yes, all participants in motorsports are aware of the dangers everytime they sit in the car or attend a race.

but that Japanese GP in 2014 should never have gone ahead. it was typhoon season in Japan, the circuit was in the middle of a typhoon itself, the following torrential rain stopped the race with a red flag and it should never have been restarted after that point. it was never safe. no cars should be on track when recovery machinery is on track too.

it was a terrible, horrifying accident caused by a mishandling of events, miscommunication from many parties and not putting driver, fan and staff safety first and foremost.
