lost during isolation

a couple days ago I was able to interview a friend of mine and writer, willy. this is our interview.

mt: how are you coping with the current situation we are living in? do you have a routine, if so what is it?

willy: sorry i was making a sandwich lmao, Honestly, I have been trying to do things that make me feel content, you feel me? Like right now, i’m trying to read more poetry and write more poems. It’s been rough, though, I haven’t really written anything, but I am trying to! Also Animal Crossing has been helping me out alot lol.

mt: what's the process like for you to write a poem? is there a sort of procedure that goes into writing them or do you just go and face it head on?

willy: my procedure really depends on what I want to write about to be honest, as of now I usually write about my feelings and what kind of stuff goes through my mind, so I just take whatever I am feeling and try to write it out in a way that feels right to me you know? When I want to write about a specific topic, I usually take time to understand whatever I am writing about, I sort of meditate on a topic before writing about it.

mt: if you could describe your writing in 5 adjectives what would they be?

willy: i would say melancholic, emotional, real, relatable, and thought-provoking- or at least i try to be those things with my writing lmao

mt: if you were to give people advice during this time, what would you say to them?

willy: I would say that I understand that things might seem very bleak right now, and I understand how you might feel things won’t get better, but we just have to keep going. It’s hard as fuck, but the sun always rises the next day. Also PLEASE stay inside unless you absolutely have to go out.

After a mini hiatus we return with yet another talented guest. Adriel Jimenez aka GHETTOSONSHINE, joined us for a conversation on his experience throughout the quarantine.

L : First things first my guy how are you feeling during this quarantine?

AJ : Peace my g. I’m honestly feeling pretty content as of right now, before this I’d rarely ever be home so it was definitely an adjustment especially creatively. I eventually got more comfortable with it and went back to how I was creating yeaaaars ago, just on my laptop wherever I can sit down. I don’t have much of a set routine really other than washing my face every morning and night before bed lol, I just been doing what I feel like I want to do in the moment and that’s been working for me these past weeks.

L : I feel you man seems like a pretty solid transition into the quarantine, have you been creating any specific projects throughout this time or has it been something that comes and goes as you get ideas.

AJ : I would say it’s been a mix of both. It usually is. I really like to conceptualize and really flush things out when it comes to projects but sometimes shit be sporadic, and that’s just natural. Been working closely with my right hand Jose (Perzenhood) with creative direction for his new music. The “Mood Swing” Visual was kind of sporadic it was footage I had from the last time we was in nyc together, I kept saying I was going to do something with the footage but it didn’t happen. With the extra time on my hands I flushed it out quickly, along with the other promotional materials that went along with it. Grateful I slacked on it so long because in that time I sharpened the visual editing skill. There’s been a few other things I’ve worked on that’s under the wraps and one specific thing I’m really excited about is flushing out my first script ever, long overdue and I’m happy to be starting this new journey of writing and more thorough film making.

L : that’s sounds really dope i can sense that the you’ve made a ton of progress throughout that time and it’s come along well in your work. i wanted to continue with your journey in film making, i know you wear a few hats but how did that come along?

AJ : It’s something I’ve lowkey wanted to do since I was young man, wasn’t till last year where It clicked in my head though. Going thru this process now I even unlocked some forgotten memories of my childhood where I was tryna write stories, it’s funny that you forget these lil foreshadowing moments in our life. I think a lot of people have these older memories that reflect these things that resonate with us now that were older. Been doing the knowledge on it and just learning as much as I can because I got good ideas, and they need to be brought to life.

L : it seems to be a lifetime journey with this, honestly wanna see how you flush the ideas. i also wanted ask you what are the aspirations you have for after the quarantine?

AJ : Shooting that film for sure and connecting wit some more people. Other than that anything that comes naturally, we back on the block though no more being couped up in the same 100 sq feet.

L : hey man that’s a fact, also can’t wait for that end result on the film. now i have one last question for you. what’s your message for everyone in the same boat, that are really struggling with this quarantine?

AJ : Use the time wisely, be safe and take care of ya peoples.
