks." You said, offering him a small smile.
"I also brought this." he told you, pulling a folded paper out of his pocket and handed it to you.
You took the paper and carefully unfolded it. For a moment you stupidly thought maybe it was a letter from Dean. It wasn't. It was listing for an old farm house just a town over. Four bedrooms, three bathrooms, an open kitchen and two living rooms.
Your brows furrowed as you looked at John. "What's this?" You asked, your voice a mix of confusion and curouisity.
"A nice place to raise a kid." John declared as he shoved his hands into his jacket pocket.
"Why's it so cheap?" You asked skeptical as you raised your eyebrows at him. The house was well below the market price. It was big, with a lot of space, even had a lake out back. And it seemed to still be in good condition.
John cleared his throat. "A few people died in the place and now they think it's haunted." he explained.
"You want to move your unborn grandchild into a haunted farm house?" You asked him as your eyebrows furrowed once more.
"It's not haunted. I went over there yesterday and did a full sweep of the place." he assured you as he shook his head, rolling his eyes at you a little bit. "I'll help you pay and I'll help you get settled in."
You placed the paper on the table and slowly sat down in a chair, silently rubbing your belly for a moment. "What about Dean?" You asked softly as your gaze fell to the table.
John let out a heavy sigh as he diverted his gaze for a moment. "He's not coming, Y/n." he told you as he slowly shook his head.
"Did you give him last weeks ultrasound?" You asked softly as you folded your hands together on the table, fiddling with your fingers as you continued staring at the table.
"He doesn't want them." he declared as he shook his head. He took the paper of the farm house and slid it towards you. "This place is good to raise a baby. In a little over five months, the baby will be here. You can't raise them in a motel room." he tried to reason with you."
You looked at John with watery eyes. "You'll help me?" You asked softly. You were so afraid of doing any of this alone, that you were willing to accept all the help John was willing to give.
"I'm not abandoning you or my grandbaby." he assured as he slowly shook his head.
Over the next few weeks John helped you settle into the farmhouse. He filled every inch of the house with furniture, and ensured your kitchen cupboards had food. Where he got all the money for it, you didn't ask.
He held off on decorating your nursery, wanting to know the gender of the baby first. You were twenty one weeks pregnant when your baby had finally turned in a way that the doctor could see their gender.
You were sitting on the front porch, reading one of your many baby books. You remained seated as John's car pulled up in front of the house and he climbed out with grocery bags.
When he came up the porch, you finally pulled yourself up from your chair. "I have news." You told him with excitement in your voice, one hand resting against your belly.
"Is it the baby?" John asked as he raised his eyebrows, his gaze flicking between your eyes and your belly.
"You're having a granddaughter." You informed him as you smiled softy.
John's eyes widened a little at the news and you swore you saw his eyes getting glossy for a quick moment. He stepped forwards, hugging you with one arm. "Congratulations, Y/n."
You hugged him back for a moment before pulling away. "I know Dean asked you to stop telling him things about the baby...but will you tell him he's having a daughter?" You asked softly.
John stared at you for a moment before diverting his gaze as he sighed softly. A moment later he hesitantly nodded his head in agreement as he ran a hand over his face.
As the months passed and you got near your due date, you still held out hope that Dean would come around. But at the birth of your daughter, only John Winchester was there.
Madeline was born three days after her actual due date, perfectly healthy with all ten little toes and all ten little fingers. She was the exact copy of you with her father's eyes.
As more and more time passed, you made peace with the fact that it was just you and your little girl, and occasionally John Winchester. He came by at least twice a month for some cuddles with Madeline, a home cooked meal, a bed to sleep in and to drop off groceries.
One morning you were in the kitchen, watching as Madeline explored her mashed bananas and strawberries with her hands, shoving some into her mouth.
You had read that it was good for babies of eight months to start exploring more solid food with their own hands. But as you stared at her messy little hands, her chubby cheeks smeared with pale yellow and red streaks, you wanted to pull your hair out of your head.
"Maybe we just..." You mumbled as you grabbed a cloth and wiped off her cheeks. Madeline mumbled in a huffy manner, scowling as her dirty hands pushed your away. "Okay." You sighed as you pulled away.
Your gaze diverted, eyebrows furrowing when you heard the sound of a noisy car approached down the dirt road leading up to the farm.
"Grandpa's early." You commented to Madeline as you peered out of the window that showed the side of the house. You caught a glimpse of a black Impala driving to the front of the house. "Oh my God." You gasped.
John had told you he'd given the Impala to Dean. You knew. You just knew, it was Dean pulling up to your home.
You ran to the front door and ripped it open, rushing onto the front porch. Dean and Sam climbed out of the car, scanning the house without noticing you.
Dean still looked the same. As handsome as the day you last saw him.
You were surprised to see Sam with him. The last you saw Sam, was right before he left for collage, promising he was done with this life, done hunting and killing monsters.
"Dean?" You called out, your heart feeling ten tons lighter than it had in a very long time. You didn't know whether to be angry to happy, or burst out in tears right where you stood.
Dean's head snapped in your direction, his eyebrows furrowing and his eyes widening as he looked at you. He was startled to see you, confused as well.
"It's about time you showed up." You told him, a small sad smile barely tugging at your lips as you stood on the porch, leaning with your hands against the railing.
"Y/n?" Dean questioned, his brows furrowing even deeply as he slowly approached the other side of the porch. "What is this?" he asked as he spread his arms out by his sides. "Some sick joke?"
"What?" You asked as your eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
"Did you plan all this? The haunted farm house at the end of the road that everyone is skeptical about?" He asked, his voice rising in anger. "Because what would a runaway hunter do in a freaking haunted farm house?" he snapped.
"Wait-" You tried to interfere as you shook your head.
"So this is where you've been all this time, huh?" he snapped at you. "A few towns over!?"
"I thought you knew!?" You snapped back at him as your eyebrows furrowed deeply in confusion.
"How would I know when you left without a word!?" Dean yelled and Sam stepped forward, placing a cautious hand on Dean's arm, a small attempt to get his brother to ease down. "No goodbye, no note, no text! Nothing!"
Your shook your head. That wasn't true. John had told you he gave Dean the note, that Dean said he wasn't ready to be a dad. Why was he acting like this was all on you?
Madeline, who had been left alone too long too her liking, started wailing from the kitchen. Dean's eyebrows furrowed and he looked at the house. He was taken aback at the sound of a baby coming from the house. Sam's eyebrows furrowed as he shifted his gaze to Dean, a wary look in his eyes.
"Whose that?" Dean asked with a tense voice as he looked at you, his eyes narrowing at you.
You huffed in disbelief as you shook your head at Dean. "Your daughter." You spat at him before turning around and rushing back into the house. You scooped your crying daughter into your arms, rocking her gently. "Alright. It's alright." You cooed softly.
Dean and Sam shared a confused look from outside the house before Dean turned and followed you into the house. Sam was close behind his brother.
Dean froze at the kitchen entrance when he saw you trying to settle the baby in your arms. His heart momentarily stopped. His daughter? His daughter. How was that possible? How could he have a daughter? How could you have kept her from him? Is this why you ran away without so much as a word?
"W-what? What is going on?" Dean asked as he tried to wrap his head around everything. He had found you after all this time and suddenly you had a little baby.
"What do you mean what's going on?" You huffed angrily at him as your eyebrows furrowed.
"You have a freaking kid, Y/n." Dean huffed back at you as he pointed towards Madeline.
"Yeah, the one you said you weren't ready to be a dad too." You reminded him sharply as you gently rubbed Madeline's back.
"No, I didn't." Dean denied with a firm shake of his head as his eyes narrowed.
"Yes, you did." You replied with a nod of your head.
"How can I say that, when I just found out about her?" Dean huffed angrily as he raised his eyebrows at you. "When you didn't bother telling me anything about her?"
Cold dread filled you as your face fell a little. "Dean, I gave your dad a letter to give to you, with the pregnancy test." You informed him and Dean's eyebrows furrowed again. "I wanted to give you some time on your own to think, because I know that's how you prefer things. He told me you weren't ready to give up the hunting life or be a dad."
Dean's jaw clenched tightly, his eyes flicking to Madeline when she whined in your arms. His eyes flicked back to you and he slowly shook his head. "He never told me anything. He said he didn't know you left." he informed you.
"I gave him every ultrasound of her, to give to you. I told him to tell you she was a girl." You told him softly, resting one hand on the back of Madeline's head.
"He knew...he knew all this time?" Dean asked in a tight voice, his eyes growing glossy. He had never felt this kind of betrayal. His own father had hidden the existence of his own daughter. He had made you think he had not wanted to be a father.
"I'm going to kill him tomorrow." You huffed, your eyes burning with tears as you sniffed, slowly shaking your head.
Sam looked at you, his eyebrows furrowing. "What?" he questioned in confusion. "What do you mean, tomorrow?" he asked you.
"When he's coming over." You explained as you shifted Madeline from one arm to the other.
"Has my dad been around?" Dean asked you, the same confusion as Sam's, displayed all over his face.
"He comes by at least two times a week." You informed them and both Sam and Dean's eyes widened in surprise and shock.
"Wait, let me get this right. He comes by twice a month?" Dean asked as he tried to wrap his head around what you were saying.
"Yeah. He comes to see Madeline, brings us some groceries, then I cook for him and he sleeps a night or two in the guest room." You explained as you looked between the two of them.
"Y/n, when was the last time you saw him?" Sam asked as he stepped a little closer to you.
"Two weeks ago." You replied with a shrug of your shoulders.
"Y/n, he's been missing for two months." Dean informed you. "We can't find him and he isn't answering any calls." he added as he shook his head.
"I've seen him three times in the past two months." You admitted as you looked between the two brothers again.
"Well this is definitely on brand for him." Sam scoffed in bitter amusement as he nodded his head.
Madeline cooed in your arms and Dean's gaze diverted to the little girl. He swallowed hard and looked at Sam over his shoulder. "Hey Sammy, can you give us a minute?" he asked.
Sam looked at Dean in silence for a second before nodding his head. "Yeah sure." He agreed. He glanced at you, quirking an eyebrow.
"The living room is just through there." You told him, pointing to the room down the hallway. Sam nodded and left, leaving you and Dean to talk.
You looked at Dean and his gaze was on Madeline. "Do you want to hold her?" You asked him softly.
"I shouldn't." he replied hesitantly as he shook his head. "I don't...really know how to hold a baby." he said, his gaze remaining on Madeline.
You stepped closer to him. "It's easy." You assured as you gently nudged the baby towards him and Dean had no choice but to accept her. He held her awkwardly, one arm wrapped around her back and the other around her legs. He eyed her carefully. "She won't break." you assured.
Dean looked at you before looking down at Madeline. She cooed softly, reaching up to touch the stubble on his cheek. "Hi." he greeted awkwardly as he gently bounced her.
"I'm sorry Dean." You whispered as you looked at him. "I just wanted to give you space to think and make your decision on your own. And I was...scared to talk to you. I was a coward so I thought it was better leaving a note." You admitted as you lowered your gaze.
"Yeah, you should have." Dean agreed with a nod of his head. He diverted his gaze. "You shouldn't have done any of this on your own either." he said softly as he shook his head.
"He told me he gave you all the notes and the ultrasounds. He said you didn't want me or her." You whispered, your eyes growing teary again. "I've missed you so much, Dean. Every day I held out hope that you would come to us."
"Come here." he whispered as he unwrapped one arm from Madeline and held it open. You approached Dean, laying your head against his shoulder as he placed his hand on the back of your head. "Why did you never try to contact me?"
"I thought you didn't want us Dean. I was respecting your wishes." You explained softly as you wrapped your arms around his waist, a few tears running down your cheeks.
Dean glanced down at the baby in his arms. Her head was tilted back as she stared up at him with parted lips.
He blinked a few tears away. He was a dad. He had a little girl. He'd already missed so much of her life, but he vowed he wouldn't miss anymore.
Sam and Dean stayed the night and together you agreed to figure everything out the following morning.
You cooked the boys the meal you were supposed to cook for John the next day. You had already left him a message that you knew everything and would prefer if he didn't come around for a bit.
After dinner, you had let Dean change Madeline's diaper, sending him right into the trenches of fatherhood.
"You're sure she's not going to pee on me?" Dean asked, the concern clear in his voice as he eyed the baby that laid on the bed with a toy in her hand.
"She's not going to pee on you." You repeated for a third time as you placed everything he'd need, right next to Madeline on the bed.
"Okay, because I've heard they do that sometimes." Dean informed you as his eyebrows furrowed.
"Yeah, boys." You told him as you crossed your arms over your chest. "She's not going to pee on you."
Dean turned to the little girl, giving her a faux stern look. "Just between you and me, I'm going to be very pissed if you pee on me." He told her.
Madeline stared up at him. She didn't understand a single word he was saying, but the baby liked when people talked directly towards her so she squealed as a gummy smile spread across her lips.
"I'm serious, kid." He told her, his voice still holding that faux sterness. "Now, let's get started."
He changed her diaper like it contained radioactive waste, gagging every now and then. You were amused as you watched him.
"It's just pee. She didn't even poop." You scoffed as you shook your head at him.
Dean looked at you with a wary look in his eyes. "You're not going to make me change one of those, are you?" He asked in concern as he fixed Madeline's footy pajamas before picking her up.
"Oh, I am." You assured with a smile as you nodded your head at him.
He let out a wary sigh, glancing down at the baby as she picked at a button on his shirt. His gaze turned back to the bed, picking up the soiled diaper, holding it out to you. "That's for you."
"Thanks." You replied dryly as you took the diaper to throw away.
Dean turned his head slightly as Madeline pressed her cheek against his. He closed his eyes, breathing in the sweet smell of the baby soap and powder. When his eyes opened, he hesitantly placed a kiss against her chubby little cheek.
You watched him, your heart aching terribly. "I know you missed a lot of time with her, but you're here now and there will always be space for you in this house. For Sam too." You assured softly as you leaned forward and kissed his cheek before leaving to throw the diaper away.
