Since i have been thinking about sharing this bit of the universe i created for a while, time for me to share it.
Long post below.
In the universe, the future doesn't exist, not in a "Everything is hopeless" way, it's just that there is no time travel (the science fiction time travel, don't get pedantic on me).
But things like prophecies and future sight exist but there are specific ways in which they function.
First, "future sight" (it's more easy to explain than prophecies so i am starting with this one):
People with "future sight" don't see the future, they only see the most probable thing to happen.
Imagine somebody is running towards you, you use your "future sight" to see what they are going to do, your "future sight" examines every factor (including the actions that you are going to take) extremely fast and then tells you that the person is 93% more likely to start running to the left to try and punch you, so the moment you do your actions, you can block the punch or something like that if the other possibilities probability didn't happen.
But "future sight" doesn't work very well with chaotic people or people who have chaotic abilities or have abilities based from chaos.
Imagine the same situation, but this time the person has chaos involved in them in a way, you try your "future sight" but the results are nonsensical, the "future sight" can't tell what is the most probable thing to happen because a ton of things are possible with a person like that.
And now, Prophecies:
Prophecies exist but they technically aren't set in stone.
A prophecy will carry out like normal if the relevant people of the prophecy don't know about the prophecy.
Imagine a prophecy where a hero is defeated by a villain.
If the hero doesn't know about the prophecy, then they will be defeated.
But if they know about the prophecy, then they will be able to break the prophecy and defeat the villain as long as they are hopeful enough that they will be able to defeat the villain.
But most of the people in the universe don't know you can break prophecies, so that is why they are still important.
Prophecies are written by a really powerful being which i don't want to reveal right now ;) (it's not the christian god, i am not a christian but there are some religious and divine elements, also, i am not religious).
Every prophecy can be learned from a "book of prophecies" which is written in the "language of everything" (which i don't want to talk about now) and there are many "books of prophecies" but not enough for everybody to have.
The book only shows prophecies relevant to the people or culture that is reading the book.
If a prophecy is broken then it will be erased from the book permanently.
The people of the past who read the "book of prophecies" often recorded the prophecies in certain ways like engraving them in stone to make sure that the relevant people learn about the prophecies in case something happen to the book or the prophecy is broken.
I know i said that the future didn't exist in this universe and what i just said might be contradictory, but it isn't, prophecies are simply a way to guide events into a result that the entity that writes the prophecies might prefer (but they don't care if they end up broken, it simply makes it more interesting for them).
And i think that is everything i wanted to share, i might have forgotten something but i will had it later if i remember.
