“I think it would be best if we didn’t make promises to each other.”

While now Cereza could try and keep herself in check, she could make no guarantees when she was provoked. The head injuries she gained from the bomb left her prone to snap judgements and with an easily heated temper.

“Fighting for my home is all I have. For those I hurt,” she replied, voice equally quiet. With difficulty, she shifted enough to expose a strip of skin on her side. Marked on it was twelve tally marks.

“Twelve dead because of me already. I don’t intend on getting any more tallies on my list. No one is left to fight for them. Los Muertos has their own agenda. Sombra’s been under your thumb for a while. And Overwatch doesn’t give two shits about the DF.”

Fighting for her home. They will make you forget your home.

Soulclaw said nothing about it. That was not something she needed to hear. Her eyes drifted up towards the locked door, imagining the window behind it. The sky. The road. “We will not be in your home. We will not be anywhere for long.” Eyes closed, she imagined she could almost smell the air - dirty and fresh as it always was. Raw. Real. “They move us a lot. They think I do not know. But the aides speak different tongues, and my book says that they speak different languages in different places.”

“I’d rather be dead than someone’s plaything.”

Though her head was at an uncomfortable angle, Cereza still managed to shoot a nasty glare in Soulclaw’s direction. A whisper in her head told her to be gentle, that perhaps this was familiar to the other… But her mind quickly jumped back to the injustice she suffered, and her temper flared up again.

“They can… They can try.” She chuckled, more to comfort herself than for intimidation. “But that’s not what I do. Maybe I did get in over my head… but I’m not gonna stop fighting Talon until I’m in my grave.”

Rather be dead. Not going to stop fighting. “...be quiet about it.” This was quieter now, Soulclaw’s eyes on the floor. Her hands flexed softly. “The loud fighters break fast. They push harder on those. If you fight too hard, they...they take the reason to fight.”
