The sun hadn't set yet but the first day of the hunt and already Hayden was buzzing with the overwhelming scents and sounds. This wasn't his first time attending but it was his first time as an official beta. Second in command had a nice ring to it and it certainly aided in his tendencies to be a nosy bastard. His eyes hadn't stopped from pivoting, taking it all in as he walked a step behind Delwyn, at his side always, the pair had grown up in different households but had been fast friends despite the rivalry between their father's. Perhaps it was that reason alone they had become close, to spite their parentages and take over the pack with the future planned how they wanted.
Dark eyes tracked the movement of a group of young people walking by and he half turned, grin widening when he jogged a step to catch up with Delwyn, having turned around to watch the group pass, walking backwards to keep up with his alphas. "I'm excited about the hunt this year, aren't you Del? The air just feels electric, hmmm," Hayden mused, nudging Delwyn as he skipped to turn once more to face forward, flashing his alpha a cheeky grin. "Definitely getting laid tonight." He winked.
Delwyn scoffed, eyes rolling as he shook his head, Hayden had always been the more rowdy of the two, ironic to their positions but not unexpected. In a lot of the other packs, it was the beta that overall ran the pack while the alpha's were just the brute force and image, final decision makers. Del and Hayden played a different game, so far it was working, even if they had some backlash from the older wolves in their pack. They were at the hunt for more than just a quick hook up, neither holding a hope out for any sort of bond outside of sensual. Each for their own reasons. Delwyn because he felt unworthy, Hayden hadn't given hint of his but Del suspected his beta felt same as he.
"Keep it in your pants long enough to get business done, beta, we're here for more than just pleasure," Delwyn said, though as another pair of young people walked by both men traced their movements and shared a glance with one another after they had passed. Delwyn felt it too, something was different this year and not just because he was officially alpha of his pack now.
The camp for the hunt, a festival and traders market all in one, with temporary living quarters around an old stone fort which served as the base. In neutral territory. The rules were set in this place and most supernaturals adhered to them for the sake of peace and prosperity, but some of the older generations were still elitists and stuck in their ways. But there had been more bonds found each year the hunt occurred and there was an electric pulse in the air that Delwyn could feel. "Maybe you're right..." he muttered, turning his gaze forward once more as they entered the market area of the grounds.