That night you and Dean sat together in the living room. Madeline laid chest to chest with Dean, her head on his shoulder as she slept with her baby blanket laying over her tiny body.
On your lap you had her baby album open. There wasn't a lot yet, but it documented your pregnancy and Madeline's life up until a picture of Madeline from a week ago.
"Wait-" Dean mumbled softly, eyebrows furrowing as he reached out and flipped to the front of the album where Madeline's birth certificate was. "Winchester?" He whispered.
You looked down at the certificate. Madeline Mary Winchester. You looked back at Dean. "What else would she be?" You asked softly.
"I thought after thinking I abandoned you both, you'd have probably named her anything else." He admitted as he stared down at the certificate.
"She's a Winchester." You insisted. "She looks like one and she tantrums like one." You added and Dean softly scoffed in amusement.
His gaze lowered down to the little girl, and he softly rubbed her back as you continued showing him the album.
Dean had no choice but to not be there during your pregnancy, or the birth, or the first eight months of Madeline's life. But he had a choice now, and he was going to he there for both of you.
I know you like just wrote it but do you think you could do like a part 2 to the Daughter fic with Dean? Maybe just something where it’s a couple months later or some time has passed and we could see like how dean interacts with the reader and Lilly? Maybe some Sam stuff too? Whether we live closer to dean and he visits or we end up like moving in with them? Sorry I’m a sucker for stuff where reader has a kid with someone😓❤️
A Daughter. PT.2
Part 1 - Part 2
Pairing: Dean Winchester x F!Reader.
Summary: Live so far with you, Dean, your little girl Lily and uncle Sam.
Lily ran ahead of you as you opened the bunker door. She was eager to see her daddy and her uncle.
It's been a year with the Winchester brother's and many things had changed while much stayed the same. Dean and Lily had become thick as thieves, the two trouble makers practically inseparable when they were together. Dean had really stepped up to being a father and he took care of both you and Lily.
While you and Dean had reconnected a bit, and maybe fell into bed together once or twice, nothing was set in stone yet. You both still had much navigating to do with co-parenting.
"Daddy!" Lily called out as she ran down the stairs.
Dean got up from his seat in the libary and met his daughter halfway. "There's my munchkin!" He said as he spread his arms out.
Lily jumped into Dean's arms and he picked her up, resting her on his hip. "Look how pretty my hair is." She said excitedly as she brushed a hand through her hair.
Dean looked at the little girl's hair, his brows furrowing. It was a few inches shorter than when he last saw her two days ago.
When his brows furrowed, it hit you. You didn't tell him, you didn't even talk to Dean about it. For so long you were the only one making decisions that it truly slipped your mind.
Dean's gaze found yours. "You cut her hair?" He asked in a voice that grew tense for a moment.
You pursed your lips as your eyebrows furrowed in response, giving Dean an apologetic look before diverting your gaze and walking into the library with Lily's bag.
"Do you like my hair daddy?" Lily asked, looking up at Dean with innocent wide eyes.
"Yeah, munchkin. You look really pretty." He assured her softly as he ran his hand through her hair. Dean wasn't upset about the cutting of Lily's hair, he was upset you didn't even have one conversation about it with him. He felt left out.
With Lily in his arms, Dean turned around and followed you into the library. His brows furrowed as you began unpacking Lily's snacks for the weekend. The last time Dean had seen anything as horrible, was the last time he trusted Sam to get them food.
"What's this?" he asked as he picked up a container with baby carrots inside.
"She likes them." You defended as you pulled out another container with some dried fruits inside. Dean pulled a face of disgust as he looked at you. "It's healthy."
"It's rabbit food." he corrected you. "Where's the grease and the sugar?" he asked as he raised his eyebrows at you.
"Oh I'm sure you have plenty of that in your fridge." You replied as you crossed your arms over your chest. Dean scowled at you, not liking the way you said it like it was a bad thing.
Heavy footsteps approached down the hallway and Sam emerged into the front room by the stairs. Lilly wiggled herself out of Dean's grip and when her feet hit the floor, she dashed towards Sam.
"Uncle Sammy!" She squealed as she ran for him.
Sam spread out his arms, catching Lily with a grunt. "Hey sweet girl." he greeted as he picked her up, ruffling her hair. He looked over in your direction and waved. "Y/n."
"Hey Sam." You greeted as you waved back at him.
Sam kept Lily, holding her as he turned around and walked towards the kitchen. "Uncle Sam made us some breakfast." he told Lily as he poked her side and she giggled as she wiggled in his arms.
Your gaze slowly lowered as you continued unpacking Lily's snacks. Dean felt relieved when he saw there were a few unhealthy options amongst the little girl's weekend snacks.
His gaze turned to you. "So you cut her hair." he commented dryly. He tried to sound casual about it, but you could tell he was really upset.
You looked up at him. "I'm sorry." You apologized as you sighed softly. "It seemed like such a little thing in the moment, I forgot there's two of us taking care of her now." You explained as you sat down. "I should have talked to your first."
You seemed so genuinely apologetic for not talking to him first, that Dean struggled to remain pissed off at you. He sat down as well. "Well there is two of us now." he reminded as he cleared his throat. "I know it's silly...it's just hair. But I've already missed out on so many decisions in her life."
"I really am sorry." You apologized again. "We knew co-parenting wasn't going to be easy, but we've been doing good so far, I think." you rambled softly. "I was just used to making all the decisions. I don't want to exclude you in any way Dean, it just really slipped my mind."
"Yeah...I get that." He replied softly, diverting his gaze as he ran a hand over his face. "There's actually something I wanted to talk to you about."
"Okay." You replied with a nod of your head, you attention fully turning to Dean.
"This place is big...and there's a lot of rooms." he began, looking everywhere and anywhere that isn't your face. He was silent for a moment before clearing his throat. "There's room for you and Lily."
"Oh..." You whispered as your gaze fell to the table. It was a big step, somehow bigger than moving thirteen hours from home, just to be closer to Dean.
"Between hunts, I already don't have much time with Lily." Dean explained as he finally met your gaze. "I want to take every minute I can get, up till the last second I go to sleep or when I walk out those doors." he told you, pointing towards the heavy bunker doors at the top of the stairs.
"Okay." You replied softly as you nodded your head, fully understanding where Dean was coming from. "It just feels like...a very big decision to make." You reasoned.
"Not when it comes to seeing my daughter as much as I can." Dean denied with a quick shake of his head. He silently stared at you for a moment. "This is about you. About us. Isn't it?"
"Ex's don't usually live together." You reasoned softly as you shook your head. You weren't even sure your brief three day fling with him could qualify him as an ex.
"Yeah well we have a kid together." he reminded you as he quirked an eyebrow.
"Yeah people have kids all the time without living together." You replied as you crossed your arms over your chest.
"Yeah, it's called a broken home." Dean replied a little too sharply. "Lily deserves a hell of a lot better than something like that." he informed you.
You silently stared at Dean for a moment. He was right. Lily deserved to have both her mom and dad under one roof. She deserved to see Dean and Sam more.
"Can I think about it first?" You asked softly as your eyebrows furrowed.
Dean's jaw clenched and you knew it wasn't what he wanted to hear, but nevertheless he gave you a stiff nod of his head before he stood up and went to find his daughter and brother.
You had given it thought for a whole week and in the end you agreed to move into the bunker. It was still an upgrade from your tiny two bedroom apartment and you didn't have to pay for a thing, not rent or water.
Lily was ecstatic to move in with her father and uncle. She was happy to get such a big house and her own room that was a lot bigger than the one she had before. And she was over the moon when Dean and Sam told her she could decorate however she wanted.
Now you stood in the doorway of the empty bedroom, a small smile on your face. Lily sat on Sam's shoulders, paint brush in hand as she reached for those hard to reach spots at the very top, that even Sam struggled reaching.
"You missed a spot." Dean spoke playfully, pointing to the corner where Lily was painting as he walked into the bedroom with three beers and a juice box.
Lily turned her head to her father, giving him the Winchester bitch look. "Daddy my arm is tired." She whined as a pout slipped onto her lips.
"Alright, let's take a break." Dean suggested, handing you the beers and juice box before helping ease Lily off Sam's shoulders. He held her against his side. "What do you think so far?" he asked her as he glanced around at the light pink walls that was nearly half done.
"It's so pretty daddy." Lily claimed with a big smile as she wrapped her arms around his neck. She looked at Dean. "Right?"
"I think it's beautiful munchkin." he agreed as he ran a hand through her hair before setting her down on the ground.
Sam and Dean finished painting the room and then placed the furniture inside according to Lily's very strict instructions. She wanted things exactly where she wanted them, not an inch out of place.
Her first night in the new room, you went to check on her. You could hear her and Dean from the hallway and you slowly inched closer to the open door.
Dean was laying on her bed with Lily cuddled up beside him, her head resting on his shoulder as he held a story book open in front of him.
"Where's the pictures?" he asked as he flipped through the book Lily had handed him.
"There aren't any." She told him as she slightly shook her head against his shoulders.
"Well where's the one we read about the rabbit, with the pictures in?" He asked as he glanced down at her with raised eyebrows.
She scowled as she tilted her head back to look up at him. "We've already read that one. Twice." She reminded him.
"I liked that one." Dean grumbled softly, his eyebrows furrowing and a frown tugging at his lips as he turned his attention back to the book.
"We can read it tomorrow." The little girl assured her father as she patted his shoulder and you nearly wanted to melt at the sweet gesture.
Dean began softly reading to Lily, making the different voices of the characters, even pulling weird faces to make the little girl laugh. Five pages in and Lily was asleep.
Dean stayed there for a moment, just holding the little girl close as he put the book aside. When he finally decided to get up, he made sure Lily was tugged in right, had her stuffed bear in her arm and gave her a kiss on her forehead.
"That was quite the show." You mused softly as Dean walked out of the bedroom, turning off the light and leaving the door open ajar.
"I would have kicked ass if I went into acting." He insisted proudly as he nodded his head.
"Definitely." You agreed sarcastically as you nodded your head at him.
Dean looked at you, softly clearing his throat. "I wanted to say thank you." he told you softly as his eyes found yours.
"For?" You asked softly as your eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
"Moving in here." he explained as he awkwardly shrugged his shoulders. He was terrible at all these emotional moments. "It means the world to me that I get more time with Lily." he admitted as he diverted his gaze.
You stepped forward, gently resting you hand against his cheek, silently urging him to look at you again. "You don't have to thank me for that. She's your daughter and you both deserve all the time you can get." You told him softly, brushing your thumb over his stubble.
"I'm probably a lucky bastard for getting the right girl pregnant." He attempted to joke, failing badly as he chuckled akwardly.
You huffed softly in response, slapping his chest as you shook your head with a small smile daring to tug at your lips. "Asshole." You mumbled as you looked up at him.
He smiled, because it was true and deserved. He was silent for a moment as he stared down at you, his eyes searching your for something he wasn't sure of. Perhaps for meaning, on why you naturally stood so close, how both of you always managed to find a way to touch each other, why his heartbeat felt strange inside his chest or why his stomach twisted when you smiled so sweetly up at him.
He leaned down, pressing a hard kiss to you lips. You didn't hesitate to kiss him back as both your hands laid down against his chest.
It was no surprise when you woke up in Dean's bed the next morning. Naked, sore and completely satisfied. But also confused because these late nights started meaning something to you. It was more than just sex.
Your head laid on his chest, one of his arms wrapped around you, his fingers gently tracing patterns on your bare back. "We should probably get up." You mumbled softly.
"Probably." Dean agreed softly.
You both continued laying together on the bed for five more minutes. You didn't talk, you didn't move. You just laid there in each other's warmth, Dean's fingers continuing to trace soothingly over your skin.
After a moment you tilted your head back to look up at Dean. "Last night was nice." You whispered.
"Yeah it was." He agreed with a grin tugging at his lips.
You huffed softly, slapping his chest. He grunted in response before scowling down at you. "I'm trying to be...genuine here." You told him as you sat up and his hand lowered to your waist. "It felt different this time. Not like just a cheap hookup."
"Y/n, it's never been just a cheap hookup." he informed you as he sat up as well, reaching out to brush a strand of hair behind your ear. "I would never treat the mother of my child like that. I would never treat you like that." he assured as he shook his head.
"So what has this been?" You asked softly as you stared at him.
He lowered his gaze for a moment before shaking his head. "I don't know, but it's something. Something good that I don't want to lose." he admitted without looking at you.
By Dean's standards, that's practically him saying he's madly in love with you. You smiled softly and leaned forward, kissing his cheek.
Sam knocked on the door. "I'm making breakfast if you guys want some." he called out before walking down the hallway.
You pulled back from Dean, eyes widening a little. How the hell did Sam know you were in here? Dear God, you'd rather not know how he knows. The embarrassment of him knowing was already bad enough.
With heated cheeks, you climbed off the bed, sending Dean a scowl when he chuckled in amusement. He went quiet again very quickly. As you got dressed, he watched you for a moment before running his hands through his messy hair and shifting in the bed.
While Dean went to shower, you walked into the kitchen. Lily was sitting on the kitchen counter right beside Sam, following his instructions as she made the pancake mix.
"Okay, now a cup of milk." he instructed Lily, holding the cup so that she could pour the milk.
She stuck he tongue out in deep concentration as she carefully poured the milk. She immediately looked to Sam. "Like that?" She asked.
"That's perfect." he told her as he poured the milk into their mixing bowl. "Now pour some more, just to here." he instructed as he pointed to the fourth mark on the cup.
She focused even harder this time, going over the line just a tiny bit. Sam poured the milk and the cracked open an egg to add to the mixture. He helped Lily mix everything and then just let her watch as he worked with the hot pan on the stove.
"Okay, now you're in charge of toppings." Sam told her as he placed the first pancake onto a plate.
"It's smells so good in here." You commented as you finally walked into the kitchen with a small smile on your lips.
