Lazy fandom girl

isabela resembles her abuela much more than her siblings or cousins. notice the same face shape, same eye shape, same eye colour and a very similar nose shape (the base of alma's nose is thicker, but it curves the same way).

this is pretty fitting because, in my opinion, isabela and alma have very similar arcs in the film.

isabela and alma hide so much, for the good of the family and always seem to be making hard decisions.

alma held on too tightly and almost broke the miracle she was given, while isabela held such high standards for herself that it could have destroyed her if allowed to fester.

the whole point of mirabel singing 'the family madrigal' is to show how much she knows about her family and for the most part, she's correct, except regarding luisa, bruno, isabela and her abuela.

all four of them have put the needs of the family above their own needs, to a point where it causes them distress.

the point of isabela and alma's arcs is healing. for alma, it's healing from the generational trauma of the conflict that killed her husband and hung over the madrigal family for decades. for isabela, it was healing her self perception, the self-inflicted mental scars she must have had from constantly trying to keep up an image of herself to everyone.

and this is what i think some people who hate isabela and alma don't understand. the audience gets their perspective on these characters comes from mirabel, who has a number of negative interactions with them over the course of the film. like mirabel, however, we learn that these interactions were fueled by fear, love and frustration. this doesn't excuse the things they said and did, but i they do not make isabela and alma bad people.

When he found out you were pregnant, one of his many preparations was to learn about black hair. You know if the child ended up getting your hair type. Because of this, Oikawa is really good at doing his daughter’s hair.

Whenever you leave him to get your daughter ready for the day, you’re not at all worried. Might wanna double-check the outfit he picked out tho, b/c some of the things Oikawa has worn

So Tendou seems to think he’s the absolute goat at doing his daughters hair

Whenever she needs to go out somewhere and needs her hair done, she doesn’t want him anywhere near her hair. Every time he’s done it in the past he just goes crazy with the hair gel

It’s not pretty, at all

This particular time she had picture day and needed something done to her hair. You had to leave for work early, so you didn’t have time to do it. Which only left Tendou to do it.

After going through a few YouTube videos on different hairstyles to do for 4c hair, he picked one to do on her hair. It still didn’t come out great, but good enough in the front that he gave her a beanie, and it didn’t look like she was having a bad hair day.

Atsumu

You were out of town on business, so he was left to get your 8-year-old daughter ready for school for the day. And that meant doing her hair.

You left him specific instructions, so he thought he could handle it. I mean, how much different could it be from doing his hair. It was just curlier, right?

He’d walk in pretty confident, going over the detailed instructions you gave him. But when his daughter took off her head wrap, he was like umm, okay tf.

I’m supposed to turn this, *gestures to his daughter’s hair* to that!?!

He has ABSOLUTELY no idea wth he was doing. He gets through step one, which was just wetting her hair, but the rest was gibberish.

When he’s done, it looks nothing like it’s supposed to look like. It might be because he tried to braid using 4 strands because he thought it’d get it done faster.

This child needs to FaceTime her Uncle Osamu before her dad sends her to school, looking like that.

When his daughter starts crying, he’s freaking out when she sees the mess he’s made of her hair.

He just ends up letting her stay home from school

Kenma

Kenma knows how to do basic hair care. It’s limited to dyeing, brushing and washing his own hair

One day while you were out running errands, he decides to do a live stream with his 13-year-old daughter who loves video just as much as him.

The one thing he forgets is his daughter’s hair actually needed to be done.
