Cw; fluff, comfort for a tired person, reader writer doesn't't like hot chocolate, Sally loves reader,
"I can't believe we got more snow" Percy whines
"I don't think it's so bad, it looks pretty" You respond, "unless I go outside, then I hate it"
Percy scoffs and laughs, "So.....you also hate snow"
"I don't hate it, but I don't like it either."
The two of you stare outside the window, watching all the snowflakes fall down inside your warm and snug cabin (how you two are in the same cabin alone idk fanfiction logic). It really does look pretty, there's few things like curling up under tons of blankets, in a little book nook by the window. It's peaceful and simple, a break from the crazy summers of quests and danger. Saving the world was needed, but tiering and hard on you and your mental health. Everyone needs a break, and this happens to be yours.
"Mom wants to see you again," Percy says, breaking the silence
"Really?!" You and Sally were practically best friends, she was almost like your mom.
Percy chuckles, knowing how much you love her "Yeah, Estelle too, she hasn't seen you since Christmas and she's getting fussy"
You smile at that, picturing Sally’s kitchen, always warm, always smelling like something good, Estelle banging a spoon on the table while Sally pretends to scold her but never really means it. The thought alone loosens something tight in your chest.“I miss her,” you admit softly. “Both of them.”
Percy nods, resting his chin against the back of the couch. “She misses you too. She keeps asking if you’re eating enough.”
You snort. “You better be telling her I do.”
"I do, she just doesn't believe me."
Silence settles again, the good kind. Outside, the snow thickens, flakes drifting lazily past the window like they have nowhere else to be. The world feels paused, wrapped in white. Percy reaches over and pulls another blanket around the two of you, tucking it like he’s done it a thousand times before.
“You okay?” he asks, quieter now.You hesitate. Not because you don’t trust him,but because the answer is complicated.
“I think so,” you say finally. “Or… I’m getting there.”
Percy hums in understanding. He doesn’t push. He never really does. Instead, he leans back, letting his shoulder bump lightly into yours, solid and familiar. The kind of presence that doesn’t demand words.
“We don’t have to do anything,” he says. “No quests. No prophecies. Just… snow and hot chocolate.”
“Hey,” you protest weakly, “you know I don't like hot chocolate”
He grins. “I know, you're just weird.”
"We could go see them. When the storm clears. Stay a few days.”You turn to him, heart lifting. “I’d like that.”
"Yeah,” you say, more certain now. “I think I need… normal for a bit.”Percy smiles, that gentle, crooked smile he only wears when he’s truly happy. “Then normal it is.”And for the first time in a long while, you let yourself believe that maybe peace doesn’t have to be temporary.