Sam glanced back at you, the amusement so clear in his eyes. "Morning." He greeted. "Sleep good?" He asked.
You avoided looking at him. "Yes." You replied dismissively and a low chuckle escaped him. You turned to Lily, kissing the top of her head. "Morning baby."
"Morning mommy." She replied as she went heavy on the whip cream and chocolate syrup on the pancake, sprinkling a few chocolate chips on. "This one is for you." She declared.
"Oh wow, thank you." You said with a smile, kissing the side of her face before taking your pancake and sitting down.
A few minutes later Dean entered the kitchen, freshly showerd and dressed in a pair of nice jeans and a red flannel with a black t-shirt.
"Daddy, can I put the toppings on your pancake?" Lily asked as she looked up at Dean.
"Of course munchkin." He agreed, kissing the side of her head when he passed by her on his way to the coffee.
He poured two cups of coffee and walked over to the table, handing you one before sitting down beside you.
"Here, I'll finish up the pancakes." Sam told Lily as he helped her off the counter and handed her Dean's plate.
She came over to the table and handed Dean the plate, very proud of the pancake that laid on the plate.
"Oh this looks good. Now this, is a pancake." He said as he nodded his head and Lily practically beamed with excitement as she climbed into a chair beside him.
Sam brought over the rest of the pancakes and sat down with you. Now that Lily was off pancake topping duty, everyone had to fend for themselves and their pancakes.
Life fell into an easy rhythm as the four of you settled into living together. Things went easy and sometimes they were a little hard, but your little family made it all work.
Summary: You're JJ's best friend and he loves you. He's protective of you so when he finds out your boyfriend is hurting you, he loses his shit.
You and JJ have been best friends for many years, and somewhere along the path, some lines had blurred for JJ. He loved you; dearly. But some of his complex feelings for you weren't simply platonic. They simply couldn't be platonic, not with the way his heart rate sped up when he saw you, the way his skin practically tingled at every little touch, not with the way he'd do anything for you.
For so long JJ wouldn't act on his feelings. He had too many fears at the thought of pursuing anything with you. Maybe you didn't feel the same way as him, maybe he'd ruin your entire friendship, maybe things wouldn't work out as he hoped.
When Pope finally talked JJ into admitting his feelings to you, it was already too late. There was already another guy. JJ had waited too long and now you were with someone else, oblivious to how much JJ really loved you.
At first Ryan seemed like the perfect guy. He was sweet and kind, always going the extra mile for you, bombarding you with love and gifts. But behind closed doors things quickly turned ugly. Your happy relationship now was nothing more than a façade you put up for your friends.
One night you had convinced Ryan to allow you to attend a party on the cut. Of course he insisted on going with you. He never let you wander too far away from him, and some suspicion grew in the group.
Kie was the first to speak up as she approached the boys. "I can't be the only one put off by Ryan." she mumbled softly as her brows furrowed, her arms wrapping tightly around herself.
"I'm sure JJ is." John B commented in a light tone of voice meant to tease the blonde boy. JJ rolled his eyes before sending John B a silent side-eyed glare.
"No, I'm being serious." Kie told them, her voice growing firmer as she looked between the three boys. "Something's wrong."
"What? They look fine to me." Pope replied with a shrug of his shoulders as he shot a quick glance in your direction, just as you were approaching. "Shit. Here she comes."
Everyone shifted, pretending to stand casually as they avoided looking directly at you.
"What's up?" You asked as you looked between the four of them, raising your eyebrows.
"Nothing." Pope replied quickly, shrugging his shoulders while shaking his head. "Nothing's up. Nada. What about you?"
Your eyes narrowed a little bit as you eyed Pope. "Nothing." You mumbled as your brows furrowed.
"How are things between you and Ryan?" Kie asked bluntly and all three of the boys shot her side eyed glances.
You diverted your gaze for a moment before looking back at Kie, offering her a forced smile. "Good. Really good." You replied in a tight voice as you nodded your head.
Almost like he had heard a mention of him and your relationship, Ryan appeared beside you. "Hey guys." He greeted and everyone mumbled half-hearted greetings as their gazes diverted from him.
Everyone's except JJ's. He practically glared at Ryan. He did not like the guy one bit. He was 100% on Kie's side, something was off with the guy and he didn't like how tense you got when Ryan was around. He also didn't like that Ryan always seemed to be around.
JJ's gaze shifted to you when you tensed as Ryan placed his hand on the small of your back. Your gaze diverted as you cooled your expression. You met JJ's eyes for a second before quickly looking away again.
"We should probably get going." Ryan suggested as he looked down at you.
You looked up at Ryan, stiffly nodding your head. "Yeah." You agreed softly before turning to your friends. "I'll see you guys around."
Kie stepped forward, wrapping her arms around you. "Are you okay?" She whispered in your ear.
"Bye Kie." You replied softly as you pulled back from her. She frowned at you when you didn't answer her question.
Ryan was in a tense mood when you arrived at his house. His parents weren't home, so he could be as loud and violent as he wanted to be.
"I don't like your friends." He informed you as he walked into the kitchen and rummaged through the fridge for a beer.
You stood silent as you stared at him, your arms crossed over your chest.
Ryan turned around as he cracked open his beer. "I'm talking to you." He muttered as his eyes found yours.
"What do you want me to say?" You asked him as you shrugged your shoulders.
He took a few big gulps of the beer, his eyes never leaving yours. And then with a huff, he threw the half empty beer can at you.
You cried out in surprise as you turned your head away. The can crashed against the wall, centimeters away from your face, beer splashing over you in the process.
"I want you to say that you'll stop fucking hanging out with them!" He yelled at you. "They're fucking losers Y/n!" He taunted as he walked towards you. "You want to be a loser just like them?"
"Screw you!" You snapped at him. "They're family to me." You defended your friends. "The only loser I see is the drunk standing in front of me-" you spoke, cut off by a sharp backhand to your cheek.
Your head snapped to the side, your cheek warm and burning from his hard backhand, your bottom lip split in the middle and bleeding.
You placed a trembling hand against your cheek, remaining quiet as Ryan stepped into your personal space.
"Say that again." He challenged you. You remained quiet and he took it as a sign of compliance.
Your phonea vibrated in your pocket and you pulled it out. "It's my mom." You lied softly as you stared down at the text from JJ.
-Are you good?-
"She wants me to come home." You told Ryan as you shoved your phone back into your pocket.
"Whatever." Ryan replied dismissively as he turned back to the fridge to grab another beer.
You turned around and walked out of the house, your pace fast just incase Ryan decided he wasn't done with you just yet. You pulled out your phone, ignoring JJ's text and calling Kie. She answered immediately. "Hey..." she greeted.
"Hey. Are you still with the guys?" You asked her softly as you walked down the dark gravel side walk.
"Yeah." Kie replied.
"Look...can you please come pick me up? But...don't bring them." You pleaded softly with her as you sniffed, your eyes pooling with tears.
"Of course." She agreed and you could hear her beginning to walk towards her car. "Where are you?"
"Ryan's." You mumbled softly as you sat down on the curb, pulling your knees up to your chest. "Please stay on the phone."
"Dude, you're worrying me. Did something happen?" Kie asked as she climbed into her car and started the engine.
"Kie..." You began but decided against it as you sighed softly. "We'll talk when you get here." You told her. You knew she would demand answers when she saw your face, and you couldn't lie anymore.
"You got that right." She confirmed in a serious tone of voice.
She pulled up to the curb a moment later and you ended the call before silently climbing into her passenger seat.
"What the fuck?" She whispered when she saw your red cheek and split lip. "Oh my God Y/n. Did Ryan do that?" She asked as she stared at you, her eyebrows furrowing.
"Yes." You whispered. "He gets angry and violent. A lot." You admitted softly as a tear rolled down your cheek.
"Y/n...why did you keep quiet? You know we'd help you, we'd be there for you. All of us." She told you, sending continuous glances your way as she drove to her house.
"I was embarrassed." You admitted softly as you sniffed, wiping away your tear as it settled in the corner of your mouth.
"You're not going back to him. Ever." She told you sternly. "I'm not letting him hurt you like this any longer." She continued as she shook her head firmly, both her mind and heart set with detirmination.
She let you stay with her for the night and took you with her to the Wreck the next morning. You were glad for the distraction as you sat at one of the tables, watching the people around you.
"Y/n, hey, glad I found you. Where's Kie?" Pope spoke from behind you.
You let out a startled gasped as you turned your head to look at him, surprised by his sudden appearance behind you.
Pope's eyes widened. "Holy shit." He commented when he saw your busted lip and bruised cheek. "What happened?" He asked as he sat down beside you.
"Ryan hit me." You admitted softly as you diverted your gaze. "Why are you looking for us?" You asked. The intent was clear, you did not want to talk about it.
"Well, John B wants everyone to meet at the Chateau. A Pogue meeting." Pope explained softly, his eyebrows furrowed deeply as his gaze lingered on your cheek.
"I'll tell Kie." You told him with a nod of your head.
Pope left to head back to the Chateau and you and Kie left an hour later when she managed to slip away.
You arrived at the Chateau and went inside to look for the boys. Loud voices came from the backyard and both you and Kie followed them.
"What do you mean he hit her?" John B questioned, his voice filled with concern and worry.
"I mean, he hit her." Pope clarified.
You sighed softly, looking towards Kie. She gave you a look of pity as she reached out and rubbed your arm. Of course Pope would tell the boys immediately.
"He hit her? He actually fucking hit her?" JJ questioned, his voice holding barley contianed anger.
"Her cheek is all bruised and her lip is busted." Pope informed the two boys.
"Motherfucker." JJ spat and there was a thud as he grabbed one of the folding chairs and threw it against a tree.
"Shut up. Shut up. Shh." John B shushed the boys when you and Kie stepped onto the back porch and then stepped outside, silently approaching them. John B's eyes widened when he saw your face, his lips parting.
JJ's gaze shifted too your face as well and he slowly shook his head, his jaw clenching and his fists bawling up by his sides. "I'm going to kill him." He spat.
"JJ." Kie tried cautioned him as she slowly shook her head.
"I'm fine." You whispered as you lowered your gaze. You weren't able to look any of them in the eye.
"That's a lie." John B stated as he shook his head.
"What happened?" JJ asked as he stepped closer to you, his gaze flicking between your cheek and your lip.
"Apparently you already know." You muttered softly as you send a quick side eyed glance at Pope.
"Sorry..." Pope apologized sheepishly as he diverted his gaze.
"Can we just...can we talk about something else?" You asked softly with a heavy sigh as you crossed your arms over your chest.
"Yeah. Yeah, let's talk about something else." Kie agreed with a nod of her head. She had seen the emotional toll it took on you to tell her everything the previous night. She knew you didn't want to exclude the boys by hiding anything from them, but it was too soon to go through the same discussion again.
"Something...Something else?" JJ scoffed in disbelief as he looked at Kie. "He hit her! Look at her face! We're supposed to act like that didn't fucking happen!?"
"Stop it!" Kie demanded as she shot a glare on JJ's direction. "We're not talking about it."
"Fine." JJ spat. "But like hell am I'm acting like it didn't happen." He muttered as he turned around and stormed into the direction of his bike.
Your eye's widened, recognizing the furious square of JJ's shoulders. He was on a war path and it was going to lead him straight to Ryan.
"JJ, stop." You pleaded as you rushed after him but he was already on his bike and kick starting it. "JJ!" You yelled after him as he sped off.
Kie came up behind you, placing a hand on your shoulder. "Let him." She urged softly. "That piece of shit deserves what he's going to get."
You didn't respond. It wasn't Ryan you worried about. It was JJ.
John B's meeting was forgotten and everyone went home. You stayed at the Chateau, sitting on the front porch as you waited for JJ.
When you heard his bike approaching, your heart clenched inside your chest. You got up and hesitantly stepped down from the porch, approaching him as his bike came to a stop on a small patch of dried grass.
His cheek was bruised, his lips busted, he had a cut on his upper cheek and on his eyebrow. But you knew, as bas as JJ looked, Ryan probably looked far worse.
"JJ..." You whispered as you came to a stop in front of him.
He lowered his gaze, his jaw clenching as he pursed his lips for a moment. "I couldn't just let him do that to you and leave it." He muttered softly.
You stepped closer, placing a hand against JJ's good cheek, forcing him to look at you. "Now you're hurt too..." you whispered, eyebrows furrowing as you looked at him.
"But you won't be ever again." He assured softly as he slowly shook his head again.
You let out a soft sigh, wrapping your arms around JJ's shoulders, resting your head in the crook of his neck.
His arms snakes around your waist, pulling you closer to his body. "I would do anything to protect you." He whispered as he buried his face in your hair.
You were a bit frozen for a moment. What have you been doing with Ryan all this time when you have JJ right there?
You pulled back a little, your hand coming up to JJ's face. "If you weren't hurt, I'd kiss you right now." You whispered, your thumb brushing against his lip, wary of the cut.
In turn, JJ's gaze turned to your own cut lip. "I still want to kiss you. I don't want to hurt you, but I really want to kiss you." He admitted softly.
"Maybe a small kiss?" You suggested softly.
JJ laughed softly, slowly nodding his head. "A small kiss." He agreed softly before leaning forward, placing the softest and most gentle kiss against your lips.
Your heart practically stopped for a moment. Despite the sting of your own cut, and the roughness of JJ's cut lip against your own, the kiss was sweet and the best you've ever had. Not because JJ was some amazing kisser, which he still was, but simply because it was him kissing you.
You kissed back, and despite being the more cautious one, your lips searched for more and JJ pulled back. You frowned, eyebrows furrowing as you looked up at him.
"I don't want to hurt you." He whispered as he shook his head. "When you're better, I'll kiss you again. And again. And again." He assured.
"Just one more?" You asked softly.
He stared at you for a moment, a small smile tugging at his lip. "Just one more." He agreed as one of his hands came up to cradle the back of your head, pulling you in for another gentle kiss.
