Here I’m adding a bit of embroidery and some dried pink corn that I found in the cupboard.  I’m looking forward to the opening of Diverted Destruction 8 at The Loft At Liz’s on June 27

I’m thinking Quarter Jacket needs a collar.  Here are before and after shots.  I’m looking forward to adding some embroidery next.

When we left off, I had a batch of tie-dyed discharged fabric samples. A running stitch insured that the edges don’t fray. Then I began to patch-work the pieces together to make panels of the jacket.  In the bottom image we see parts of the discharged portions of the fabric were unraveled and rewoven with red thread.  Bits of simple embroidery are used to pull the shapes together.

I like the quality of my sample pieces (shown in my previous post) so I have decided to create a patchwork jacket panel out of the fabric samples and incorporate the discharge dye and reweaving techniques.  Here I am organizing the fabric samples and discharging the dye using bleach.

I’m starting to think about creating my piece for the exhibition, Diverted Destruction 8, opening at The Loft At Liz’s here in Los Angeles in June.  California Fibers members have been challenged to create something interesting from fabric sample books.  This year I’ve been exploring the concept of MENDING.  This exhibition I started to explore re-weaving.
