Scott told Pyro point blank today that he doesn't have to pretend like everything's okay, and he's definitely onto something there, because tf!Pyro's been through a lot. sure, Pyro claims their capture wasn't that bad, but he also says stuff like "they never hurt me... unless I hurt them. if I burned them they'd strike me, poke me with spears... I suppose I deserved that." he says they were treated well enough, but he and Maddy were surprised to receive cooked food. and, you know, it was almost a month locked in an iron cage with almost no magic, constantly being moved around with nowhere to sleep but the cold floor.

part of this is probably that they're still processing, some of it might be some sympathy or understanding for the rebel's cause, and it might also be related to the fact that tf!Pyro's very aware of his image and how he's perceived. and, of course, he underwent a lot of growth during their capture, which gives that time for self-reflection a more positive outlook.