Summary: It's been six years since Dean and Sam worked a case in Toledo Ohio. Six years since Dean met you, saved you from a curse, and spend three nights with you. Now they were back in Toledo for a case with a little surprise waiting for Dean, with bright green eyes and a cute little smile.
You sat in your small town diner, eating pancakes. Every Saturday morning, you sat in the same booth, eating the same chocolate pancakes. It was a ritual you and your little girl followed strictly each week. You never missed a Saturday.
Lily sat opposite you, a little bit of chocolate on one corner of her mouth and a little bit of cream on the other corner of her mouth.
"Pancakes good?" You asked her with a small smile and she nodded enthusiastically, shoving a fork full of pancake into her mouth. "Smaller bites, baby." You urged.
"I'm hungry." She told you, voice slightly muffled by the food in her mouth.
"You had cereal when you woke up." You reminded her as you quirked an eyebrow.
She pouted. "I know." She mumbled softly, shoving another mouthful of food into her mouth and you couldn't help but laugh softly. After she swallowed her food, she shifted uncomfortably. "Mommy I have to pee."
"Need me to come with you?" You asked her softly as you raised your eyebrows.
"No. I'm okay." She said as she slid out of the booth. "Don't eat my pancakes." She warned you with a pouty lip.
"I won't." You assured her as you shook your head, a small grin tugging at your lips. You looked over your shoulder, watching her go safely into the bathroom.
Carol, the waitress, came over with a pot of coffee. "Refill hun?" The older woman asked with a small smile.
You looked at her, nodding as you offered her a smile. "Please, Carol." You confirmed.
"How's Lily doing with school?" She asked you curiously as she refilled your cup. She knew it was Lily's first year of school and she was always caring when it came to you and the little girl.
"She's doing so good. And she's making new friends everyday." You replied with a proud smile. "I'll bring over some of the drawings she's made in class."
"Oh that would be lovely, hun." She said as she patted your shoulder before turning away when the bell above the door rang.
Your attention turned to your coffe, taking a few sips as you looked out at the window, watching the cars that drove past.
"Agent Page and Plant, with the FBI." A deep gruff voice spoke from the counter.
You tensed. You recognized that voice and you recognized those names. Your gaze flicked around the window, landing on the black Chevrolet Impala parked on the side of the road. As spotless and beautiful as you remember it.
Your gaze shifted to the counter where Carol spoke with the two familiar men. They were a little older and more gruff, looking more weary and Sam's hair had gotten longer.
You swallowed hard, sinking back into your seat, trying your best to blend in and hope they wouldn't notice you. Your throat ached as a lump formed and your eyes burned with unshed tears.
When the two men finished talking to Carol, they turned around to grab a booth. Both somewhat froze for a moment when they saw you sitting there, sunk down in your seat with your face slightly turned away.
"Y/n?" Dean called out, his eyebrows furrowing as he hesitantly stepped closer to your booth. You didn't turn your head, pretending not to have heard him at first. "Is that you?"
You turned your head, raising your eyebrows in feigned surprise. "Dean?" You questioned as your lips parted. "Sam?"
"Hey." Sam greeted with a small smile. "It's been...it's been a while."
"Yeah...little over six years now." You mumbled softly with a nod of your head. You slid out of the booth and stood up, facing the two men. "So, what brings you back here?" You asked as you crossed your arms over your chest.
"Oh you know, the usual. Dead bodies." Dean replied, giving you a slow once over. "You look good." He commented as a small smile tugged at his lips.
"Yeah, you too." You replied softly as you returned his smile, wrapping your arms over your chest. "So is your case anything I should be worried about?" You asked, desperately wanting to change the subject.
"Nah, unless you have a kid." Sam replied with a shrug of his shoulders.
Your gaze shot towards him as your eyes widened. "W-what?" You asked as your heart clenched painfully in your chest. "Why do you say that?"
"Well we're not sure what we're dealing with, but it targets kids. Drowns them." Dean explained.
You swallowed hard, your gaze diverting towards the bathrooms for a brief moment. The two brothers shared a concerned look between one another when they saw your expression.
Lily came bouncing out of the bathroom, her brown hair tied into pigtails, swinging around. "Mommy." She called out as she came to a stop beside you, her green eyes flicking towards the two brothers. "Who are you?" She asked them.
"Sweetheart, these are some old friends of mommy's." You explained as you gently placed your hand against the back of her head.
"Mommy?" Dean repeated as he looked from Lily towards you, his eyebrows furrowing.
"Yeah..." You replied softly as you hesitantly met Dean's gaze, your lips pursing while you ushered Lily back into her seat.
"So ummm...I guess you do have something to worry about." Sam commented softly as he looked at you with concern in his eyes.
Dean didn't react to what Sam said. His eyes were drawn to Lily. He silently stared at the little girl, silently observing her familiar features. It left an ache in his chest.
"How old is she?" Dean questioned as he pointed in Lily's direction, quirking an eyebrow at you.
You looked at Dean for a moment before turning to Sam. "Is this thing going to come after my daughter?" you questioned him and Dean scowled as you ignored his question.
"We can't be sure for certain. It doesn't really follow a pattern. Just snatches any kid they can." Sam explained, sending a wary glance between you and Dean.
You pulled a few dollars out of your pocket and placed it on the table. "Lily, we have to get going." you urged your daughter.
"But my pancakes." She whined as you took her hand and pulled her out of the booth.
"We'll get some more another day." You assured as you dragged her out of the diner, sending a half-hearted wave at Carol behind the counter.
Two heavy sets of footsteps followed after you, one faster than the other. "Why won't you answer me?" Dean called out, hot on your tail as he followed you to the parking lot.
You spun to face him. "I'm not having this conversation in front of my daughter." You snapped at him through gritted teeth as you gave him a firm shake of your head.
"Y/n, maybe we should take you two somewhere we can keep you safe. In case something does happen." Sam suggested, his tone far more gentle and softer than his brother's.
You agreed, reluctantly. But if a few awkward and uncomfortable hours with Dean meant your daughter was safe, then you'd simply have to put on your brave face and follow along.
Lily sat on one of the twin beds in Sam and Dean's motel room. She was perched on the edge, her eyes drawn to the cartoons displayed on the small tv in front of her.
You stood by the window, staring out. Sam had left to gather information, to hopefully catch a lead on what was targeting kids in the town.
Your stomach was knotted. You had heard about the kids drowning, it had been in the paper. But never had you imagined it would be something that needed attention from the Winchester brother's.
Dean entered the motel room with a brown paper bag. "Got some food." he called out as he closed the door behind him.
Lily jumped up from the bed and practically stormed towards Dean. "Did you remember my nuggets?" She asked as she took the bag from him.
"Yes, you did remind me." Dean clarified as he let her take the bag.
"Thank you." She said with a sweet smile as she stared up at him.
"You're welcome kid." Dean replied, returning her soft smile as he stared down at her. His brows furrowed a little as he watched her return to the bed with the bag of food. He stared a moment longer before looking at you. "Cute kid."
"Yeah. I got lucky with her, she's really amazing. No tantrums, always happy to help." You commented softly, sending your daughter a gentle smile over your shoulder.
"You never answered my question...about how old she is." Dean commented as his gaze remained on you.
You sighed softly as you lowered your gaze. "She's six, Dean." You whispered as you ran a hand over your mouth.
He slowly nodded his head to the truth he already knew. "Is she mine?" he asked softly as his eyes grew glossy and reddish.
You remained silently frozen for a moment before hesitantly looking at Dean. "Yes..." You whispered as you slowly nodded your head. "I tried reaching out to you but your number didn't work anymore."
"I had to ditch it." he whispered as he lowered his head. "If I had known..."
"I stopped trying eventually, figured maybe you didn't want to know." You mumbled softly as you sniffed. "I was so angry for so long. I hated you."
"Good. You should." He agreed with a nod of his head. "What...what have you told her about me?" he asked hesitantly, for a moment expecting to hear the absolute worse. And he'd deserve it.
"That you're a hero who saves people. And people far away needs you, that's why you're not around." You explained softly as you wrapped your arms around yourself. "She's been really curious about you."
"I can't be in her life. I'm dangerous to be around, you know that." Dean whispered as he diverted his teary gaze.
"Mommy, why do we have to stay here?" Lily asked from the edge of the bed as she looked over at you with a frown on her little face.
You turned away from Dean and looked over at your little girl. "Well there's something... dangerous outside and well the nice men are making sure we're safe." You explained gently as you offered her a smile.
"Are we going to get hurt?" She asked softly as her frown grew.
"No baby. We're going to be perfectly fine." You assured as you sat down beside her. "These nice men are going to take good care of us." You whispered as you placed a gentle hand on her head.
"Hey, I won't let anything happen to you or your mom." Dean assured her as he hesitantly approached.
Lily looked up towards you. "Is he a hero like my daddy?" She asked softly as she raised her eyebrows.
You silently stared at her for a moment before slowly nodding your head. "Yeah..." You whispered.
Lily looked at Dean. "My mommy says my daddy saves people." She informed him with a little proud smile spreading across her lips. "He even saved her once."
Dean slowly nodded, a stray tear running down his cheek. "Your daddy sounds...like a good man." he commented softly. His phone rang and he was thankful for the distraction as he turned around to answer it. "Sam?" He answered. "Are you sure?" he asked. "Yeah okay." he replied before ending the call.
You kissed the top of Lily's head before standing up and approaching Dean. "Does he have something?" You asked softly as you crossed your arms over your chest.
"Seems like we're dealing with a spirit." Dean replied with a soft sigh as he ran a hand over his face. "La llorona, to be specific." he clarified.
"She's not just a myth?" You asked as your eyebrows furrowed.
"No." Dean replied with a shake of his head. He went over to one of his bags and pulled out a large bottle of salt, pouring lines in front of the door and windows. "This isn't exactly the La llorona. Just a vengeful spirit who drowned her children when she was still alive."
"What's that?" Lily asked curiously as she watched Dean with raised eyebrows, nibbling on a nugget.
Dean slowly turned to face her, pausing for a moment. He didn't think she'd question his stranger behaviour. "Oh, ummm. Salt." He replied as he slowly nodded his head.
"Why?" Lily asked as her head tilted to the side a bit. Before Dean could respond, Lily glanced at you. "Is he a weirdo?" She asked as she raised her eyebrows.
"Just a little bit." You replied teasingly as you held up your thumb and pointer finger to emphasis little.
"Hey." Dean complained as he looked at you with a scowl. Lily giggled softly and Dean's scowl turned to her.
That night you were sound asleep with Lily cuddled up beside you. Sam was out trying to pin point who the La llorona spirit was and where she was buried. Dean was sitting in the motel room, scrolling through Sam's computer as he tried to find something to help while also keeping an eye on you and Lily.
After a few hours of staring at the bright screen in the dark room and drinking beer, he needed a break. With a soft groan Dean ran a hand over his face before getting up and stumbling his way into the bathroom, closing the door behind him.
There was a soft, barely audible creak in the room as one of the windows pushed open. Lily's eyes fluttered open, her brows furrowing as she looked to the noisy window.
When she saw the tall, pale woman with long black hair standing by the window, crying softly, she sat up. "What's wrong?" Lily whispered.
The woman didn't respond, but Lily seemed to understand what she wanted. The little girl climbed out of the bed, standing by the edge. She glanced at you, a little pout tugging at her face.
She looked back at the woman. "I want to stay with my mommy." She told the woman, tears pricking at her eyes. "No, don't be sad." She begged as the woman began crying harder.
She send a hesitant glance back at you, letting out a soft whimper before walking over to the door, opening it. As a result, the salt line was broken and the woman reached into the room, grabbing Lily's arm.
"Mommy!" Lily cried out as the woman dragged her out of the room.
Your eyes shot open and you immediately sat up. "Lily!" You screamed in horror when you saw the pale woman taking your daughter from the room.
The bathroom door slammed open and Dean rushed out, holding his gun ready to fire. "What happened?" He asked as his eyes franticly shot around the room.
"She has Lily! She has our daughter!" You cried frantically as you ran out of the motel room.
The Impala pulled into the parking lot and Sam climbed out just as you and Dean rushed out of the motel room. "What happened?" Sam yelled as he rushed over.
"That bitch took Lily!" Dean yelled as he looked around the parking lot for any sign of the little girl. His little girl. He'd be dammed if he let anything happen to her before he could even get to know her. "Did you find anything?"
"I think I know where she's buried." Sam replied with a nod of his head. He looked towards you. "Where's the nearest body of water?"
"There's a lake less than a mile from here." You told them, tears running down you cheeks.
"Go burn the bitch." Dean instructed Sam while grabbing a shotgun from the trunk of the Impala before urging you to lead the way to the lake.
When you and Dean arrived at the lake, the pale woman stood ankle deep in the water, holding tightly onto Lily's hand, urging her deeper into the water. The little girl was crying and struggling against the woman.
"Lily!" You cried out as you ran towards your little girl, but Dean grabbed your arm and urged you to stay back.
He got closer to the water, while raising the shotgun and firing salt rocks at the woman. She disappeared with a screeching sound that filled the air. He bend down, holding an arm out towards Lily. "Come on Sweetheart. Come on." he urged.
Lily ran to Dean and he scooped her into his arm, holding her on his waist as he rushed back towards you. You reached for you daughter but before you could take her, you were knocked back by an invisible force, grunting as you hit the ground, the air knocked out of your lungs.
Dean turned, pointing the shotgun one handed at the woman as she appeared before him but she knocked it out of his hands before grabbing for Lily.
"I don't think so." He grunted as he grabbed the iron chain around his neck and yanked it off before hitting the woman with it and she disappeared again.
He grabbed his shotgun and rushed towards you as you sat up. He pushed Lily and his iron chain towards you. "Run." he ordered.
"Dean!" You yelled when the woman appeared behind Dean and without touching him, she send him flying to the side where he slammed hard into the ground.
You grabbed Lily, pulling her protectively against your body as the woman stomped closer to you. "Mommy." Lily whimpered as she buried her face into your chest.
You flinched when the woman screeched, her entire body catching on fire. You placed a hand over Lily's eyes so that she wouldn't see what was happening. You let out a soft whimper as the woman disappeared in a pile of ashes.
Dean got up, shaking his head to get rid of the ringing in his ears. He rushed to you and Lily, kneeling beside you. "You okay?" He asked as he brushed you messy hair out of your face before turning to the little girl in you arms.
You nodded you head as you looked up at him with tears in your eyes. Lily sniffed as she lifted her head. "Is it over?" She asked softly as she looked around.
"Yeah. It's over kid." He assured softly as he reached out to gently and awkwardly pat her head. "It's all over now."
Lily pulled away from you and wrapped her arms around Dean's broad shoulders, laying her head against his chest. "You're a hero just like my daddy." She told him.
Dean hesitated for a moment before wrapped his arms around Lily, hugging her small body tightly as he closer his chest, his eyes growing teary.
When the three of you made your way back to the motel room, Dean carried the tired little girl as she dozed off in his arms.
"So what happens now?" You asked softly as you looked at him with furrowed eyebrows.
"I thought I would be able to walk away after all this was over. But I don't think I can." Dean admitted softly as he shook his head.
"You don't have to." You reasoned softly as you looked up at him.
"You'll both be in danger with me, Y/N." He reasoned as he looked down at you.
"I've been cursed before and she was targeted by a vengeful spirit. Neither had anything to do with you but you were the one who saved us." You replied as you approached the motel room.
You pulled open the door and Dean carefully walked in, laying the sleeping girl down on the bed. You sat down by the table and Dean joined you a moment later.
"It's all up to you." You assured him softly. "You get to decide what happens next."
Dean thought for a moment before clearing his throat. His need to keep you and Lily close and safe, was far bigger than his need to keep you and Lily safe and far away.
"Maybe I could visit sometimes." he suggested as she scratched the back of his neck. "Me and Sammy, we live kinda far now. Kansas actually."
You shifted. Thirteen hours away, give or take. "I don't have much keeping me here..." You mumbled softly, hesitantly looking at him. "We could move closer."
"You'd do that for me?" Dean asked as his eyebrows furrowed.
"I'd do it for her." You clarified as you glanced back at your little girl. You looked back at him, noting the way he was silently staring at Lily. "Do you want to officially meet her? As her dad?"
He stared at her a little while longer, his eyes growing teary and red again as he slowly nodded his head. "Yeah. I'd like that." He agreed softly.
The following morning, you took Lily to the diner to make up for the missing pancakes the previous day. Dean joined the two of you.
You and Dean sat on one side of the booth and Lily sat on the other side. In that moment, as both of them stuffed themselves with chocolate chip pancakes, arguing about the syrup that was on the table, you had absolutely no doubt Lily was Dean's kid.
"Don't take all of it." Dean complained as Lily poured more syrup on her pancakes.
"You've already had some." Lily complained back as she pouted at Dean.
You pursed your lips as you looked between the two of them. You shifted in your seat and cleared you throat. "Baby, we want to talk to you about something." you began and Dean quickly lost his appetite due to nerves.
"About what?" Lily asked curiously as she raised her eyebrows.
"Well baby, I told you, your daddy's not around because he's a hero who helps a lot of people." I told her softly. "He saves them from very bad things." You added as you crossed your arms on top of the table. You hesitated for a moment, not really sure how to approach this with Lily. "Well baby, Dean is your dad."
Lily looked at Dean. "You're my daddy?" She asked softly as her eyebrows furrowed.
He slowly nodded his head. "Y-yeah." He stuttered, clearing his throat before trying again. "Yeah. I am." he confirmed softly.
Her eyes widened. "My daddy fights ghosts?" She gasped as stared at Dean with surprise and child like excitement in her eyes.
"Among other-" Dean began, a proud smirk tugging at his lips as he began nodded his head.
"Don't elaborate." You stopped him as you reached out and placed a hand on his arm. You didn't want him telling Lily about demons and vampires and monsters bursting out of the closet.
"Right." Dean agreed as he cleared his throat. He looked back at Lily. "Yeah, I fights ghosts. They're pretty scared of me and my brother." He informed her. "You know what that means?"
"What?" Lily asked softly as she leaned closer like she was about to hear a state secret.
"It means no ghost will ever mess with your or your mom ever again." He assured her softly.
Lily giggled excitedly as she looked over at you, her smile growing. You returned her smile as you rested your chin on you hand. Lily turned to Dean, her little brain working over time to figure out what she wanted to ask him first.
"Are you going to stay?" She asked Dean as she sat up on her knees.
"I'm going to be around a lot more." He assured her as he nodded his head. "But me and your uncle Sam, we still have to save some people from time to time."
"I have an uncle!" Lily squealed softly in excitement as a grin spread across her lips and she looked back at you again. Your smile grew as your little girl got so happy and excited.
After breakfast, you Dean and Lily went for a walk through the park. Lily held her dad's hand, licking the vanilla ice cream he had bought for her. He told her a few child friendly version stories of the people he and Sam had saved.
Sam arrived with the Impala, hands shoved in his jacket pockets as he approached the three of you with a small smile. Lily let go of Dean's hand and approached Sam, her head tilted back as she looked up at him. "You're my uncle." She informed him.
Sam chuckled softly, bending down to be more eye level with the little girl. "Yeah I am." he confirmed.
She attacked him with a hug, some ice cream smearing across his shoulder. He hugged her back, placing a gentle large hand against the back of her head.
When Lily pulled back, she grabbed Dean's hand, tugging him along. "Come push me." She urged as she dragged him towards the swings and he smiled softly as he followed her.
You crossed your arms over your chest, watching Dean push Lily's on the swing, a small smile crossing your lips.
Summary: Daryl comes across you and your daughter and stays with you for a while. He grows close to you and your little girl, and when men come to your cabin, he protects you like you're his own.
You lived in a small three bedroom cabin, that was situated far in the woods, just on the lake. It was far from town, in a quiet and safe area. Not many people or walkers stumbled upon it.
You have wires with pots and pans surrounding the house, a few sharp pipes sticking out of the ground to capture the dead trying to stumble too close to the house. You have a few bear traps further around the woods too, and snare traps.
Your little girl, Macie, is ten years old and already handy with a gun. It was just you and her and you had no choice but to teach the little girl how to shoot.
"Mommy." She called out as she walked into the kitchen.
You were standing by the table, cutting up carrots for the stew you were making. You looked up at her, eyebrows furrowing. "What is it?" You asked, sensing by her wary expression, that something was wrong.
"There's a man outside." She informed you and your body tensed up. "I think he's hurt." She told you.
You dropped the knife in your hand and grabbed your shotgun. "Go to your room, close the door." You ordered her.
You walked out of the kitchen and carefully stepped out onto the front porch. There was a man on the front lawn, kneeling as he clutched his stomach. His sleeveless vest was covered in blood, and so was his gruff-looking face.
"What are you doing here?" You called out to him as you pointed your gun at him through the screen door.
"You gonna shoot, shoot." He gruffly challenged you.
"You bit?" You asked him as your eyes narrowed.
"Shot." He corrected you as he pushed himself up onto his trembling legs, his eyes flicking over to you behind the screen door.
"How'd you find this place?" You questioned him as you raised your eyebrows.
"Stumbled across it, searching for a place to hunker down." He explained simply as he stared at you. "Ain't here to hurt you or your lil' girl." He assured.
Your eyebrows furrowed. How did he know? You huffed softly and looked over your shoulder, seeing Macie standing in the doorway.
"I told you to go to your room." You reminded her sternly as your eyes narrowed a little.
"We have to help him." Macie insisted softly as she gave you pleading eyes.
You stared at her for a moment before sighing, turning back to the man. "You're not bit?" You asked him again.
"No." He responded as he stared back at you.
"What's your name?" You questioned as you opened the screen door and carefully stepped outside with your gun still pointed at him.
"Daryl." He replied, keeping his gaze sharply on you as you approached him. He looked as cautious as you did, but he didn't look scared of the gun on him.
"I'm Y/n." You told him. "I'll help with your wound, give you some food, and a bed for the night. Any funny business and I will shoot you." You warned him.
"Alright." He replied as he nodded his head in understanding.
You took Daryl inside and sent Lily to her room. To ease you, Daryl took off all his weapons and laid them on the table near the door.
You gathered a bowl of warm water and the first aid kit. "Show me." You demanded as you sat beside him, placing the bowl and the kit on the coffee table.
"You always this demanding?" He grunted as he carefully lifted his shirt, showing you the wound on his lower stomach.
"I can see the bullet, means it's not that deep." You commented softly, carefully wiping off the blood around the wound.
He hissed. "You ain't know to be gentle?" He questioned in a huffy voice as he scowled at you.
"Want me to leave you like this?" You questioned him as you raised your eyebrows. He huffed but turned his head, letting you go about helping him.
"You two alone out here?" He asked with his eyebrows furrowing. You looked at him, but didn't answer. "Dangerous to be alone now. Especially a woman and a little girl."
"We've been lucky not to be bothered until now." You replied as you shook your head. You grabbed the rubbing alcohol. "It's gonna hurt." You warned before pouring some of the rubbing alcohol over the wound.
Daryl groaned in pain, clenching his teeth together as his body tensed up. You began to carefully dig the bullet out. Lucky for Daryl, you didn't have to dig deep.
"You ain't being very gentle." He grunted as he scowled at you when you pulled out the bullet.
"You're really taking this like a man." You commented sarcastically as you cleaned the wound again.
"This always helps when I'm hurt." Macie's voice piped up as she approached, avoiding your stern scowl. She held her hand out to Daryl, a piece of candy lying on her palm.
"You got some magical candy there?" He asked as he raised his eyebrows at her while taking the piece of candy from her palm.
"No, it's just normal candy." She told him dryly as she quirked an eyebrow.
Daryl stared at Macie for a moment before looking at you. "I can see the resemblance." He commented dryly as his eyes narrowed a little.
You gave him a blank look, rolling your eyes a little. "This is going to hurt, princess." You cautioned him as you started putting in stitches and he winced a little.
"Imagine her brushing your hair." Macie told him as she shook her head. "It's worse." She said as he scoffed in amusement.
You finished stitching him up and wrapped his wound with bandages.
Afterwards he was sitting in the kitchen, watching you as you finished the stew. "How long have you been out here for?" He asked curiously.
"Since the beginning." You replied as you stirred the pot of food. "This was my dad's cabin. We came out here when everything started getting really bad."
"Where's her dad?" He asked curiously as he nodded toward Macie who was drawing in the living room.
"Dead." You replied softly as you pursed your lips. "Died when she was still a baby." You added softly. You looked at him, eyes narrowing. "How'd you end up with a bullet in you?"
"Ran into some people in town." He explained gruffly. "Wasn't very friendly or welcoming." He added with a soft huff, eating the candy Macie had given him.
"They follow you here?" You asked him as a frown tugged at your lips.
"Nah, covered my tracks." He replied as he shook his head. "Food ain't ready yet?" He huffed softly as he raised his eyebrows at you.
"Do you always complain so much?" You asked him curiously as you raised your eyebrows at him. He held his hands up defense.
You looked down at your pot and huffed softly. "Foods ready." You mumbled softly as you pursed your lips again.
You dished three bowls of stew and the three of you sat down at the dining table to eat.
"Are you going to stay here with us?" Macie asked Daryl curiously as she ate her food.
"I'm leaving in the morning," Daryl told her softly.
"You won't be fit to travel. You should stay until your wound is better." You suggested as you looked at him with a slight furrow in your brows.
He grunted softly as he raised his eyebrows at you. "I don't wanna overstay my welcome." He mumbled softly as he shook his head.
"I can't send you out there like that." You replied with a shake of your head as you nodded towards him, referring to his wound.
He stared a moment before nodding in agreement to stay a while longer. He began eating and you silently watched as he scarf the food down.
"There's more if you'd like?" You questioned softly, watching with slightly furrowed eyebrows as he ate.
He grunted in response as he nodded his head. You silently got up and grabbed the entire pot, placing it beside his plate.
The following morning, as you walked onto the back porch with a basket of wet laundry, you eyed Daryl as he smoked a cigarette.
"Pretty sure those are as unhealthy as they were before." You informed him as you rested the basket on your hip.
He looked at you, raising his eyebrows. "Getting shot wasn't any healthy for me either." He replied with his usual sassy tone of voice..
"Well, it's bad enough I have to worry about protecting my daughter from dead and living people, can't be worried about protecting her from second hand smoke too." You told him as you reached out and took the cigarette right out from between his lips, threw it on the ground and stomped it out.
"I was busy with that." He said sharply as he looked up at you through narrowed eyes.
"And now you're not." You replied as you stepped outside and hanged the clothes up on the wash line. Daryl got up after a moment and followed you outside, watching you. You looked at him. "Not gonna offer to help?"
"Those are your panties, not mine." He replied as he nodded at your white panties that laid in the basket.
You huffed, throwing a shirt over the panties to hide them. "You bring yours, I'll wash them too." You teased as you looked over at him.
"Yeah, I bet you'd like to see them." He teased back as he raised his eyebrows and you laughed softly in response.
Two weeks passed, and Daryl was still around. You had grown used to his presence and found comfort in having him around. He had gotten close with Macie, and both you and Daryl had begun to realize how crushed the little girl would be if Daryl had to leave.
One morning, you stepped out onto the back porch, eyes narrowing at Daryl. "What did I tell you about the cigarettes?" You questioned him.
"It's just one." He mumbled with the cigarette between his lips before turning his head to look up at you.
"You're stinking up my porch." You told him as you waved your hand through the air to get rid of the smoke surrounding you.
He scoffed softly but stumped out his cigarette nonetheless. "Where's Macie?" He asked curiously as he raised his eyebrows.
"Reading in her bedroom." You replied as you crossed your arms over your chest. "She's been asking when you're taking her for more practice."
"She tell you she lost two of my arrows last time?" He grunted as he narrowed his eyes. "Still owes me for them."
"Yeah she said something about making you cupcakes." You mused softly as you shrugged your shoulders.
He grunted in response. "I'll make my decision based on the kind she bakes." He mumbled with no seriousness to his voice. He shifted in his seat, clearing his throat a little. "You get many wild life out here?"
"Yeah there's plenty of deer." You confirmed with a nod of your head.
"I'ma go hunting later, see what I can bring back for dinner." He informed you as he stood up.
"Bring back something good." You told him as you uncrossed your arms and rested your hands on your hips.
"Anything should be better than another night of vegetable stew." He commented as he raised his eyebrows teasingly at you.
"Haven't heard you complaining yet." You challenged as you crossed your arms over your chest again. "Actually, you're the one who finishes the pot every night." You reminded him.
"Didn't want you to feel bad." He explained with a shrug of his shoulders before lightly bumping your arm with his as you laughed softly in response.
Daryl went off an hour later and you stayed in the house with Macie. You were keeping yourself busy by knitting a blanket while Macie built a puzzle on the floor.
"Mommy, I think someone's outside." Macie commented as she sat up on her knees to peer out the window into the front yard.
"Daryl must be back." You replied as you set your yarn aside on the couch.
"Mommy, I don't think it's Daryl." Macie warned as she stood up, a look of fear crossing her face, stumbling back as she stared at the window.
You stood up, your eyes shooting towards the window as your brows furrowed. Your face fell when you saw three men creeping out from the woods, guns drawn as they eyed the cabin.
All three of the men were burly. Two white and one Mexican. One of the white men had long dirty blond hair and the other had a buzz cut while the Mexican man had short black hair.
"Go to your room. Now." You instructed your daughter as you grabbed your shotgun. "Lock the door and do not come out!"
"Mommy, I'm scared." Macie said softly, hesitant to go to the bedroom and leave you alone.
You bend down and brushed her hair out of her face. "It's okay baby. It's going to be okay." You assured her softly, brushing a thumb over her cheek. "But you have to go hide."
"We know you're in there!" One of the white men called out, the one with blonde hair. His voice was rough and angry, on the verge of snapping. "No one has to get hurt! We just want the archer!"
You clenched your jaw as you approached one of the windows that was opened ajar, nudging the barrel of your gun through the small opening without exposing yourself to the men. "He's not here!" you yelled back.
"Well then whose pants are hanging on the clothes lines?" Another one of the men called out, the Mexican one, and you squeezed your eyes shut in response.
"We ain't leaving until we have him." The first man called out as he cocked his gun.
"Even if we have to hurt you." The third man warned.
One of them, the Mexican one, cried out as an arrow was shot through his stomach and he collapsed onto the floor. You peered out of the window, watching as he cradled his bleeding stomach while the other two men glanced around with wide eyes.
"Well then you ain't fucking leaving alive." Daryl spoke up as he slowly stalked out of the tree lines, his crossbow pointing towards the two men.
"We won't hurt her. We just want you." The blonde one demanded as he took a threatening step closer to Daryl.
You pulled away from the window and stepped out onto the front porch, pointing your gun at the men.
"Go back inside!" Daryl yelled at you and the blonde man turrned to the house, drawing his gun on you.
You gasped, eyes widening when Daryl shot an arrow through the blonde guy's head before turning to the last man standing, shooting an arrow through his head before he even had a chance to react.
Daryl turned to the Mexican guy and shot an arrow through his head as well before tossing his crossbow onto the ground and approaching you with fast steps.
"You alright?" he called out as his eyes skimmed over you.
You let out a soft breath, putting your gun down before rushing towards him. He grunted as he caught you in his arms, pulling you closer to his muscular body, one hand pushing it's way into your hair as he held the back of your head.
"Are you alright?" He asked again as he pulled your head slightly back to get a look at your face. You stared up at him, letting out a soft breath as you nodded your head. "Where's Macie?"
"Bedroom." You whispered.
Daryl pulled away from you and you followed him into the house. Macie was hiding underneath her bed, clutching a stuff animal as she attempted to cry softly.
"Come on out sweetheart. You're alright." Daryl coaxed as he carefully helped her out underneath the bed.
You fell to your knees beside Daryl and pulled your little girl into your arms, running a comforting hand through her hair as she practically melted into your arms. "It's okay." You whispered.
"Are the bad men gone?" Macie asked softly, her eyes drifting towards Daryl.
"They're gone." He assured as he reached out and placed a gentle hand on the back of her head. "They won't hurt you or your mom. No one will, ever."
"How do you know?" She asked him softly as her head rested against your shoulder.
"Because I won't let them." He assured her as he slowly shook his head.
"Pinky promise?" She asked as she reached out her tiny hand, holding up her little pinky towards Daryl.
"I promise." He whispered as he reached out, hooking his pinky with Macie's.
Daryl took care of the bodies, burying them far in the woods before Macie could see them, he also managed to bring a deer home, skinned and cleaned it before making dinner for everybody and while you were putting Macie to sleep, he was cleaning the dishes.
You slowly approached him in the kitchen, lingering by the doorway. "So are you staying?" You asked softly as you crossed your arms over your chest.
He glanced at you over his shoulder. "Would you be alright with it if I did?" he asked.
"Yes." You admitted softly as you nodded your head. "Do you want to stay?" You asked as you raised your eyebrows.
"I want to." he confirmed as he put down the wash cloth and turned to face you, struggling to maintain eye contact with you as his gaze lowered.
"Good. Because I really want you to stay." You told him as you walked over to him, cupped his cheeks and kissed him softly.
Daryl didn't respond at first and for a moment you feared you had just made a terrible mistake. But then shyly at first, his lips moved against yours, softly kissing you back.
You pulled back and slipped your hands down to his chest. "If I do see one more cigarette, we will have problems." You informed him as you patted his chest.
He grunted softly in response as he quirked an eyebrow at you. "Fine." He agreed softly and you smiled in response as you stared up at him.
He leaned down, hesitating for a moment before brushing a soft kiss to your forehead. "Is Macie alright?" he asked softly as he pulled away from you.
"She was a little scared to go to sleep but I think she'll be okay." You replied with a soft sigh as you began drying the dishes that Daryl had washed.
"You got a tough little girl." He assured as he glanced at you. "She'll be just fine."
You looked up at him, smiling softly as you slowly nodded your head in agreement. He looked back at you again and you silently stared at each other for a moment before Daryl leaned down, pressing another gentle kiss to your lips.
"You getting sweet on me?" You asked softly, smiling against his lips as you cupped his cheek, his stubble scratching against your palm.
"Shut up." He huffed with a roll of his eyes, growing a bit shy as he returned to washing the dishes while you softly laughed at the adorable look on his face.
In that moment, you felt happy and you felt safe. And no way in hell were you letting this man go.

Summary: You have two kids and Rick has two kids and together you make a fifth kid for your little blended family.
You have two daughters. Rylie is twelve and Ellie is seven. Their father hasn't been in the picture since you got pregnant with Ellie, long before the world even ended. You didn't know where he was now, but you knew your daughters were better off with him gone.
You have been with the group ever since Atlanta. You were with the group that crossed paths with Rick Grimes in the city and reunited him with his family. You were at the farm where Rick found out about Lori and Shane, you were there to comfort him through those moments. You were there to open Rick's eyes to how dangerous and unstable Shane had become.
You were there when the group turned against Rick for hiding that everyone was infected, and you were there for him when Lori turned against him for killing Shane. You were also there for him when Lori died.
You were there for his children. You didn't just look after your girls, but after Judith and Carl as well.
Now at Alexandria, you still stood dutifully beside Rick, backing him every step of the way.
Your day to day live in Alexandria consisted of training the people that lived there to handle weapons, and taking care of your children. All four of them.
As of recently, you weren't exactly allowed to do anything too dangerous around Alexandria. No runs, no going outside the walls.
It was driving you a little crazy. Rick was driving you a little crazy.
"What are you doing up there?" His voice called out.
You squeezed your eyes shut and let out a soft huff. You knew he was talking to you. You peered over the side of the watch tower. "Keeping watch." You replied.
Rick huffed softly, diverting his gaze in annoyance for a moment. He rested a hand on his hip as he looked up at you. "Come down from there."
"This is arguably the safest place for me to be. Walkers come in here, they can't climb up here." You reasoned with Rick as you leaned against the side of the watch tower.
"Except you will be the first to be spotted if people roll up outside these walls." He reasoned as he stared up at you through narrowed eyes. "Come down please."
You huffed softly, rolling your eyes before taking steady steps down the ladder. You turned to face Rick, placing your hands on your lower back. "Happy?"
"Look...I just want you to be safe." Rick reasoned softly as he took a step closer to you. He reached out and placed his hand over your growing baby bump. "Both of you."
You gave him a look. "Nothing's going to happen in the watch tower." You told him. "You're being paranoid."
"It's what's kept us alive so far." He told you as his head ever so slightly cocked to the side and his eyes diverted. "It's kept you and the kids safe."
"Speaking of kids. Where are they?" You questioned as you wrapped your arms just above your belly.
"Judith is with Olivia, and Rylie and Ellie convinced Carl to play fetch with them," Rick explained. His voice was laced with amusement as he spoke the last sentence.
You watched him silently for a moment, watching as he smiled softly to himself. "What?" You asked him softly as you started walking back towards the house.
"He's so different with them. Like they have this way of bringing the kid out of him." Rick explained with a small smile spread across his lips. "He wouldn't be playing catch with anyone else."
"I'm glad they have each other." You mumbled softly. You came to a stop just across the road from the house. Carl and the girls were on the front lawn with a blue, soccer-sized ball. You silently watched the kids.
Carl was gentle with the two girls, giving Ellie pointers on how to throw the ball correctly and helping her up when she managed to trip over her own feet.
You and Rick approached the kids and they momentarily stopped their game. Ellie was the first to run towards you. "Carl's teaching us to throw a ball." She said happily as she squeezed between you and Rick.
"Ellie almost threw out a window." Rylie snitched as she came over with Carl right beside her.
"It was this close," Carl added as he held up his hands to show you and Rick just how close Ellie came to throwing out a window.
"That true?" Rick asked as he looked down at Ellie, placing his hand gently on the top of her head.
A little bit later that night, you, Rick and the kids were gathered around the dining table. Judith was sitting on your lap as you helped her eat, and Rick was trying to coax Ellie into trying cucumber for the first time.
Ellie looked up with a little scowl. "They're overreacting." She told him softly as she shook her head. Rick laughed in response as he ruffled Ellie's hair.
"I promise you, it's good." Rick told her gently.
"You said that about Brussels sprouts." Ellie reminded him as she quirked an eyebrow.
Rick raised his eyebrows as he silently stared at Ellie for a moment before turning his head to look at you, hoping for help. You looked at him and shrugged your shoulders. "You did tell her that."
"Lied." Carl corrected you. "He lied to her...because Brussels sprouts aren't good."
"They're disgusting actually." Rylie added as she popped a carrot into her mouth and ate it.
"That's...that's funny, because I've seen you three eat old chocolate." Rick reminded the kids as he raised his eyebrows. You laughed softly at the memory, while the kids smiled sheepishly. Rick continued eating. "Mashed potatoes are good."
"Carl made them," I informed Rick while casting a proud smile in Carl's direction.
"You did?" Rick asked as he looked at Carl with raised eyebrows.
"Y/n, let's me help. I've learned to make a lot of things actually." Carl explained with a half-hearted shrug of his shoulders.
"He's getting good." You stated with a small smile. "Bet he could even make Brussels sprouts taste good." You joked as you fed Judith a spoonful of mashed potatoes.
"I bet I could." Carl agreed with a proud nod of his head.
You went to feed Judith another spoonful of mashed potatoes and she looked up at you with her big doe-eyes. "Mama..." she mumbled softly.
You froze. Everyone around the table froze as they looked at Judith. Your eyes shot towards Rick, giving him a wary look.
He didn't react at first as he looked at his daughter. Then he smiled as he stared down at Judith before his gaze flicked to you.
You stared back at him for a moment before looking at Carl. The little boy saw the hesitance in your eyes, how rigidly you waited for his reaction.
Carl smiled. "You're the mom she knows." He said softly as he nodded his head. "We can have two moms." He said as he looked at his baby sister.
A mere few weeks later, you had given birth to your baby. A little boy you named Oliver. Oliver Grimes. The sweetest little boy who was the spitting image of the man you love.
"And two dads," Rylie spoke softly as he looked at Rick. His response was to smile back at the little girl, brushing a hand through her hair.
"Yeah." Rick confirmed softly as he nodded his head.
One night, you were lounging on the couch, cradling Oliver in one arm, holding Judith in the other as she lay against your side. Carl, Rylie, and Ellie were sitting on the floor, playing cards.
Rick walked into the house, pausing when he saw his family in the living room. He turned to face the living room, watching everyone with the smallest hint of a smile on his face.
Ellie saw Rick and jumped up, running towards him. "They're cheating." She told him as she took his hand and led him towards Carl and Rylie.
"How can we cheat at go-fish?" Carl asked as he raised his eyebrows.
"You're a cop. You know when people lie and cheat." Ellie told Rick as she looked up at him. "Watch them and you'll see." She insisted as she let go of his hand and plopped down on the floor again.
Rick laughed softly but agreed to watch for any cheating from Carl and Rylie. He sat down beside you, kissing the top of your head. "Hey."
"Hey." You greeted softly as you leaned into his side.
"How's he been doing?" He asked softly while brushing a hand over Oliver's soft whispy hair.
"Being hungry and sleepy are his only problems right now." You mused softly as you looked at Rick. "And this little monster who won't let him out of her sight." You mused as you nodded down at Judith. She was silently staring down at her little brother, playing gently with his fingers.
"Gotta live up to her big sister title." Rick mused as he reached out to the little girl, carefully lifting her up and into his lap. "You looking after your baby brother, huh?" He asked her softly.
"Ollie." She mumbled softly as she pointed at her baby brother while looking up at Rick.
"Yeah." He mumbled softly as he nodded. His gaze flicked back to the kids on the ground, watching them play cards.
That night, after all the kids had gone off to bed and you put Judith down in her crib, you returned to the bedroom you shared with Rick and Oliver.
You smiled when you saw Rick pace around the room with Oliver cradled in his arms. He looked at you when he heard you enter the room. "Sometimes still doesn't feel real that he's here." He mumbled softly.
"No, it doesn't." You agreed with a shake of your head. "After Ellie, I never thought I'd have another kid. Especially not in all this." You admitted as you approached Rick, softly running your fingers over the baby's soft hair. "I am so happy he's here now."
"Me too," Rick replied softly as he nodded his head. "You know, I'm really thankful for all you do with the kids. You take care of him, your girls, and my kids."
"Our kids," You told him softly.
"Ours." He agreed softly as he nodded his head while looking down at you. Oliver fussed a little in Rick's arms and Rick looked at the baby. "Yeah yeah, I know, buddy." He sighed as he began pacing again.
"That's Daryl's fault you know." You huffed softly as you climbed into bed. "Always walking around with the baby."
"How was your day?" He asked softly as he reached out to brush a strand of hair out of your face.
"Yeah." Rick agreed with a nod of his head as he huffed in amusement.
After a while, the baby fell asleep in Rick's arms and he gently laid Oliver down in the crib beside the bed. Then he approached you, sitting down on the edge of the bed.
"I should ask you that, you're the one who's going out there and getting into all kinds of trouble." You commented as you placed your hand over his.
"We have a deal with Hilltop." He informed you as he slowly nodded his head.
"What's the deal?" You asked softly as you raised your eyebrows.
"We just have to take care of a group of people for them." He explained with a shrug of his shoulders. You raised your eyebrows. "No, no. You're not coming with." He denied with a shake of his head.
"Why not?" You asked as your eyebrows furrowed.
"Because I'm not risking losing you." He replied softly as he cupped your cheek gently.
"And if I lose you?" You asked him as your eyebrows furrowed.
"You won't." He assured as he shook his head. "I will always fight to come back home to you and the kids." He whispered as he leaned forward, resting his forehead against yours. "But I won't ever risk you." He said as he lifted his forehead and softly kissed you.
Summary: You are a few years younger than Spencer but you fall head over heels in love with the hunter. Your father is livid when he finds out and demands you stay away from Spencer. But he finds out you didn't take heed of his warning and he does something that makes Spencer ready to commit terrible murder.
You're only in your early twenties, still twenty-three. You come from a rich and influential family, meaning your whole life has been planned out for you. Down to the last detail. You're used to rules, to structure, and plans.
Perhaps that's what made you fall in love with Spencer Dutton. He was older than you...a lot older actually. But he was free. He did things on a whim because a man like him had to live every day like it could be his last. He had adventures you could only dream of.
You fell in love with Spencer in the summer, when he returned to Montana after being in Africa for a long while. He lived with his aunt and his uncle on the Dutton family ranch. It wasn't too far from your own family ranch.
The first time you met him, you had taken a pie to his aunt, on your father's request. Somehow you and Spencer ended up sharing the pie between yourselves.
Now two months later, you were head over heels for your secret lover.
"Be careful darlin'." He cautioned you, his blue eyes focused on you as you walked on a fallen tree stump.
You were wandering the vast Dutton land with him and stumbled across a fallen tree stump that you were now balancing on as you carefully walked on it.
"I am careful." You replied with a sigh. "I'm always careful. I leave being reckless, to you."
"Can't return you to your daddy with bruises and scrapes," Spencer spoke, choosing to ignore your last sentence.
You looked at him, slowly raising your eyebrows. "You've returned me to him with bruises plenty of times." You reminded, a small grin tugging at your lips as many dirty memories filled your mind.
"Those were deliberate and ain't anywhere he'd see them," Spencer replied as he caught your eyes with a sideways look.
You jumped off the tree stump and Spencer instinctively moved to catch you, his hands shooting out to grab your waist and softening your landing on your feet.
"What happened to caution?" He questioned you with a soft grunt as he raised his eyebrows.
"Thrown to the wind." You responded as you loosely wrapped your arms around his neck. "If I am to ever keep up with you, I must take risks."
"Ain't no reason for it. I'll take all the risks for both of us." He assured you softly as he squeezed your waist. "Besides, you'll never have to keep up with me. You know I'll always slow down for you."
"But that's not what you want. You don't want to slow down." You replied softly as you played with the short hairs on the back of his head.
"Darlin', I want whatever you want." He replied assuringly. "You just tell me what you want, and I'd follow you blindly."
You smiled softly up at him, knowing his words were true. Your hands shifted, grabbing onto his shirt as you pressed your lips against his in a soft and sensual kiss.
"You are insatiable, woman. You know that?" He mumbled against your lips.
You pulled barely an inch away from his lips, smiling up at him. "Mr. Dutton, are you complaining?" You playfully gasped up at him.
He pursed his lips tightly to hide his smile and rolled his eyes to the side for a moment before looking down at you. "No ma'am." He replied softly before continuing the kiss where it had left off.
By the time you returned home a long while later, you had scratches from a tree on your back, your hair hung loosely instead of the neat bun you left with, and your makeup was mostly wiped off.
"Where have you been?" Your father's stern voice called out when you passed by his study.
You turned back and entered his study. "I was out walking." You explained vaguely with a shrug of your shoulders. It wasn't a complete lie.
"Walking where?" He questioned as his eyes narrowed.
"Just around the land." You replied as you gave him another shrug of your shoulders.
"You look a mess." He scolded and you subconsciously ran a hand over your dress to smooth it out. "Come sit. I wish to talk." He demanded.
You hesitated for a moment. Your father never simply just wanted to talk. It was always more complicated than that.
You sat down in front of his desk with caution, feeling a knot already form in the pit of your stomach as you stared at him, waiting for him to talk.
"There is a boy, named John. He is from a rich and good family." Your father began and your eyebrows slowly furrowed as you stared at him. "He's seeking a wife."
You silently stared at him for a moment longer before clearing your throat. "What does it have to do with me?" You asked softly with a strained voice. You already knew.
"In a weeks time he will come to Montana to meet you." He informed you simply. "Four weeks after that, you will be married to him."
"You are marrying me off?" You gasped as your eyes widened in horror and shock.
"You are getting older and you are still unmarried without children." Your father reason. "As a good father, I must secure your future."
"My future is not a man I do not know!" You refused as you got up from your chair and turned to leave. You turned to face him again. "How could you?"
"I am your father! It is my job to look out for you!" He snapped as he stood up. "This boy will take good care of you!"
"I won't marry him!" You refused with a shake of your head.
"I say you will, so you will!" He yelled as he slammed his hand down on his desk, making you flinch.
You stared at him, tears pooling in your eyes. "I can not believe you." You whispered before running out of his study.
You left the house, not taking note of the dark clouds pulling over Montana. You walked to the Dutton ranch, left with your tears and thoughts.
You were halfway when it started raining but you were too far to turn back, and you couldn't bare facing your father now.
As you walked across the field onto the Dutton ranch, Spencer so happened to see you from a window. He rushed outside, the worry visible on his face.
"Darlin'?" He called out through the heavy down pour as he approached you. When he got to you, he pushed your soaked strands of hair out of your face. "You're soaked. Let's get you inside."
He led you into the house, got you out of your wet clothes, dried you off and helped you into one of his shirts.
"Tell me what happened." He insisted softly as he wrapped a blanket around you before gently drying your hair with another towel.
"My father is making me marry..." You admitted softly as you looked up at him. He blankly stared down at you, completely silent for a moment. "Say something." You begged softly.
He cleared his throat as he pulled away. "To who?" He asked in a low voice.
Your eyebrows furrowed. "Does it matter?" You scoffed softly.
"Yes." He confirmed with a nod of his head. "Is he good?"
You scoffed as you stood up. "I wouldn't know. I don't know him." You gritted out in a sharp voice. "Why does it matter, Spencer?" You questioned.
"Because if he's good, he'll take care of you." He reasoned with you.
"I don't want to marry him, Spencer." You told him as you shook your head. "I want to be with you."
"That's why you ain't told your daddy about us yet? Why we sneak around? Why no one knows about us?" He asked as he raised his eyebrows.
"Spencer..." You whispered as you looked at him. "You know my father...you know how he is." You tried to reason with him.
"Darlin' you deserve a man that you can tell people about, a man that you can go out in public with." He reasoned with you as he softly cupped your cheek.
"I want you. Only you." You insisted as you placed your hand over his.
Spencer stared down at you, rubbing his thumb over your cheek before leaning forward and resting his forehead against yours. "You're shivering." He whispered as he wrapped his arms around you.
"I won't marry this man." You refused as you rested your head against his chest.
"Then what will you do darlin'?" He asked softly as he held you close, rubbing circles across your back.
"I'm not sure yet." You sighed softly.
Spencer took you home after the rain had cleared, dropping you just outside your property line. You changed first, dressing appropriately before going to see your father.
"I hope you're here to apologize for your outburst earlier." He said in a tight voice as he stared at your through his reading glasses.
"No." You replied with a shake of your head. You let out a shaky breath. "I'm in love with someone." You informed him as you picked at your fingers.
Your father sat back in his chair, his eyes narrowing. "And who might this someone be?" He questioned.
You took a deep breath. "Spencer Dutton." You admitted.
Your father was silent for a moment, his gaze growing sharp as he glared at you. "The hunter?" He questioned and you nodded in response. "Ain't he well into his thirties?"
"Yes." You confirmed softly.
"What are you doing being around a man like Dutton?" He questioned sharply as he stood up and approached you.
"I love him." You admitted softly.
He scoffed. "You know nothing about love." He spat as he shook his head. "You will marry John, Y/n." He demanded.
"I will not." You refused. "I love-"
"I will hear none of Spencer Dutton anymore!" He yelled at you. "You will stay away from him! He won't be any good to you! He's too old and he's dangerous!" He yelled at you before storming off.
His way of saying the conversation was done.
True to his words, he wouldn't hear anymore of Spencer Dutton and forbid you from seeing him ever again. He also went forth with arranging your marriage to John.
But you still found ways around him to see Spencer.
"I won't marry him." You mumbled softly, your head resting against Spencer's chest as you laid against him, your legs sandwiched between his.
"When is he coming?" Spencer asked as he subconsciously ran his fingers up and down your bare arm.
"Two days from now." You sighed softly. You turned your head, craning your neck to look up at him. "Let's leave, go somewhere else." You suggested.
"Go where Darlin'?" He asked as he raised his eyebrows.
"Anywhere." You replied softly.
A car pulled up outside the house and a door slammed. Spencer untangled himself from you and climbed off the bed, taking a look through the window. "It's your father." He informed you.
Your blood ran cold and your heart tensed inside your chest. "Oh God." You gasped as you rushed to get dressed. "Oh God, he's going to lose it."
"Y/n! I know you're here!" Your father yelled from outside. "You better come down here!" he demanded, the patience in his voice already slipping.
"Let me deal with him." Spencer suggested as he buttoned up his pants.
"No, then it will only be worse." You refused with a shake of your head as you brushed a hand through your hair to fix the messy locks.
"Y/N!" Your father screamed from outside.
"Darlin' wait up," Spencer called out after you as you rushed out of the bedroom while buttoning up the last buttons of your dress. He slipped on his shirt and followed after you.
You pulled open the front door with a shameful look on your face as you father gave you a once over with disgusted eyes. He glanced over your shoulder and saw Spencer approaching.
"You!" Your father spat as he pointed at Spencer. "You are going to ruin my daughter! Her life! Her future!" He yelled angrily.
"You don't know the first thing about me and Y/n." Spencer spat back as he came up behind you. You stood firm in your place, acting as a barrier between Spencer and your father. "I love your daughter and I'd do damn near anything for her."
Your father scoffed. "She's a child! And you are a grown man!" he yelled.
"I'm not a child!" You defended yourself.
"You're going to stay away from my daughter, or I will make sure neither you nor your family ever know peace again." Your father warned Spencer sharply.
"That a threat?" Spencer grunted as he tried to take a step closer to your father but you blocked him.
"It's a warning, Mr. Dutton." Your father spat before reaching out and grabbing your arm. "Let's go."
"Let go of her you son of a bitch!" Spencer demanded as he reached out to grab you from your father.
"Leave it, leave it." You pleaded with Spencer as you brushed his hand away. "It's okay, I'm okay." You assured him. You knew if he tried to fight back against your father now, it would only make things worse.
Spencer's jaw clenched as he let you go, watching in anger as your father dragged you to his car. His fists bawled up by his sides, the effort of holding back getting to much.
Your father dragged you into his car and drove away. It took Spencer all of five minutes before deciding he was going to get you and bring you back, damn the consequences. He climbed into his car and drove to your family ranch.
"I told you to stay away from him, didn't I!?" Your father yelled at you as he paced around his study.
"You do not control me! You do not control who I love!" You yelled at him.
He spun around sharply to face you and his hand shot out, backhanding you right across the face. A strangled gasp escaped your lips as your head shot to the side. You could immediately feel the burning sting spread across your cheek, as well as at the corner of your lip where his ring had cut you.
"That is where you are wrong. I do control you." He gritted out as he glared at you.
You placed a trembling hand over your reddening cheek, your eyes growing teary as you looked at your father with hurt and disbelief. "What would mom think is she was still alive?" You huffed.
His hand shot out and he backhanded you again, this time harder. For a moment, you could hear a ringing in your ear. Your cheek was warm and tingling painfully and you could taste the faint copper on your lips.
There was a sudden banging on the front door and your father didn't spare you a glance as he pushed past you and went to the front door. "Did I not make myself clear Mr. Dutton?" he snapped angrily when he opened the door.
"Spencer." You whispered before taking off down the hallway and approaching the front door. "Spencer."
"Darlin'?" He spoke up when he heard you. He looked past your father, his eyes landing on you. His blood ran cold. Those beautiful lips he kissed so many time, were cut in the corner, and the soft cheeks he kissed and cradled, were angry red with the promise of a bruise to come.
"Y/n, go to your room." Your father ordered.
Spencer's cold blue eyes shifted to your father. "You did that to her face?" He asked in a low voice as he nodded his head in your direction.
"I corrected my daughter's recent behavior, as is my right." Your father replied sharply.
Spencer grabbed your father by the scruff off his shirt and slammed him back against the door. You flinched, wrapping your arms around yourself as you watched Spencer.
"You think you have any right to do that? To lay your hands on her? To hurt her?" Spencer gritted out as he pulled your father away from the door just to slam him back against it. "I ought to fuckin' kill you." he spat.
"Spencer." You whispered as you tightened your arms around yourself.
His eyes flicked towards you. "Darlin', do me a favor, go up to your room and pack anything worth packing. You ain't staying here," he ordered.
"You have no right-" Your father began to angrily protest.
"Was I talking to you?" Spencer snapped as he pulled your father back and slammed him against the door once more. "I'm taking her away from here. Giving her the best damn life, like she deserves."
You stayed standing there, cautiously looking between Spencer and your father for a moment. You weren't hesitating going with Spencer, you were just hesitating leaving your father alone with Spencer.
Spencer looked at you. "Darlin." He urged.
You looked at him and snapped back to reality. With a nod of your head, you turned around and rushed upstairs. You packed a few pieces of clothing, your mother's jewelry box, and the small box of letters that Spencer had written to you.
"You ain't ever seeing her again. You ain't ever hurting her again, you won't get the chance." Spencer gritted out as he glared at your father. "I will protect her with my life and love her with everything I have inside me. And you won't get in my way."
You came rushing downstairs with your bag slung over your shoulder. "Spencer." You called out to him.
He pushed your father away and held his hand out to you. "Come here." he urged.
"Y/n." Your father warned in a low voice as he glared at you.
You ignored your father and pushed passed him, taking Spencer's hand. Spencer took your bag and slung it over his shoulder. "Let's go." he urged as he led you towards his car.
You didn't look back once. You didn't spare your father a single glance as you climbed into Spencer's car and he drove away. Only when he started driving off the ranch could you finally let out a breath.
"What happened?" he asked you, his voice tight and his grip on the steering wheel even tighter, his knuckles turning white with the pressure.
"He hit me. Twice." You admitted softly.
Spencer stopped the car. "Son of a bitch." He gritted out as he started turning the car to head back to the house.
"Leave him." You pleaded as you reached out and grabbed onto his arm. "I am finally free from him. Spencer, please leave him."
Spencer grunted in response as he continued driving away from the house. He took you back to his family ranch and settled you into his bedroom with him.
"Let me have a look at you." he urged as he walked over to you and gently cupped your red cheek. "Darlin..." he sighed softly, like it pained him to see your face like that.
"It'll be fine. It'll heal." You told him softly.
"That supposed to make it better?" he asked softly as his eyebrows furrowed.
"Supposed to stop you from committing murder." You reasoned softly as you patted his chest before moving your hands up to cup his cheeks. "So what now?"
"Now, darlin'? Now we get to be together for the rest of our lives." He told you softly. "Long time to be stuck with me." he reasoned with you.
You smiled up at him. "Lucky me." You whispered before kissing him softly.

Summary: You and JJ have broken up but there's still some feelings lingering between you. It all comes crashing down when he gets jealous seeing you with another guy at a party on the Boneyard.
It's been exactly two weeks since you and JJ broke up. There was no particular reason, but also a hundred different reasons thrown together that simply got too much for you both. It was a heat-of-the-moment breakup after a big fight. Now both of you were too stubborn to fix anything.
JJ was already in a shitty mood when he arrived at the Boneyard. And his night was about to get a lot fucking worse.
You were near the water, smoking a blunt while staring out at the water. You were in your own little world, thinking about the homework you still had to do when you got home, when a Pogue boy approached.
Brody, nice looking enough with his messy brown hair and dark brown eyes, approached with a kind smile. "Mind if I join you?"
You snapped back to reality and glanced at him. You offered him a small smile. "Knock yourself out." You responded, taking another drag of your blunt. A moment later you held it out to him. "Smoke?"
Brody looked at you for a moment before nodding. "Sure." He responded as he took the blunt, taking a long drag. "So are the stories true?"
"About AI taking over? I sure as hell think so." You responded sarcastically, your voice completely serious as you nodded.
Brody chuckled dryly. "No, I mean you and JJ." He explained as he raised his eyebrows at you.
"Yeah...they're true." You responded softly. You didn't have to ask what stories he was referring to. There was only one kind of story running around the island.
"Sucks for him," Brody responded, taking another drag of the blunt before handing it back to you.
You didn't respond as you took your blunt and took a long drag. JJ was a sensitive topic and you weren't going to discuss it with a guy you barely knew.
JJ was standing with John B near the bonfire, just a few feet away from you. His blue eyes were sweeping the crowd, looking at who had shown for the party. When he saw you with Brody fucking Lynn, his jaw clenched.
"What is she doing?" JJ huffed as his eyes narrowed.
John B's eyebrows furrowed as he looked at JJ. "Who?" He questioned in confusion.
"Y/n." JJ bit out as be stared you and Brody down.
John B looked over at you and Brody, pursing his lips when he saw you share a blunt with the boy. Dear God, he wished he was anywhere else right now. He looked back at JJ and affirmed...he'd be anywhere else.
"Leave it bro." John B pleaded softly. "You guys broke up, remember?"
"Two weeks ago!" JJ scoffed. "And now she's sharing a blunt with Brody. Fucking Brody." He muttered angrily.
John B frowned. "Leave it, JJ." He repeated himself.
For a moment JJ looked like he would leave it, then he saw Brody casually brushing his hand against your arm and he fucking lost it.
"JJ..." John B groaned as JJ began stomping across the sand. He didn't follow. He didn't want to be part of what was about to go down.
"Well ain't this really cute." JJ mocked as he got closer to you and Brody. "You guys look really cute together."
You looked over your shoulder when you heard his voice and everything inside you tensed. Seeing JJ brought forth so many emotions. Happiness, longing, anger and a whole lot of fucking nervousness.
"There a problem?" Brody asked as he raised his eyebrows at JJ.
"Yeah there's a fucking problem." JJ replied with a nod of his head.
You sighed. "JJ, just...just leave." You tried softly as you shook your head at him.
He looked at you. "What are you even doing? Seriously? Brody fucking Lynn?" He questioned with a scoff, judging your taste in men.
"You! You are my problem!" JJ snapped as he pointed at Brody. He glared at the brunette for a moment. "Walk away from her man. Right now." He warned.
"Or what?" Brody snapped as he stepped closer to JJ.
By now a crowd was gathering a few feet away, waiting to see what was going on and what was going to happen next.
"JJ." You cautioned softly.
He looked at you. "Why are you even over here with him?" He questioned you.
"What does that even have to do with you?" Brody bit out as he glared at JJ.
"I wasn't talking to you bro." JJ snapped as he shoved Brody by the chest. "Don't fucking interrupt when I'm speaking to my girl."
"Your girl?" Brody laughed. "She broke up with your ass!" He reminded.
"I'm about five seconds away from stomping your ass into the sand." JJ warned as he got into Brody's face.
"That's enough. JJ, stop it." You demanded as you grabbed his arm and pulled him away from Brody. "Stop it."
"Oh, you're coming up for him, really cute Y/n." JJ mocked as he yanked his arm away from you.
"I'm just gonna go," Brody stated as he started walking away. You were cute, but JJ was crazy, and fighting him was not worth it.
"Yeah, you do that." JJ encouraged as he glared at Brody's retreating figure. He looked back at you a moment later. "What was that, huh?"
"I could ask you the same thing." You huffed softly as you stepped closer to him with a scowl on your face.
"I'm not the one smoking with Brody Lynn." JJ snapped softly, clenching his jaw as he stared into your eyes.
"You can't seriously be jealous right now." You replied as your eyes narrowed a little bit.
"Oh princess you have no idea." He replied in a tight voice as he slowly shook his head.
"Why?" You bit out in a tight voice.
"Because you're supposed to be mine. And two weeks don't change that." He replied, his voice just as tight as yours. "So what were you doing with Brody?"
"We were smoking, JJ." You scoffed with a sharp roll of your eyes as you crossed your arms over your chest.
"That's bullshit, it really is." He replied with a shake of his head. He turned around and started walking away, heading to a more secluded area of the beach, away from the party.
You stared at him for a moment before letting out a huff and following after him. "JJ! Wait!" You called out after him.
"Go back to Brody!" He snapped as he shot you a glare over his shoulder.
"Oh grow up!" You yelled as you came to a stop.
JJ turned around and stomped towards you, stepping right into your personal space. "Me!? What about you?" He huffed. "Acting like you're fine! Like none of this matter!"
"Of course I'm not fine!" You yelled as you pushed his chest. "How can I possibly be fine JJ?" You questioned, letting out a huff of breath.
He stared at you in silence. You stared back in silence. The air around you two was tense. Both of you were breathing heavily, standing mere inches away from each other.
For a moment JJ's gaze flicked down to your lips but he quickly looked away when he caught himself staring. "Whatever." He huffed before leaving.
With a roll of your eyes, you turned around and stormed back to the party, cursing JJ under your breath as you went.
You spent a moment drinking a few beers with Kie and ranting your frustration to her while she dutifully agreed that JJ was an asshole.
When Kie wandered off, Brody took the chance and approached you again. "Is it safe?" He asked as he raised his eyebrows.
You nodded your head. "Seems so." You confirmed with a little grin. "Did you take my blunt?" You questioned him.
"I did." He admitted as he nodded his head.
"There any left?" You asked as you raised your eyebrows, crossing your arms over your chest.
He grinned sheepishly as he shook his head. "Sorry." He apologized with a shrug of his shoulders. "I'll buy you one back." He assured.
"Sure." You replied with a nod of your head.
"I can offer you beer?" He suggested as he held out his bottle of beer.
"No, you enjoy your beer." You told him as you patted his arm in a friendly gesture.
"Wanna dance?" He asked you as he nodded his head in the direction of the dancing couples just a few feet away.
"Oh...no." You laughed awkwardly as you shook your head. "I don't-"
JJ, who was now slightly drunk and agitated, spotted you two from a distance and he saw red. John B gave a weak attempt at trying to calm JJ down, but once he saw the way Brody was practically manhandling you, he let JJ do what he needed to do.
"Oh come on, it'll be fun." He urged as he took your hand and started dragging you to where the couples were dancing. You tried to pull your hand back but Brody was insistent.
JJ stormed towards you, his fists bawling up by his sides as his breathing sped up. "Bro, didn't I tell you to get the fuck away from her!?"
You looked over your shoulder just in time to see the angry blonde push past you and slam his fist against the side of Brody's face.
"JJ!" You let out a startled cry as your eyes widened.
Brody barely had time to register that he had been punched before JJ grabbed him by the scruff of the shirt. "I told you, didn't I?" He spat.
"The fuck is your problem man?" Brody huffed as he shoved JJ away with force.
"Stay away from her. Don't fucking ever grab her again." JJ snapped as he got in Brody's face, shoving him back.
Brody snapped and punched JJ in the jaw. JJ retaliated, hitting Brody back. A fight broke out between the two boys and John B and Pope had to step in, pulling JJ off Brody.
"Oh God, JJ." You gasped as you approached him, gently cupping his bruised jaw.
Brody, looking worse than JJ, saw how you fussed over the blonde and caught the hint. With a huff he stormed off, leaving the party.
"I'm fine." JJ mumbled softly as he brushed your hand away.
"You're bleeding." You mumbled as you gaze worriedly flicked to the cut on his upper cheek. "We should get that cleaned up."
"We?" JJ repeated as he raised his eyebrows.
"You'll just leave it and it'll get infected." You huffed softly at him. You took his hand and started dragging him towards where you parked your scrappy little car.
You drove down to the Chateau and got JJ inside. He sat down on the couch with a huff, watching you with a quirked eyebrow as you grabbed a first aid kit.
"Why did you do it?" You asked as you sat down beside him and carefully cleaned the cut on his cheek and the one on his lip.
"Careful." He hissed when you pressed the cloth against his cut. You scowled at him but continued cleaning. "I just...I saw him grabbing you and dragging you along. Just saw red..."He explained.
"You've been acting like a jealous boyfriend the entire night." You mumbled softly as you gently swiped the cloth over the cut on his bottom lip.
"I am jealous." He confirmed as he looked at you.
You sighed softly and lowered the cloth. You stared at him for a moment. "Why?" You whispered.
"Because how am I supposed to let anyone else have you when I still want you?" He asked softly as he looked at you.
You sighed softly and let your head drop, your forehead resting against his shoulder. "JJ..." You whispered.
"I know." He mumbled as he lowered his head to rest against yours. "I miss you."
You lifted your head, your face inches away from his. "I'm right here." You whispered.
His gaze flicked down to your lips, staring for a moment before looking into your eyes. His eyes held a silent question as he raised his eyebrows and you slowly noddded your head in response.
He leaned forward and pressed a soft kiss to your lips, flinching a little at the pressure of your lips against his cut.
You tried to pull away when he flinched but he placed a hand on the back of your head and pulled you back into the kiss.
"Take me back." He pleaded against your lips.
"Okay." You agreed with a soft moan as you climbed onto his lap, straddling him. "But this time, you have to do better. We both do." You insisted. "Can't be like before."
He nodded in agreement. "Yeah." He whispered before pulling you into another kiss. "I'll be better." He assured softly.
